Discover Hygge River House, a Scandinavian-inspired retreat perched above the Shenandoah River. Designed for warmth, simplicity, and connection, this four-bedroom home blends clean modern design with sweeping views and a calm sense of place. Mornings begin softly with light through the trees, and evenings end by the glow of the fire — a true embrace of `hygge` living.

Main Level —
Step inside to an open kitchen and dining area, fully equipped for home-cooked meals and easy gatherings. Just beyond, the living room offers an all-season electric fireplace, comfortable seating, and natural textures that invite slow mornings or cozy evenings.

Two queen bedrooms sit off the main living area, each designed with soft lighting, restful linens, and a sense of quiet simplicity. A full bathroom is located nearby.

Sunroom —
A few steps down from the main floor, the bright sunroom features wraparound windows and a touch of the home’s history—its original record player, now a decorative piece. It’s an inviting spot for reading, morning coffee, or simply taking in the light.

Lower Level —
Descend to the lower level, where floor-to-ceiling windows open to mountain views. This space includes a movie and game room with a 65” TV, foosball table, and comfortable lounge seating. Three sliding glass doors lead directly onto the lower deck, perfect for relaxing in the sun or unwinding after sunset. A half bath is also located on this level.

Upper Level —
Upstairs, two additional bedrooms provide flexible sleeping space. One features a queen bed and private full bathroom; the second includes two twin beds. Each room carries the same calming design and thoughtful details found throughout the home.

Outdoor Spaces —
Step outside to discover multiple decks, each designed for a different rhythm of the day—dining, lounging, or simply soaking in the mountain air. The nearby hot tub and fire pit offer peaceful spots to unwind under the stars or share a quiet drink by the glow of the flames. Guests often spot bald eagles gliding overhead or perched in the nearby trees.

A private trail winds down the hillside to the river, ending in a quiet grassy clearing where guests can sit, listen to the water, and take in the views. Please note that the path is fairly steep and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

In the front yard, open space invites play and connection, with room for Cornhole, badminton, and Spikeball on sunny afternoons.

⚡ Vehicle Access & EV Charging • The home is accessible year-round via paved and gravel roads, with the final quarter mile on well-maintained gravel. Most vehicles (2WD) can reach the property easily; during winter or icy conditions, AWD or 4WD may be recommended. The driveway accommodates up to four vehicles. A dedicated Level 2 EV charger with both Tesla (NACS) and J1772 connectors is provided for guest use.

📶 Connectivity • High-speed WiFi supports streaming, remote work, and video calls throughout the home. Cell service can be limited in the area, but once connected to WiFi, guests remain reliably online.

🐕 Pets • Due to allergies and property setup, pets are not permitted at Hygge River House. Guests seeking a dog-friendly stay are encouraged to explore our nearby pet-welcoming cabins.

🚼 Family-Friendly Amenities • Families will find everything needed for a seamless stay, including a Pack ’n Play crib, full-sized highchair, and children’s tableware.

🧯 Safety & Cleanliness • All bedding, linens, and quilts are professionally laundered between each reservation. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits are provided. A professional cleaning team prepares and inspects the home before every arrival.

🦌 Wildlife & Setting • Set high above the Shenandoah River, the home is surrounded by forest and open sky. Guests often spot deer, rabbits, foxes, and bald eagles. While the property is carefully maintained, the natural setting means occasional insects or small critters may appear.

🌊 River Access • A private trail leads down to the riverfront, ending in a peaceful grassy clearing perfect for reading or reflection. The path is fairly steep and may not be suitable for small children or guests with mobility limitations—please use caution and proper footwear.

🛶 Water Recreation • For those eager to get on the water, Deer Rapids Bridge (just a 3-minute drive or 10–15 minute walk) offers public river access for kayaking and canoeing. Swimming or launching directly from the property is not advised due to safety and terrain.

🏡 Property Care & Updates • We regularly enhance the home for comfort and style. Furniture or décor may differ slightly from listing photos, but quality and atmosphere remain consistent. During your stay, our landscaping or hot tub maintenance team may visit the exterior areas as needed—these brief visits do not require interior access.

Noise & Music — County and community regulations prohibit outdoor music after 9 PM, regardless of volume. Please be respectful of neighbors at all times and keep outdoor noise and activity to a reasonable level.

Extra Guests — Only registered guests are permitted on the property unless approved in advance. Unauthorized visitors or events are not allowed.

Smoking — Smoking or vaping is strictly prohibited anywhere on the property, indoors or outdoors. Evidence of smoking (including odor) will result in a $500 cleaning fee.

Fires & Prohibited Activities — Wood-burning fires are not permitted indoors. Please use the designated fireplace for outdoor fires. Fireworks, ATVs, firearms, and hunting are not allowed on the property.

Smart Home Technology — The cabin is equipped with WiFi, Ring exterior security cameras, and a Minut noise monitor for comfort and security. These devices do not record audio and may not be unplugged, covered, or tampered with. Interference with safety devices may result in cancellation of your stay.

Parking & Vehicles — Parking is limited to the designated driveway only. Please do not park on grass or block the road. Trailers or oversized vehicles require prior approval.
