Just because you can sleep 14 doesn’t mean you should

I am writing this review with a lot of experience renting beach homes for our large family vacation and as the owner of a rental unit I take care of in Tennessee. The description of this house is very misleading. It is listed as 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. However, in reality it is a 3 bedroom with 1 bathroom, and then in a detached part of the property there is another “bedroom” with a split shower and toilet in other rooms. This may be OK for some people, but it made it problematic for us because we did not feel like we could just leave the younger kids in another part of the property. In addition to this the entire property is only 1300sqft. This is tiny and is not setup for large families. For example you can technically sleep 8 people in the bunk bedroom, but there is no place to put luggage, clothes, no hooks to hang bath towels, etc. In a nutshell the Location is FANTASTIC you are literally 50 steps from the beach, The Main house is nice, the Kitchen is very impressive and the beds are comfortable, It is a great beach house for 6-8 people max. The detached 1 bedroom- 1 bath (aka the dungeon) is terrible, the fridge smells like fish, when you step out of the shower, there is no shades on the two windows so anyone can easily peep on you. the window air unit is way underpowered, the pull out coach is supper uncomfortable. It would be the perfect place to sleep the help if we were in Downton Abby’s time. This unit is over priced for what you get.

Wouldn't recommend

When we first got to the house the door knob to the main house was falling apart. My husband had to tighten it with a kitchen knife. The AC isn’t strong enough to cool the entire house. The bunk bed area, the dinning area and the living room were hot and humid. Clearly the bunk bed and dinning area were an addition when this house was renovated. The humidity and wetness made all the air vents in these two areas drip water on the ground and on the bunk beds. Sleeping was sweaty and wet. The windows and doors are not weather sealed properly so not only do you get outdoor humidity coming in but we also had bugs and ants in the house. The wall of windows in the dining area have no curtains so during the day it becomes a sweat box. At night, because they don’t have any type of curtains on these windows you need to keep all the lights out because of the sea turtles. In the bunk bed room they only have one curtain panel per two windows so if you sleep in there you will wake up with the sun. Also, if you don’t read the listing closely the main house only has one bathroom. The washer and dryer are also not in the main house. They are outside in a detached mother in law suite with a window unit that keeps that area at a warm moist temp. In the car port, the lights that they have are falling off their ceiling attachment so if you’re tall you will be hit in the head. This house renovation could have been great if it was done correct and they had spent the extra costs to do it properly.
