The ultimate Lake Lure escape awaits! This exclusive lakehouse offers incredible outdoor space with gorgeous lake and mountain views. The popular Lake House Restaurant is just around the corner – head down to the boathouse and launch the provided kayaks and paddleboards from the private dock and paddle down the cove for lakefront dining.

There’s also a large raised lakefront deck, which offers alfresco dining and loungers. Steps lead down to a small beach area, and a gas grill and wood-burning firepit invite cookouts at home.

Inside, contemporary-chic decor creates a sophisticated style, while a stone fireplace provides added warmth. Unwind into vacation mode and watch a movie in the living area. Cable is provided using a streaming app, and additional streaming services are available using your own accounts.

Find everything you need to prepare delicious recipes in the fully equipped kitchen, where sleek stainless steel appliances contrast stylishly with royal blue cabinets. When you’re ready to eat, enjoy home-cooked meals in the sunny dining area, which features a natural wood picnic-style table and fantastic lake views.

THINGS TO KNOW
-This property has numerous stairs leading down to the house and down to the lake. Not all areas have hand rails.
-Lake Lure is a man made lake that is drawn down 12 feet each winter season for maintenance. This will impact shorelines. Water will be back up to normal levels in mid April.
-Please be sure to reach out directly to organizations/businesses for current hours of operation.
-This property is managed by Vacasa North Carolina LLC.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us.

Blue Moon Cottage is a MUST stay!!!!

A perfect combination of cozy cottage and modern amenities!!! The cottage is well appointed and Deeanna is an incredible host. Not only did she answer any questions I had...but her level of excitement for us to visit truly made us feel like family!! We made the most of our visit...paddle boards, kayaks, a campfire with s'mores ...and a relaxing time in the hot tub. The ONLY disappointing part of our stay is when we had to say goodbye. We will return for sure!!! Thank you for a wonderful visit Blue Moon Cottage...you are quite a special place!💙

Lovely Lake Retreat!

We have been spending a week in September at Lake Lure for several years now; this was our favorite home thus far! It was perfect for the two of us and our dog. It would work well for a family of 4 as well I think. The home is very clean, organized and well-equipped. The boat house had kayaks and a fun raft and floats; we brought our own paddle board (there are a couple smaller ones but i have a large SUP cruiser) and it was super easy to get in and out at the stairs and shallow area. We enjoyed the house, the deck on top of the boat house, the fire pit and the hot tub. We always enjoy paddling on the lake and visiting Chimney Rock as part of our visit.

Blue to be leaving Blue Moon Cottage!

The cottage is absolutely charming and functional. We loved that most all of the water toys you could want are part of the pkg. The only thing you might want is a motorized boat (I would gladly pay extra to have access to an older party barge or boat to just slow ride around the lake to see the sights). The paddle boards, kayaks, floats etc are all easily accessible and functional. The cottage was built in the 60’s and is just a standard type one story but do NOT let this scare you! The entire cottage has been updated with nods to its history leaving the charm intact. The amenities are new, clean and work. The decor is very custom for Lake Lure with vintage postcards, pics, map, artwork showing sweet Lake Lure history. We adored Blue Moon Cottage and will definitely rent again!

Lake Life is the Best Life!

We had a wonderful trip with friends and our dogs. The house feels spacious and well appointed with items for a comfortable stay. The beds were super comfy and made for a wonderful nights sleep. The updates are beautiful and the layout really distributes bed and bath space evenly which is amazing if you are sharing with another couple. We truly enjoyed the lake toys and having meals on the deck as well as boat house. The evenings were still a bit cool so we were able to enjoy the fire pit at the waters edge a couple of night which was the perfect way to end the day. We scheduled the nostalgic sunset boat tour on a 1938 Chris Craft - the boat was stunning. The guide (also the Mayor of Lake Lure) picked us up at the boat house - talk about service. We felt spoiled. We live in Hendersonville, NC so we are only an hour away but this vacation gave us the opportunity to really enjoy the lake to the fullest. We can’t wait to come back again. The Stay Of Your Dreams

WOW 🤩 so we travel full-time and have to say this place is truly one of the most wonderful places we’ve ever stayed! The Blue Moon Cottage has it ALL 🙌 The views from the deck are something from out of this world! Seriously, we couldn’t get enough of the lake and mountain views! Before settling in to Blue Moon Cottage, we stopped at the Ingles Grocery store 3 miles away and stocked up on all the food and snacks so that we could spend as much time as possible at the property and we’re so glad we did because we didn’t want to leave during our 4 day stay! Haha it’s that perfect. Having access to all of the water sports in the boathouse made for the perfect lake vacay! We loved using the Stand Up Paddleboards and Kayaks and exploring the area by water! What a cool way to see the area. Doing yoga on the deck at sunset has to be a favorite experience for us too! We watched the sunset every night on the deck, had a little bonfire, loved using the Jacuzzi, and having movie night in the cozy living room! The interior of the space was perfectly laid out and was seriously so beautiful and comfortable, we slept like rocks in those amazing beds! Love that it’s pet-friendly and safe to say our dogs had just as amazing of a time as we did, especially with the wrap around/gated deck! It was perfection! The only time we left the cottage during our entire stay was one day for lunch and we went to Legend on the Lake to grab a bite and that was fantastic! They had great gluten free and vegetarian options too! Would absolutely recommend this stay to any and everyone for the trip of your dreams! Such a hidden gem! Can’t wait to come back someday 💛

The property was nice. Wish I would have read that the lake was closed and drained. It is posted so it is my fault for not reading it more thoroughly. If the lake was open and usable paying 1k for a two night stay seemed reasonable. Charging this for a lake house where the lake is closed should be illegal. The accommodations were nice but hardly a fair price to be on a drained lake. I would feel ashamed charging someone this price knowingly that they could not enjoy the lake.

Beautiful cottage but… stairs and more stairs! And the lake is drained

The cottage was immaculate with everything we needed for cooking. Beds and linens very comfortable. A cute place. However, know that there are many many stairs and steps and no railing for some stairs- very difficult for elderly or young. Know also that the lake is drained til 2026 so no water around the cottage even for a nice view.

Beautiful area

This cottage was the perfect size for our family’s 3 day stay (me, my husband, our two boys 10 & 13). It was very clean and seemed to be very recently remodeled beautifully. However the mattresses and couch are not very comfortable. There is so much outdoor relaxing space and the top deck over the boathouse was the perfect mix of sun and shade with plenty of seating. As of April 2025, you should know that Lake Lure is still in recovery mode from the hurricane and the lake has been drained at least 20 feet because of that. We were still able to paddle board but fishing wasn’t good. During the week, there is a LOT of rebuilding going on in surrounding homes and that was loud and not very peaceful. We knew this coming in and others should too. Grocery store is 12 minutes away which was helpful. Please be advised those groceries (and all your luggage) need to be carried from the parking spot on the top of the road, down many steps to reach the house. This wasn’t an issue for us or our older boys, but might be for elderly or very young kids. All in all, this was definitely a peaceful place and a good fit for our family. We might try it again next summer.

Perfect mountain cottage

Love this house!

Lake Lure adventure

This house is very private located on a cove with a view of the lake. The firepit, upper deck and porch gave you several spots to view the water and just relax. The cottage is updated and is very comfortable. Just a few updates that the owners could make that would make this place an even better gem.

Perfect getaway

We had the perfect long-weekend getaway at the Blue Moon Cottage! It was great being right on the water and having paddle boards, kayaks, floats and more! The space is so cozy and was perfect for our group of 4. If you’re looking for a relaxing, fun trip nestled in the mountains with gorgeous views, look no further. We will be back!

Great spot on Lake Lure

The house was just as described and looked like the pictures! Cozy yet enough space for what I needed. The location on the lake was great, in a little cove, but not right on top of other houses. Enjoyed the sun deck and swimming and paddling in the lake. Suggest bringing your own paddle board if you like that! Will definitely be back, maybe in the fall to enjoy a fire and the hot tub!

Perfect lake house

This was the perfect lake house for a girls weekend. The house is adorable and had everything we needed. Loved being able to just walk into the lake and go swimming. Plenty of rafts and kayaks there for use. Loved that chimney rock was a short drive away. Can’t wait to come back!

Blissful Vacation

We stayed for a week in June and it was amazing. The cottage is nicely decorated and well equipped with new appliances and furniture. We spent most of our time on the deck on the boat house enjoying the views, swimming, paddle boarding and relaxing! This home is truly a gem and the perfect getaway.

Loved our stay!

This place had everything we needed for a nice relaxing long weekend. The decor, the outdoor space, the views. Just stunning! I cannot wait to return. The bedding was so comfortable I slept so well. Hot water and water pressure was on point. It’s the little things. So much attention to detail on this cottage! Loved the outdoor lighting!! We spent the day hiking at Chimney rock and that was much more beautiful than I had anticipated. The little town had some great restaurants and shops right on the river.
