Cute getaway

Super cute property, a tornado hit right before our stay so we didn’t get to enjoy the beauty of the backyard until we cleaned it. If your staying bring toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, and face towels there was none upon arrival. Overall a beautiful property though just wish the host communication was better.

The house looks way better in photos than in person. The kitchen has no microwave friendly dishes or cleaning supplies plus is not "fully stocked". There was one hand towel for 4 bathrooms and no bath mats. There is a lot of furniture missing or broken and the outside area is barely usable. There is a fence section laying on the ground,the shed door is just hanging open broken,the grills are unusable. The whole back yard is just a mess with over grown weeds everywhere. We were very excited to do s'mores one night but decided against it since it was a mess. The floors inside have holes/sinking in or are very soft when you walk on parts. All of the doors stick when you close them and my daughter actually got stuck in her room at one point. For the price it would be nice if it was maintained and properly cleaned before the guests arrive.

Location is great, the house not so much

This property is pretty much a cheap flip with minimal thought put into the guest’s comfort and experience. Almost none of the doors close completely, some of them do not close at all. The walls are paper thin and any sound carries throughout the house. These things are not uncommon in rental houses so as annoying as they are, it’s not the end of the world. The biggest annoyance was how bare the house was of the most basic things. The kitchen is minimally stocked, limited cooking utensils and nothing microwave or oven safe. We went out and bought a cookie sheet ourselves so we could cook pizzas. There are grills in the backyard (which looks nothing like the picture btw; picture overgrown with weeds and the fence falling down) but there’s no propane or anything to run them. There are no bath mats outside the showers so the floors are super slippery when wet after a shower. The biggest vote for this property is its proximity to the beach- it is in a great location! At the end of the day, that’s what we came for anyway

Room for Family

Christina always responded in a timely manner to my questions. Good house with plenty of bedrooms with their own bathrooms which was a plus. Outdoor area nice place to relax and read which had a nice breeze. Depending on traffic, took us about 20-25 minutes to the Indiana Dunes Parks.

I recently stayed at a VRBO property in Gary, Indiana (Miller Beach Blue Door By The Shore #3) from July 17–20, and I can confidently say it was one of the worst travel experiences of my life—not only because of the condition of the property, but because of the way both the host and VRBO corporate handled the situation.From the start, the property was not as advertised. There was visible damage to the floors, damage to one of the bedroom doors, and worst of all, severe basement flooding that occurred during our stay. Despite paying as a guest, I was expected to clean up this flooding myself—using towels, as advised by the owner, Christina Lee. No mop. No squeegee. Just towels.When I reached out to Ms. Lee, she casually mentioned that this was a known issue and told me she probably couldn't get a plumber out since it was a Saturday, but maybe someone could come by Sunday or Monday. That was useless to me, as we were leaving early Sunday morning.Initially, Ms. Lee offered two free nights on a future visit, but I informed her I had no intention of returning. Eventually, we agreed on a 25% refund for one night, which I still felt was insufficient given the circumstances—but I accepted it just to be done with the situation.However, after I provided my Cash App info (since I don’t use Zelle), the refund never came. Ms. Lee stopped responding to my messages altogether.That’s when I turned to VRBO corporate, hoping the company would stand behind its customers. I spoke with
