Perfect for a big family getaway!

Wonderful stay. Lots of room for our family to spread out & to gather when we prepared meals and visited. The house is clean & comfortable. A perfect family retreat! There are so many things to do in this beautiful area - we ran out of time to do all that we wanted!

Great spot

We loved this location and the property. Had a couple small issues that were promptly taken care of. The fire pit was great, plenty of room in the house, kitchen was well equipped. The short walk to the little town was a bonus.

Great Home

Great home, with a great layout that would easily accommodate a larger group. We only had four people in the house, but we all got our own bedroom, and had a nice amount of privacy. Very well maintained. Location is great, right on The Summit golf course.

Annual Family vacation

Our family had a great time at this Shanty Creek rental. There was so much to do. We enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor pool, golfing, a beach and playground in Bellaire, explored the near by towns and all the room to spread out and relax in the evenings. The large kitchen was a huge plus with our large group. We will keep it on our list of places to return to.

Great trip to Shanty and Schuss

We enjoyed staying at Bogey Run. Good location that is very close to Summit Mountain (for pool, hot tub, and snow tubing) and just a short drive to Schuss for skiing. The house is very spacious and comfortably fit 6 adults + 8 kids. Trent was a great host. Thanks

Awesome Family vacation

Home was large enough and laid out well to accommodate 3 generations. Weather did not cooperate so no golfing but they had plenty of things to do inside to keep everyone happy.

Very clean house

We had plenty of room for 11 family members. Place was well stocked with pots, pans and table ware. We went up to use the pool at the Lake View hotel. It was really nice, but they do not give out towels to non guests of the hotel. The towels for guests are provided in their rooms. So, I would bring a beach or other towel if you plan to use the pool. Had a nice stay.

Fun and adventure

Never a dull moment. Long days at Torch Lake on the pontoon, enjoying the water at the sand bar. Meeting new people and the tubing was exciting. When the weather was inclement, we went to the little towns and shopped at the quaint stores. Having the pool pass helped, too.. A lot of wonderful memories were made.

Family Vaca

We had a very relaxing fun time together. Lots of laughs sitting by the fire, the golfers enjoyed a couple days in the courses, we all enjoyed the pools, hot tub and beach. We rented a boat and went fishing one day, then another day explored Torch Lake on a pontoon. Was so clear. Didn’t need the ocean!! Not crowded, people were very friendly, just an amazingly relaxing time!! Oh, forgot to mention the awesome goofy golf, bumper boats and go cart racing. We were never bored!! Thanks for sharing your neck of the woods!! It was beautiful!!

Family Vacation

The only reason not a 5 star review is the statement of air conditioned is very misleading. There is only one bedroom that is air conditioned. During a hot summer week the other 4 bedrooms were uncomfortable to sleep. Otherwise the property had all the amenities to create a wonderful vacation. Trent was very responsive and communicative with any concerns and in fact was proactive in telling us about the previous renters and additional time being needed to clean the unit.

Family Fun Perfection

To say this home was the perfect place to make wonderful family memories would be an understatement!! We had 8 adults and 5 children ( 4 years old and under ) We had plenty of room to spread out for naps and playtime as well as plenty of room to be together as a family. No detail was left unthought of. From the well stocked kitchen, we loved all the small appliances included( crock pots, griddle, coffee makers, blender and much more!! ) to the indoor and outdoor games! The back yard was wonderful for the kids to run and play and spend all their extra energy. The fire pit was nice for the adults to relax at in the evenings.The guys enjoyed a morning of golfing on one of the pristine golf courses. The proximity to the nice indoor and outdoor pool was great and the kids loved spending time there. We rented a boat for the day on beautiful Torch Lake and it was just a short drive to that and many restaurants and attractions. There was also shopping close by. This stay exceeded our expectations and we are very thankful we choose this Shanty Creek resort for our family to play, relax and make tons of memories to last a lifetime!! The host Trent was VERY responsive and wonderful to work with as well making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay!

A great central location for summer golfing & winery outings

This is my family’s second summer staying in Shanty Creek. We were a group of 10 with 6 adults & 4 kids, and this house was the perfect amount of space for us. Everyone was able to spread out & the kids had their own space to play and relax. The upstairs can get a little warm in the summer, but with the extra fans running it wasn’t a problem. This is the perfect central location if you plan to go on several different outings. We spent a morning at the Avalanche Bay water park in Boyne, the men were able to enjoy a few rounds of golf, & the women in our group drove to the Leelanau peninsula for wine tasting. So much to do in the area! The kids loved the pools at the hotel & the beach club. We did have a unexpected issue with the house, but Trent & Kerri were quick to handle the situation. Great people & so easy to communicate with! Thank you for a great week!

Great Location Poor Ventilation

This is a very large house with an exceptional view of the golf course. Everyone had a their own bedroom with ample parking even for our boats. The neighbors were nice and shanty creek is only about a mile away. Please keep in mind that only part of the house has AC (basement, living room, and one bedroom) the rest of the house had issues with ventilation causing us to leave bedroom doors open and fans running 24/7. The mother-in-law lock off was nice however there weren't any window treatments in the bathroom window causing the room to be visible from the deck. There were a few bedrooms that didn't have window treatments in them as well There was an issue of dirt and debris all over the deck and roof however this comes with the territory being partially wooded. I called the owner and told him this upon our arrival. He apologized and stated a tree or part of a tree was removed a week earlier. This being said at the end of our trip the cleaning lady tried to charge us for some dirt that was tracked in. I was unaware of any dirt marks at the entry of the deck. Also be aware that the owner request that you transport all trash to another building roughly a mile away. This is something my family was not to happy about. The was also a plumbing issue during the holiday that was resolved later that day by a certified plumber. I did like this place and I would refer a friend or family for future visit. At the time I rented Trent was a newer property owner and I have sure a year later he has fixed all the bugs. He corresponded promptly thru emails phone and texts during the entire process. ALL in all we had a great vacation!

Golf Friends Weekend

This property is beautiful big enough for our group of eight. Very conveniently located for 4 days of golfing. Very clean. Each couple had their own bathroom I highly recommend this property

Greetings to our guests and we welcome you to our Shanty Creek / Schuss Mountain home! We grew up in Michigan and have come back - where so many fond childhood memories were made. Now, we are excited to begin making some memories for our children, and yours too! After a long career in professional baseball, it has been great to return back to our home state. Our five kids love the area and they are so active that it really keeps us young...ok, the hair is gone, but feel 21. We are so excited to host family and friends. Our home is large enough for many people to feel comfortable and uncrowded with big open spaces and vaulted ceilings, yet the fireplace and architecture can provide a comforting atmosphere.

We were in awe each and every time of the superb value and how much was offered to do for us, and our kids. Since both of us are from Michigan, we decided it would be a great idea to promote our 'home' state with all the great hospitality the people provide and the natural beauty of Northern Michigan. We also wanted to provide a place that people would want to return again, and again. We think we have accomplished that in this lovely home.

There are SO many things to do, we simply always run out of time and just can't do them all. In addition, each season provides new things to see and do and it makes for a fun place to visit and stay in ALL seasons. We love to snowboard, ski, golf, swim, boat, snowmobile and we can do them all here. Plus, my son forced me to buy the place as it would serve his quest to be a pro fisherman...just kidding. Come and visit and enjoy your family and friends. Many great memories can be made here and we feel blessed to be a small part of all your lives.
