The house is in a beautiful location and has an amazing view. It is situated high on the mountain so there is a steep gravel road that leads to the home. The fall was lovely, but the reservoir was very low, the marina was closed as a result. We still were able to fish off the shore and caught a lot of trout. Beautiful area. Stairs are required to enter the house. The kitchen is well-equipped.While the house was cleaned prior to arrival, there was a very strong odor of animals within the stairwell and bottom floor. We did discuss with the host, tried to air out the place, but the smell was still very strong. We had the option to leave, but we made the choice to stay. We could not use the bottom level as a result of the smell. My son had to sleep on the coach on the main level. The host was responsive to our concerns during our stay, offered to help find us a location elsewhere, but we wanted to stay in Vallecito by the lake. We could not find an alternate place in Vallecito given the short notice, so we stayed and did not use the bottom floor. There is one bedroom on the top level and two in the bottom.We would not stay here again. The home is in need of attention due to the smell and a few other factors. It didnât sound like the host was aware of the smell. The cost does not support the condition of the home. It was unfortunate and disappointing.
