Basswood Bungalow is an escape to a charming cottage just a short walk away (.3 miles) from a private association beach. This 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom cottage has been beautifully renovated with modern amenities, including an EV charger, while still retaining its vintage charm. The spacious living area features comfortable seating and a fireplace, perfect for chilling out after a long day at the beach or exploring Harbor Country.

Enjoy the ultimate relaxation in your own hot tub, nestled in a serene outdoor setting surrounded by nature. Prepare delicious meals in the fully equipped kitchen or on the outdoor BBQ.

Retreat to one of the two stylishly decorated bedrooms, both featuring fresh linens and comfortable bedding for a peaceful night's sleep. The day bed in the 3-season sunroom provides extra sleeping space (twin or king) or a cozy spot to curl up and read. Wake up to the soothing sounds of the birds chirping and step outside to your own outdoor space, perfect for sipping your morning coffee surrounded by nature.

We had a wonderful stay. The location was excellent. A peaceful, beautiful neighborhood within walking distance to a private beach access. We loved the hot tub, fire pit and hammock. We watched movies on the big screen tv. Rode bikes. Ate at The Stray Dog and Beer Church Brewery. Shopped downtown. The beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. Communication was great. Highly recommend!!!

Adorable little bungalow that allowed us access to enjoy many outside activities -- hiking, the beach, hitting the art shops and then relaxing by the fire or in the hot tub.Some food suggestions? Breakfast at Jackie's or Dave's Deli and you cannot go wrong. Dinner at the Terrace Room or Brewsters is excellent. I would pass on The Stray Dog. Average burgers and the view isn't that great after all.We'll likely be back sometime.

The property is very clean, very comfortable with everything you need for an enjoyable vacation. Beth ( the owner) has the house stocked with everything u need. The house is on a quiet street just a few minutes from 2 entrances to the beach. The house is less than a 5 min drive to restaurants, a grocery store, shopping and Starbucks’ everything for an enjoyable stay!

This is the perfect cottage for a family of four beach getaway. It was spotlessly clean and well-stocked with all of the necessities plus extras - beach chairs and umbrella, children's toys, etc. The nearby, private neighborhood beach was a pleasant walk away. It was peaceful, clean, and beautiful. Many thanks to Beth for providing this cozy nook for our family retreat.

My wife and I and our three young children stayed at the cottage for 5 days. It is a charming place, in an idyllic setting. The house had everything you would need, and my kids loved the bunk bed room, along with the toys and games at the house. The area is awesome, secluded and private, but close enough for restaurants/bars/shops/attractions. The beach is a 5 minute walk away and was perfect.Beth was great to deal with, accomodated an early check-in, and provided local recommendations.100% would stay here again.

The bungalow was our favorite rental yet! From beach toys to puzzles and games to kids silverware and cups, Beth has thought of everything. The short walk to the private beach was lovely, and the location to everything in New Buffalo and Union Pier was so convenient. We’re already planning to book again next year.

Could not ask for a better place to stay at. The house was filled with everything we needed. Access to the private beach was a really nice perk. Beth is one of the most proactive and thoughtful hosts we have ever encountered using VRBO. She went above and beyond to take care of every inquiry we had for the entire family! We hope to stay here again next summer since it felt so much like home while we were there.

Perfect Getaway

We really enjoyed staying at the property. The inside was updated nicely. The hot tub was perfect and the beds were very comfortable. The host provided plenty of towels and easy check in. The beach was a short walk. It was a great place to spend a long weekend.

We had a great time staying here as a little family getaway. The beach is close walking distance. The house had everything we needed from games and kids books to utensils for cleaning! Would love to come stay again.

The getaway we needed!

The place was exactly as advertised and Beth was a responsive and wonderful host. The beach access (10/10 beautiful spot), hot tub, and fire pit (though a little buggy) were highlights. The beds are very comfortable and everything felt clean. The kitchen is very well stocked with things to make meals at home. It was really wonderful and we'll be back! Thank you!

Perfect Lake House for a Weekend Getaway

This house fit our needs perfectly. The host, Beth, was more than accommodating and responded quickly to any questions we had (thanks for having us, Beth!). The house had all the amenities that you could ask for and then some. I found things that I didn't even know I would need were already available at the property which came in handy! The property is nestled in a beautiful neighborhood on the shores of Lake Michigan and is secluded enough that you can sit around the fire and listen to tunes long into the night if that's your vibe. My only complaint is that the locals were a little iffy about sharing their private beach access, although we may have been using the wrong access point (it was slightly confusing) but that's not a ding on the property or host by any means. Overall, 10/10 would recommend! If we have a chance, we will absolutely stay at this cottage again in the future.

Fantastic Stay!

This is a wonderful spot! You are close to the private beach, close to downtown New Buffalo Communications were excellent. Check in/out was quick and easy! We loved the hot tub and fire pit! Great location! We will come back for sure!
