Family cottage walkable to Douglas Beach

Our cottage is located between Kalamazoo Lake & Lake Michigan. You can hear the roar of Lake Michigan because it's only short walk away. Oval Beach is an easy drive/bike 1.5mi ride. The downtowns of Douglas & Saugatuck are under 2mi, the latter also being accessible via the Chain Link Ferry, which is a short walk from the house. High-speed Wi-Fi (for work/school) & our cook's kitchen will make your escape a place you'll never want to leave. The Main house sleeps 8, and has 2 full bathrooms.

There is an optional, gated Guest cottage for larger parties, which sleeps 4- with its own full bathroom and dedicated kitchen. The guest house is also accessible from the front area, and is very private, Although the houses are adjacent to each other, the guest house has its own dedicated parking spot, a gated entrance, and a lovely private courtyard. We recommend booking properties together well in advance of your stay.

Quiet Girls Getaway
Five friends from high school enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing few days at this home. We spent most of our time, when at the house, on the front porch. What a gem! We saw walkers, runners, dogs, wild turkey and many deer.It was exactly what we all wanted and needed. Great house, great location and great atmosphere. Lots of great walking opportunities with a coffee shoppe and hot dogs/root beer stand nearby. The lake is also a short walk away with beautiful vistas. We did not make it up to Mount Baldy but will do so in the future! The surrounding area is great but so is the house. It was clean, updated and just perfect for our group of five.

Great place to stay in Douglas
We were very happy with our week-long stay. Cheerful, clean house, well taken care of. Great screened porch and location. It was quiet and peaceful. Would love to stay here again in the future.

Great stay and great property
We absolutely loved this property and would recommend it over and over again! Great location. Beautiful house. Great for families with children. We enjoyed watching the deer from the screened in patio in the evening and drinking our coffee out there in the morning. 10/10 stay!

Short Family Get Away
My family and I had a great weekend together at this lovely cottage home. We loved the location, house, and screened-in porch, both the porch and the interior house are beautifully decorated. The property manager was very responsive to our miscellaneous questions. In short, it’s a great place!!!!

Cedar Shores is the perfect blend of everything great about the Art Coast of Michigan. We are walking distance to:
Chain Link Ferry
Aside from the super comfortable accommodations you’ll find yourself enjoying, it is a tie between the two best amenities, but our vote goes to the Chain Link Ferry. In season- Memorial Day- Labor Day—the ferry will shuttle your- and your bike (!) across the river to downtown Saugatuck!
Douglas Beach
The house is equidistant between the Chain Link Ferry and Douglas Beach. We love Douglas Beach because it’s somewhat more subdued than Oval Beach- to which you can walk!
Mt. Baldhead
Another short walk from Cedar Shores are the steps to Mt Baldy. Not for the faint of heart, you will be rewarded with commanding views of Saugatuck on one side, and Lake Michigan on the other
Ox-bow and Crow’s Nest Trail
Ox-bow is both an art school and a bend in the river. The Crow’s Nest trailhead goes through it and is just beyond the steps to Mt Baldy. A fun, rewarding hike.
