Our family had a great week staying here. Great location in between Highlands and Cashiers. Cabin is very comfortable and the back porch is fantastic.

Fantastic Fall getaway

What a great property and location. Proximate to the Skyline Lodge, Highlands and Cashiers. Quiet wooded area and a lot of places to walk with my dog. Each house sits on a acre lot which provides lots of privacy. Wifi and cable ready house so was able to work. House exceeded our expectations. Will definitely re-book this property. Thank you Ruthie for sharing your wonderful home in the woods.

Shady tree-top retreat

We loved Pinetops - especially the large screen porch perched high above the hillside and surrounded by the forest canopy. It was our dining space, living room and even a home office for much of our stay. Working with the owner was a breeze.

House charming, but very dated kitchen and baths. Lightning very inadequate in kitchen and baths. Great fireplace which we enjoyed. Drive in area for car very difficult to maneuver. Area was convenient to Highlands and the Skyline lodge, which we enjoyed. Water situation, hopefully temporary, was inconvenient, but owner did her best to accommodate that problem.

Highlands stay

Ruthie was very reachable and checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. The house was well equipped (kitchen and bath) and comfortable. The screened in porch was especially nice in the evening. Parking is a little tight if you have two cars. The house is surrounded by woods which limited the amount of natural light in the house. Overall the stay was very nice and satisfied all our needs, especially the fact that it was dog friendly.

Charming cabin

This cabin was so charming, and included a lovely screened in porch with tons of seating. It was conveniently located to downtown Highlands, great hiking trails, and the neighboring Skyline Lodge, where there is a nice steakhouse. If I had any suggestion for improvement, it would be more light in the kitchen. I am used to a bright kitchen, and if you aren’t planning to cook, it’s no big deal, but for me, it was definitely an adjustment.

Charming and comfortable house with a caring owner

It's well maintained and very comfortable. And we appreciated that there are no steps to climb in getting into or out of the house. The back porch is a study in tranquility and reminds us of grand houses in the Adirondacks. The bird life around the house is wonderful. The owner was very helpful in resolving wifi issues that arose. We enjoyed our stay.

Heavenly Highlands

This lovely home tucked away in the woods(and yet convenient to everything) is a great getaway. The house is equipped with everything you might need to enjoy a home-cooked meal, games, movies, internet, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If you like a good trail ride, I recommend Arrowmont Stables...they do a wonderful job. We can't wait to return to PineTops!

Home away from Home in Highlands

We stayed here in June 2021 and it was fantastic. The home is our new home in Highlands. It is well designed with en suite baths, great screened in porch, fire pit, nice kitchen, and decorated like a comfy cabin with loads of space, games, and books....great spot.

Beautiful mountain getaway

We had a wonderful spring break at PineTops! It felt like home - everything we needed was at the house. The screened in porch and deck are beautiful. We also enjoyed fires in the evening at the fire pit. There is a lot to do in Highlands and our two school aged sons enjoyed all the outdoor activities. We hope to be back again!

Cozy cottage

We loved our stay at this home. A very cozy, cottage feel and plenty of room for our family of 5, plus dog. The house was well stocked, in a great location, and the owner was beyond accommodating! We highly recommend this property in both Winter and Summer, (great fireplace and beautiful porches)!

Highlands Getaway

My partner and I had a wonderful time. The cottage had a very inviting ambience and had everything we needed including a flashlight. The only thing I would miss in the summer is central air conditioning, but they did have three window units in the three bathrooms that could cool the bedrooms. The owner was delightful to work with and I would love to return next fall.

A cozy, private, and well appointed residence.

Everything we could of wanted to have a perfect stay. Close to shopping but still in the woods. Nice paved roads, Chirping birds, minimal traffic, and a wonderful fireplace. Could not of asked for a better place and an accommodating hostess .

Peaceful getaway

The Perfect Escape

Ruthie's house was the perfect escape for my 95 year old mom who had been isolated in assisted living since March. It was one of the few locations with a first floor bathroom, walk in shower and no steps. Everything was as depicted and described online: peaceful, nestled amongst the trees, cozy, well equipped with easy access to Highlands and Cashiers. We stayed in for the most part enjoying the roaring fire, board games and football on TV. Access was easy and Ruthie was very easy to communicate with. We had a great time.

Wonderful Escape In the Mountains!

We had a wonderful stay in this special property!!! We were supplied with every need and ...then some! It was a charming atmosphere and exceeded our expectations! We loved the screen porch and you could tell that the owner was a talented gardener because the grounds were so pretty. The location was easy to get to and so convenient to Highlands and Cashiers. I live permanently in Columbus, GA and love the Highlands area and my adorable cabin that I call PineTops. I am an avid gardener and have planted the garden at my cabin complete with stone walls and raised beds. There is even a children's garden. I am active while in Highlands, playing tennis, golf, bridge as well as my gardening activities.

This property is only four miles from the mountain village of Highlands, NC and offers 3 bedrooms and 3 baths and all of the comforts of home. I have redone the cabin by painting it inside and out, adding a large screened-in-porch, a 3rd bathroom, and creating a garden. As well as being close to downtown, it is also convenient to the adjacent village of Cashiers, NC. I added a large fire pit area in 2019 with built-in benches perfect for picnics and ghost stories. I also have enjoyed the amenities of the newly restored and renovated Skyline Lodge - a fabulous 5-star facility that is just a short walk from my cabin. Perfect for a nightly cocktail or a delicious dinner at the Oaks Steakhouse. Beautiful views.

We mostly enjoy the charm of our cabin. It is big enough to afford enough room for friends and family and a GREAT home for entertaining without sacrificing the small cabin feel of this 'tree house' in a quiet wooded setting. The screened-in-porch is a wonderful addition - with separate seating and dining areas. It is easily accessible with no entrance steps to climb, plenty of convenient parking at the door, and the private master bedroom and bath are the only rooms upstairs. The bedrooms are all custom decorated to include lovely bedding and well-appointed adjoining bathrooms. There are plenty of walking and hiking areas right outside of the cabin door, no busy highway noise, and a great fireplace to warm up a chilly mountain evening. Well-stocked with plenty of kitchen supplies and games and puzzles.
