We’re a family of seven from Boise, and this cabin started as a dream for us — a place where we could escape the noise of everyday life and spend time together making memories. My wife and I wanted a space where our five kids could grow up exploring the outdoors, swimming in the river, roasting marshmallows under the stars, and just enjoying being kids. When we built this cabin, we didn’t see it as just a vacation property; we built it as a true extension of our home.

From the start, every detail was chosen with family in mind. The big gathering spaces, the game room, the dorm for the kids — all of it was designed to bring people together. And somewhere along the way, the cabin became more than we even imagined. It’s the place where we all feel the most relaxed, the most connected, and the most at home.

We love Featherville — the quiet mornings, the smell of pine trees, the easy pace of life. We wanted to share that experience with others. Hosting gives us the chance to do that. It’s incredibly rewarding to see families, friends, and groups come here and create their own stories — fishing in the pond, watching movies in the theater room, jumping into the swimming hole, or just sitting on the porch and soaking it all in.

Featherville is just a scenic two-hour drive from Boise, but it feels like you’ve entered a different world. Unlike McCall or Cascade, which can be crowded and busy, Featherville stays wonderfully calm and uncrowded. There are no long traffic jams on the way up, and the roads stay open and easy to navigate all year long, making it a stress-free trip in any season.

What we love most about this area is how completely secluded it feels. The property has private river frontage with no neighbors in sight, giving you the kind of privacy and stillness that’s almost impossible to find these days. You wake up to the sound of the river flowing, breathe in crisp mountain air, and look out over tall pines that surround you on every side.

Anderson Ranch Reservoir is just 15 minutes away and adds a whole new level of adventure. It’s an uncrowded spot for fishing, boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and even cliff jumping if you’re feeling daring. The reservoir’s clear water and rugged shoreline make it feel like your own private playground.

Trinity Hot Springs, just a short drive away, offers a chance to soak in natural geothermal waters that are known for their mineral-rich properties and relaxation. With 6 bedrooms, a dorm that sleeps 12, and 7 ½ bathrooms, it comfortably accommodates large groups, family reunions, or multiple families traveling together.

Guests can fish, swim, or kayak without ever leaving the property, which is something few vacation homes can offer.
