Welcome to your next vacation getaway destination! 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Main level amenities include the Kitchen, Living Room, Dining area, and Master bedroom with king , one full bath. Upper level is 2 enclosed bedrooms with one full and one with two twins. Shared full bath on this level along with an open loft area for watching TV or working from home.
Just added to our Moonlight Cabins program in July 2023 .Renters have access to the outdoor pool during the summer months as well as hiking trails, clubhouse, fitness center, tennis, campground, fishing, paddle boating, and more. The house is a great getaway, located just a few hours from Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston Salem, and Raleigh. The home is furnished with a good supply of kitchen amenities including Drip and keurig coffee maker, blender, crockpot, pots and pans, small selection of spices, and all your utensils, cutting boards, baking pans etc. All linens are provided. As for the wood burning fireplace, please bring your own firewood. Or let the manager know at least a week prior to arrival and we can have some ordered. The house has satellite internet with VIASAT you will be able to stream your favorite flicks! Cell phone signal is descent especially if you have Verizon but wifi calling is available. (check the settings on your phone) This house is the absolute getaway.PETS are $50 PER PET and charged separately after your initial booking, max 2. Please make note of any pets when you book. Just minutes to Boone, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, West Jefferson, High County festivals, Fly Fishing, Blue Ridge Mountains, Appalachian Trail,Wineries, Breweries, App State Football! Shopping and local restaurants galore!

Powder Horn Mountain is located in Deep Gap, NC. Just south of Boone, NC. The community is gated with about 250 single family homes. They have their own trail system along Laurel Creek (tons of swimming holes and fishing spots). Community clubhouse with game room, fitness center, conference room, and rentable commercial kitchen for anyone looking to do an event on site. Three ponds, playground, campground, tennis court, half basketball court, 13 miles to Appalachian State! Full time maintenance and gated entry!

- A signed rental agreement is required to fully confirm this booking.
- ALL Trash must be bagged in large kitchen bags, including pup pick up bags. $25 fee per bag if it doesn't fit in the provided outside trash container. We do NOT recycle but there is a recycle center nearby off Jakes Mountain Road.

We had a wonderful time staying in Tarta Nest! The rain was relentless at times but that didn’t matter the house provided games and plenty of space to relax! I can’t say enough about the property manager…she went above and beyond to make sure our stay was special! We love Powder Horn mountain and moonlight properties, this is our 3rd stay and we are already planning our 4th getaway!!

Tucked away paradise

This was a great location away from the hustle of daily stresses. Quieter than my normal. Breathe taking views, there was even a fly by military fighter jets at eye level. Would definitely recommend this location.

Overall good

Overall we had a great stay. We were disappointed that upper windows were tarped off for some work that needed to be done that blocked some of the beautiful view, however the host communicated this to us at arrival time. She was great at communicating in general when I had questions or concerns!

Great ski vacation

Loved staying at this cabin! It was easy to find with great instructions from the manager. It had a lot of the daily necessary things needed to feel like your own home. We also had some bad winter weather come through and the manager stayed in constant contact with helpful updates to ensure we weren’t left unprepared.

Ball Game/ Parents Weekend

Two night stay

The cabin was very nice and clean. The wrap around deck was nice with the gates to keep our dog in. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils you need. The beds were very comfortable. It would have been nice to have had a map layout showing what's in the area. We found the club house rather easy but had a hard time finding access to the creek to take our dog. We did not find any hiking trails but the neighborhood is a nice walking area. The main problem we had was out GPS brought us onto the parkway and then to a 4 mile narrow graveled road. Luckily we did not meet and cars! We arrived at a back gate where a road grader was parked. The gate code worked so we went in but it was obviously not where we should have entered. Our son and grandson came later but did not have the problem we had. We followed them out on a much better road than what we went in on.

Great host and awesome cabin and even better view of the ridge

Everything was great, it was a great surprise to see they had wireless cellphone chargers since I forgot my cable! The only suggestion I would give to the manager of the place is to clean the upper side of the window at the family room a bit more often so the amazing view can also be enjoyed from the loft of the cabin

PEACEFUL & GREAT FOR FAMILY

LOCATION Perfect spot. Great gated community. club house w library and game room and workout center. pedal boats on the ponds. fishing, walking trails, lots of deer. CABIN loved the open kitchen and den and loft. great floor plan. comfy beds, nice recliner and reclining couch. well stocked with necessities including a first aid kit and flashlights which we forgot. Deck was nice w comfy chairs. Steep driveway. Cool screens on doors. HOST easy and helpful to work with. If you're looking for a family friendly spot, this place is quiet, roomy but cozy, and great to have places to explore in the gated community.

Rainy stay

The property was as listed but unfortunately it rained continuously for our whole stay prompting us to leave a day early. Also we discovered a bat in the living area one nite and had to catch and dispose of it..not fun. The bat did not come in through the fireplace as the management co. Suggested but from an opening next the fireplace where wood was stored. Would recommend sealing that up to keep unwanted animals out. An unfortunate and rainy situation for us but I guess thats the risk you take when you book a place so far in advance.

Mountain Getaway

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place has the rustic cabin feel you hope for when staying in the middle of nowhere, with all of the modern aneneties you desire. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, this is it. You are not just in the mountains but on TOP of the mountain (no kidding, it's really high up)!When you first arrive you will be shocked at the breath-taking views. You'll fall in love with the cabin and all of the comforts of home. A few perks--strong wifi-very kid-freindly-comfortable beds and couches-nice showers-a bidet!-the kitchen has EVERYTHING-the clubhouse has a pool, game room, a decent gym (far better than a hotel gym).Less than perfect (but zero takeawy from the experience)--the driveway is narrow and a little hard to navigate-some of the doors got stuck often-it rained all week (likely why the doors were sticking)-the community features (pool, lake, club house, tennis courts) are a drive rather than walk (I forgot to map that!). No biggie. A must- visit the campground. Hike to the 4 points on the trail. The blue hole felt farther than the 2 miles it claimed, but it was worth it. You will cross through the creek several times and climb some steep and narrow be prepared. Bring a snack and water. It took us 6 hours in and back! It was so worth it. I submitted a few photos on Google maps.On the property management-LIFE SAVERS. No joke. We ran into some scary car trouble and called them for help. She had someone to us in 10 min. There was a binder on the counter. It had so much helpful information. Things to do, places to eat, nearby grocery stores. All rentals should take notes. This was our vacation bible. The checkout process was the easiest I've experienced.Go. Disconnect. Enjoy a beautiful place. You won't regret it!

Absolute Gem!

Our stay here was nothing short of perfect. The house was impeccably clean, offered stunning views, and was situated in an ideal location. It was also incredibly kid-friendly, equipped with books and toys that our children adored, especially the parachute toys they loved dropping from the loft. Communication with the property manager was seamless; she was always prompt in her responses and even assisted in shipping back items we accidentally left behind. The community itself offers a plethora of activities, from hiking trails to a refreshing pool. Our children had endless fun playing in the creek. Additionally, Boone is just a short drive away, offering attractions like mini-golf, shopping, and even a nearby brewery. Choosing this place for our summer family vacation was an excellent decision. The moment we left, my family was already asking if we could return next year.

A Getaway with Everything

First of all this home is a haven from our summer heat with the big deck doors emitting a breeze into the house at all times and ceiling fans. This house has all the amenities for day to day living and cooking. The wrap around deck has blockage to permit pets to run around secured. Fantastic huge reclining chairs for watching the large panel TV. Instructions everywhere to help with internet access, pool pass words, etc. The management is very responsive to any issue and access at arrival is a breeze. The private street is an added bonus as is the swimming pool and tennis court. and all only about 15-20 minutes to Boone. I recommend this home highly.
