Ennen kuin astut 1830-luvun ovelle osoitteessa 11 Water Street Douglasissa, olet edessä kuistilla ja voit rokkaa yhdellä keinutuolista ja katsella naapurustoa. Kun syötät, olet tämän uuden, ylellisen, 3500 neliön jalkaisen kodin korkealla ruokasalissa, jossa on antiikkinen ruokapöytä, jossa on 8 paikkaa. Bayou-talo voitti kulttuuriperinnön säilyttämispalkinnon vuonna 2006.

Kolme Bakerin davenporttia viereisessä olohuoneessa ovat vettä ja suuri kaasulämmitteinen takka; ne avautuvat ranskalaisten ovien kautta turvatarkastuskuistilla, josta on näkymät veteen ja viereiseen puistoon. Tämä johtaa suurelle kannelle, jolla on kaasugrilli keittiön ulkopuolelta, myös näkymä vedelle. Yläkerran keittiössä on viehättävä kaikki lasinruokailutilat, graniittitiskit, ruostumattomat laitteet ja baari.

Tällä tasolla on kolme makuuhuonetta ja kolme kylpyhuonetta, joista kahdessa king-size-vuoteet ja toisessa kaksi kuningatara. Vain makuuhuone queen-size-vuoteilla ei ole veteen päin. Kaikista muista huoneista ja huoneista on upea näköala.

Alakerrassa on 10 jalkakattoa ja kaikki makuuhuoneita lukuun ottamatta näkymät rannalle. Sinun tulee toinen keittiö suuressa lasitilassa, jossa on biljardipöytä. Tämän huoneen vieressä on iso alakerran olohuone, jossa on toinen TV-alue, iso poikkipinta ja toinen kaasulämmitteinen takka. Tämä talo on suunniteltu ajatuksella suuresta perheestä, suuresta perheestä, kahdesta perheestä tai yritysryhmistä. Tällä tasolla löydät tietokoneen, jossa on nopea Internet.

Alakerran keittiössä on myös kaksiovinen jääkaappi, Bosch-astianpesukone, kaasuliesi, puristin ja jakkarat neljälle graniittiskillä.

Yläkerrassa on iso kannella kaasugrilli, alakerrassa terassit, keinut, huonekalut ja hiiligrilli.

Bayou-talo on ihanteellinen perheille, yritysryhmille ja yhdistymisille, mutta ei sovi hääihin tai tapahtumiin, koska olemme keskustassa.

Alemmalla tasolla on kaksi makuuhuonetta ja kaksi kylpyhuonetta, toisessa parisänky ja toisessa kaksi erillistä vuodetta.

Rantatiellä on tilaa useille matalille vetoveneille ja telakalla on viisi kajakkia, soutuvene ja kaksi meloa. Lähellä rantaa on takka ja istuimet.

A fantastic experience beginning to end. The house is very clean, well stocked, and very comfortable. Everyone slept well in comfortable beds, and the kids enjoyed the stuffed bears that came in their twin beds! Truly a perfect location just a block from the business district and with a pier/dock for friends to boat over. Tons of room with two complete living areas and great outdoor space. The owners were very helpful and got a settled in nicely. I would highly recommend this home!!

The house was AMAZING with plenty of room for our whole family! It was clean, well stocked with eveything we needed, from beach chairs and towels to grills and kitchen supplies to cook! The kyacks were a hit as well as the fire pit for smores! Douglas is such a charming town. We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation in Michigan.

I don't generally submit reviews about the properties that I rent, but this rental was exceptional! Everyone in our group marveled at the space and ambience of this house. We especially appreciated all the small touches that made us more comfortable during our stay: food and wine for us to enjoy, extra toilet paper and kleenex so we wouldn't run out, the variety of gathering places in the house suitable for a large group. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bayou House and heartily recommend it to others!

Immaculate Home & Perfect Location

This property was perfect for our Labor Day weekend with friends. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a short bike ride (supplied) to the party town of Sagatuck. The owners thought of everything a group would need as the home was fully stocked! Between the kayaks, for outs, ping pong and pool tables, and bikes we were never at a loss for entertainment. A must stay if looking to stay in this area!!

Thanksgiving gathering

Our family gathered here for Thanksgiving and it could not have been more perfect. The house is so much more than the description can cover in the VRBO listing because of the wonderful hospitality of the owner. First of all, the house is a gorgeous gem, beautifully decorated and comfortable. It is huge, as is the yard leading down to the lake. The house was stocked with anything you might need, from silverware and dishes, cooking utensils, pans, casserole dishes, paper goods, small appliances, etc. There were lovely shampoos and soaps in the bathrooms, and all kinds of entertainment options including games, a pool table, fire pit, bikes, etc. I honestly can't imagine a better place to have spent this fun time together. So happy we chose this home!

Superb location and amenities

It's really hard to find an up-to-date property that offers an in-town experience (steps from shops/restaurants), on the water (with kayaks to use!), near good side streets (for running and walking), and just a short trek to the beach (for sunsets) and Saugatuck (for shopping). Bayou House has it all. We used the extra bikes. It was very relaxing to enjoy dinners on the deck. The screened in porch is a must to avoid mosquitoes. Joyce was very easy to work with and even helped us swap weeks with another family. We appreciated the CSA basket and welcome goodies, too. The house is in great condition and has all the extras you need when it comes to kitchenware, linens and outdoor seating. It's really set up like a two-family upstairs/downstairs house. We had 10 people and didn't use the downstairs except for sleeping and an extra fridge. The water level was pretty low in 2013. We quickly learned to avoid the shallow spots and had no problems getting in/out of the dock.

Overall everything was great. Not setup for guests with limited mobility as more stairs then we realized and bathrooms difficult as tight quarters.Kitchen setup, utensils dinnerware/pans very good. Loved the screened in outdoor patio.

Absolutely Wonderful Family Vacation

From our very warm welcome (with local delicacies, wine and even flowers) to a beautifully furnished home and spectacular water view - this was a wonderful 3 generations vacation. The town of Douglas is charming and we all enjoyed the many activities in the area, along with the paddle boarding and kayaking. We biked all over - so great! I totally recommend this beautiful house.

A great house!

This house was the best vacation home! It is the most well appointed and well stocked home that we’ve ever rented. The location on the waterfront is perfect! It’s also located so close to downtown Douglas that we could walk to any shop or restaurant. We also walked and biked to Saugatuck. We loved our stay and hope to return next year!

Yearly Lifetime Friend Trip

We are a group of 8 lifetime friends that take a yearly trip together. We arrived and were greeted with music/lights on, and hostess treats-creating a lovely atmosphere after our travels. The house was pristine clean, wonderfully decorated, and supplied with anything we needed, including upgraded linens and bathroom toiletries. There were two kitchens fully stocked with any item you would need. The house accommodated many gathering areas for 8 people both inside and outside-living room & family room, 2 fire pits areas/screened in porch/upper deck & lower patios.The beds were very comfortable too. There were clear check-in/checkout directions and throughout the house-just be aware that the upper kitchen has an induction stovetop. The location is an easy walk to downtown while being very private. We would highly recommend this property and will stay here again.Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A perfect weekend retreat!

Our weekend stay was absolutely wonderful. The property was represented perfectly in the listing. The house was very well equipped, and every detail was fabulous. Wonderful House for Girls Weekend

This was the best Vrbo home that I have stayed in. It was a wonderful house for a get together for seven friends. The furnishings are lovely and the upstairs living room was a cozy place to gather. The hosts generously provided two bottles of wine, crackers, cheeses and several spreads. The beds were all very comfortable. We did alert the hosts to an issue with the house, and they corrected the problem immediately. Unfortunately, the weather turned colder the weekend we were there, and we did not make use of the backyard and all the paddle equipment. Maybe next time!

Perfect house

Our adult family convened for a relaxing week at the lake. Marta and her home were perfect. Great location, easy to walk to Douglas restaurants and Saugatuk was a nice walk or very quick drive. The house was extremely comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. It got top reviews from the kids up to the grandmother. The kitchen(s), bathrooms, and bedrooms had everything needed. The mattresses were comfortable, which is rare in a rental. The pool and ping pong tables got plenty of usage as well as the kayaks and rowboat. It's also a very short walk to several good restaurants in Douglas. As with any property in Michigan, the mosquitoes come out at night, but there is plenty of space inside and a comfortable screened porch.

I have been in business in Saugatuck/Douglas since 1973 when I first opened my art gallery - it is still just up the street. It now includes a wine tasting and is operated by my daughter-in-law. I grew up in Chicago, lived in Michigan cities, moved to Cincinnati, and finally moved back to the big Lake. We have had property on the lake since the 60's and were pleased to add Bayou House to our business. All the art in the house is from my gallery. And, it was a necessity that Bayou House had to be on water!

April 28, 2017 - Just added - 3 more kayaks and 2 more paddle boards. The benefit of this house is that you can use boats on the lake, 5 kayaks, row boat and 2 paddle boards, and still have the advantage of the beach at the Oval. There are no places to stay at the Oval so everyone comes from some part of the community. There are well over 200 acres of dunes to explore as well as the wonderful beach. And you can return to watch the birds, the boats, and have a fire in the fire pit.
