Welcome to Desert Diamond Retreat, a mid-century modern gem designed by renowned architects Wexler & Harrison in 1961 and built in 1962. Located in the heart of Racquet Club Estates, Palm Springs, this iconic steel-framed home embodies the city’s architectural history. Originally part of an innovative project to create affordable housing, Desert Diamond Retreat is one of only seven steel and glass homes in the area, with a unique design featuring distinct rooflines.

**Attention**
Adjacent to our property's west wall is a development project with work hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and our single-pane glazing lets in some outdoor sounds. While you may hear occasional noise, we're confident that our home's unique allure, premium comfort, and mid-century flair will make your stay memorable.

The home features comfortable mid-century style furnishings and a private outdoor oasis. With its pristine condition and historical significance, Desert Diamond Retreat is a truly exceptional accommodation that promises an unforgettable stay.

Constructed in 1962 by George Alexander Company, the home emphasizes the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces with large windows that provide abundant natural light and a strong connection to the surrounding environment. In 2015, the house was fully restored to its original structure, characterized by clean lines, simple forms, and minimal ornamentation. The uncomplicated and functional design approach will surely catch your eye. The windows, sliders, flooring, and exterior/interior walls are all original—Marvel at the striking folded roofline, clerestory windows, and timeless design elements.

Our 2-bedroom, 2-bath retreat comfortably accommodates up to 4 overnight guests. The open-concept living areas and updated kitchen honor the home’s original aesthetic. Enjoy quality time with loved ones in the family room, featuring a dedicated table for board games and leisurely activities.

Please note that Desert Diamond Retreat is not a party house, and we kindly ask that you follow our rules regarding noise, parking, and occupancy limits. The primary occupant must be at least 25 and adhere to our house rules.

The City of Palm Springs has resumed in-person meet and greets pursuant to
PSMC 5.25.070(m). “The Owner or the Owner’s agent or representative shall
meet the Responsible Party in person at the Vacation Rental or the Owner’s
or Owner’s agent’s office prior to, or within twenty-four (24) hours of, the
commencement of the occupancy and verbally explain and describe all rules
and regulations applicable to the use of the property as a Vacation Rental
and the responsibilities of the Responsible Party to the neighbors
and the City as well as the Owner. The Owner shall secure the signature of
the Responsible Party and all adult guests to a statement of rules and regulations …”

Whether it’s a round of golf in the winter or a massage at a first-class spa resort, Palm Springs is the place to enjoy life. Often described as a small city with the cultural amenities of an urban area, the shopping, entertainment, dining and recreational opportunities are first-class.

If you have a bike, you could bike to downtown in roughly 15 minutes. Local restaurants and a super market are less than 10 minutes drive. There's also a local Palm Springs shuttle, which is free (you can find more info online).

Home Truths:
- Potential For Noise - There is a housing project on the West side of the property. They typically work from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday to Saturday.
- Glazing is single pane, original from the 60's so outside can be heard.
- Humming from pool filter from 9am-4pm.
- Hot water is on-demand (tankless heater) very hot, but takes a few minutes to reach the faucet
- Artwork and sculptures are original and not to be touched or moved. Some pieces of furniture are mid-century originals and need to be handled with care.
- The pool can get dirty very quickly at times due to desert weather. We'll do our best to get the pool company out there as soon as possible.
- The pool is not very deep and is not meant for diving. Please, watch your children closely in the pool, and swim at your own risk. Never let children unattended in the pool area.
- It can be very windy in the area; umbrellas MUST be furled and tied when not in use or windy. If umbrellas are broken due to wind damage, guests will be charged a replacement fee.
- Cleaning supplies are in places that children can easily access. Please take caution.
- Backyard is close to the neighbor, so staying within the noise ordinance is very important!
- The home is near the airport path, so noise can sometimes be heard.

Pool Heating and Spa (if applicable to this property):
- Pool heating can be hired for the whole stay: $150 for the first day then $100/day thereafter. Please inquire about extra fees if booking long (28+ night) stays;
- Pool heating when hired is limited to 84F;
- Pool does not need to be heated during the Summer months (June-August) it’s usually 80F+ naturally;
- Hosts will not be able to provide any refunds for occasional non-working pool heating that occur during your stay but we will do our best to have it solved in a timely manner.

Please abide by this rule, so you don't get fined by the police and so we don't lose our vacation rental permit.
