Viimeinen vieras kirjoitti vieraskirjaamme .... "tämä paikka on kauniiden ulkopuolella ... ... Sen lisäksi, että Retreat on taivaalla niin kaunis, että se on upea auringonlasku, niin se on niin erikoinen, että se on turvattu kuisti, jossa on poreallas. Tämä tarkoittaa, että voit nauttia kylpytynnyrin sateesta tai loistosta, lumesta tai sateesta. Rentoutuminen kylpytynnyrissä ja lumen tulossa on uskomaton hoito. Rentoutuminen turvatarkastetuilla kuistilla vuoristonäköalalla on myös hyvin erikoinen hoito!

Ty ja minä olemme puhuneet ja tavanneet monia ihania uusia ystäviä, jotka ovat pysyneet kanssamme kaikkialta Yhdysvalloista sekä Englannista, Hollannista, Saksasta, Brasiliasta, Kiinasta, Norjasta, Kanadasta ja Suomesta. Truly a retreat in the sky

We had a great time during our weekend stay here. The view from the cabin is amazing, and the drive up there is not bad at all. The host, Sandy, is very communicative and even allowed early check-in and late check-out for us. The cabin feels very homey, and has everything needed for a great vacation including books, games, firepit (indoor and outdoor), kitchen utensils, condiments, and of course, the covered hot tub! The location is very close to Bryson city and deep creek area where there are many hiking opportunities.

Awesome mountain stay

Retreat in the Sky

Sandy was so great to work with! The cabin was very homey, clean, and had everything we needed for a great stay. The view of the mountains was exceptional!! It was so nice to come in after a day of hiking, ziplining, and shopping to have the hot tub waiting to soak our tired muscles in.

Perfect get away

My daughter and I wanted time to unplug and get away from everything and boy did Sandy deliver! The first thing you need to know is that the house is at the very TOP of the mountain and the road is steep. We arrived after dark and Sandy stayed on the phone to help us navigate the terrain and make sure we were safe. She was absolutely fabulous! The house has lots of space and decor is fun. We enjoyed opening the doors and hearing all the nature sounds. Very quiet and peaceful. Great view and incredible hot tub! If you want to “go” and “do”, or go for a walk, you’re going to have to go down the mountain, a short drive. We’ll be back.

Great Views, great owner.

We booked a couple months earlier and were looking forward to the getaway. The owners were awesome all the way through in communication and making sure we were happy. The views from the property are outstanding and the home itself is comfy and cozy. My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much.

Anniversary Vacation

This cabin is exceptionally clean and well furnished. The hot tub is in a screened in porch, so it can be enjoyed even if the weather does not cooperate. The view is beautiful.

Amazing views. Waking up to see the fog over the mountain tops was very beautiful. Enjoyed our time on Lake Fontana and visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Rafting down Deep Creek was an experience. Will definitely want to come back.

Great Recharge

Great place to recharge. Quiet, semi-secluded w/breathtaking views, but close to town and supermarket. Best of both worlds. The cabin is quaint and one feels at home instantly upon entering. A big bonus is the photo album, which contains all of the photos of the build process of the cabin. Thank you Sandy and Ty for allowing us to enjoy your home!

Hidden Gem

Over the years, we've stayed in many different cabins in many different areas of the Smoky Mountains. The Retreat in the Sky is the best we've experienced! The comfort and amenities are second to none, and the views are absolutely priceless. Communication from Sandy was timely and very helpful. We expect to visit here again in the future :-)

A perfect quiet retreat

If you are looking for a place with a view, calmness and a hot tub than you have found it! The entire stay I felt like I was visiting family (who just happened to not be in the space with me). The home is decorated so adorably and cozy. The view (in late February) brings a calmness to the property and I found myself trying to find ways to enjoy the deck even though it was only a high of 50 during my stay. The hot tub took some time to heat since there had not been a prior guest to my visit, but the host informed me of this before my arrival to make sure I was aware. So thoughtful! Everything felt clean and the bed was comfortable. Be sure to check out the photo album that shows the cabin being built... So cool! look forward to returning when flowers are blooming!

Just 15 minutes outside Bryson City, the Retreat was our most restful stay in many years of travelling. Once you’ve wound your way up through the cove and arrived at the house, the mountains are your personal domain. Views go on forever, uninterrupted by the lights and noise of civilization. There is just one lone cell tower in the distance, with a gentle, slow blink … blink; white in the day, red at night.A full width deck faces out to the southwest view, with lots of seating options. Perfect for morning coffee, pastel sunsets, and stargazing. Or, just sit inside and open the doors to let the mountain breezes flow through. Lots of natural wood in the interior, windows all the way up for maximum scenery, houseplants of many varieties, and a goodly number of bears, tiny figurines to large stuffed. Fireplace in front of a sleep-inducing sofa … any cat tendencies in your nature will emerge on a sunlit afternoon. I feel a nap coming on just thinking about it. Or, for a more thorough sleep, there is a bedroom downstairs and another in the loft, which is perfect for waking up to look at the tops of clouds … or maybe it’s just valley mist … one can dream, don’t you think? Kitchen has everything you need to throw together a gourmet meal (or some simple comfort food). Ingles grocery is just 10 minutes away on the near side of town. The screened-in porch has more comfy seating and the hot tub (yay!). Definitely works to soak away your cares and worries. We will go back soon.

Homey Mountain Getaway

This house was so super sweet! My family of four spent Thanksgiving here and it was the perfect relaxing getaway! We even cooked Thanksgiving dinner and had plenty of kitchen supplies. The kids loved the loft sleeping area, the hot tub was perfect after a day of shopping and hiking and the view was gorgeous! The driveway is NO JOKE! Bring your four wheel drive vehicle, for sure. A fantastic family holiday!

Cozy Cabin with Beautiful Views

We stayed for 5 nights and what a fantastic getaway! It was really cold while we were there, but with the fireplace, it helped keep the cabin warm and made us that much more relaxed. The cabin is really well-furnished and there is about everything you would need in terms of amenities, such as towels, toiletries, a great little kitchen with plenty of dishes and utensils. What's really nice is that the drive is short into Bryson City, yet you would never know you were that close to any city at all. The elevation of the cabin is just over 2600 feet and tucked away in the trees and impressive mountains. Kudos to Sandy as this place is a true gem and there's a good chance we will be back to visit again!

Beautiful Views - Total Privacy - Wonderful Memories

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Nelson’s Retreat in the Sky - and that it was!! A top of the mountain- with wonderful breath taking views. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at this location - it was as close to heaven as you can get!! Bryson City had everything to offer and everything is so close - yet you have the privacy and seclusion at the cabin location. We enjoyed many outings and then came back to enjoy the wonderful views and relaxation of the hot tub or just sitting on the porch - that this rental has to offer. The week went by toooo fast! Sandy and Ty were absolutely a charm to deal with from the very begiinning - keeping in contact with us through the whole process of securing their rental all the way thru arrival. Sandy truly makes you feel as if their home is your home for the time of your stay - she is such an angel - so thoughtful and caring. GREAT Place For All Kinds of Weather

No matter when you travel, there will always be a great spot on this property to hang out. The design of this cabin was well thought out and is functional for every season. The covered porch with hot tub is perfect rain or shine or even snow! An open porch with a swing is the perfect relaxation spot for warm or cool days and you can enjoy the birds, squirrels and foliage as well as sunsets. Want an outdoor fire? Settle in around the fire pit and enjoy roasting marshmallows and sharing stories. If you are chilly in inclement weather, lounge inside in front of cozy fireplace. You can still take a dip in the hot tub and then head in to a toasty warm living room with the ambeance of a fire. We enjoyed our stay so much here and could easily have lounged around the cabin and never left. In fact we have booked a second stay here next year and will definitely designate days with no adventures and just rest and enjoy the peaceful solace of the cabin. Kudos to the hosts for having plenty of towels, spices and condiments galore and kitchen cooking essentials. This property is a gem as well as the host!

We loved the tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. The view of the mountains was beautiful. sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. The cabin was comfortable and had everything one would need for a long stay. our host was so very gracious and kind, and responded to any messages that were sent. We absolutely loved our stay at Retreat in the Sky, and we hope to make it back. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful place.

We had an absolute blast staying at the Retreat in the Sky this year. My friends & I take this yearly cabin trip to attend a car meet, and we created such special memories this year being at Sandy's cabin! Sandy herself was kind and communicative, and their vacation home was maximized coziness, perfect for s'mores, movie nights, sunsets in the hot tub, and plenty more. We're still unsure what next year brings for us four, but if we stay in-state, we'll definitely book again!

We fell in love with Bryson City the first time we visited. It is quaint, friendly and surrounded by beautiful mountains. We found the perfect spot to build our second home. It's close to the top of Bear Cove Mountain in the Smokies. Our view is beautiful. Retreat in the Sky has a privacy that is hard to describe. Our first home is three hours away and twenty five years later, with our car packed with all our stuff, heading for Bryson City and our Retreat in the Sky, we're still excited.... after all these years, we still can't wait to get there.

Sitting on the swing on our deck...enjoying the beautiful view...is the ultimate in relaxation. Retreat in the Sky can only be reached by driving up the private road and then you drive up some more on our paved driveway. We are not on the road so no one can see us or drive by us. So you see, we also have the ultimate in privacy. We not only have a beautiful deck filled with flowers and a wonderfully landscaped setting, but a large screened porch complete with hot tub and a great place to hang out. We're only five minutes from Ingles Supermarket, the quaint town of Bryson City and only ten minutes from just about everywhere else.

We took a survey from vrbo/homeaway a few years back that results showed that only 21% of property owners that rent their vacation homes use it themselves. We use ours every chance we get. Not only because we love being there but because we want to maintain the high standards we set for ourselves in maintaining our beautiful vacation home. .
