Perinteinen koti vesiputousalueella - nyt aurinkovoimainen!

E komo mai (tervetuloa!) tähän perinteiseen 1940-luvun havaijilaiseen kotiin Hilossa, Havaijen saaren kulttuurikeskuksessa. Täällä perheesi tai ryhmäsi voi ripustaa löysästi ja absorboida alohan hengen (elämän iloinen jakaminen) tutkiessamme saaren trooppista puolta, mukaan lukien Hamakuan rannikko ja Volcano National Park. Talo sijaitsee vain muutaman minuutin päässä kuuluisista kohteista, kuten Rainbow Falls, Pe'epe'e Falls, Boiling Pots koski ja Kaumana Cave (sukupuuttoon sammunut laavaputki).

Ulkopuolella laaja lanai on loma itselleen näkymistä Hiloon itään ja Mauna Keaan, joka kurkistaa viidakon puiden yläpuolella länteen. Talo sijaitsee kauniilla palmujen reunuksella puolikkaalla hehtaarilla, jota ovat asuttaneet gekot, mongoosit, mynah linnut ja muut. Anna puiden sammakkolaulu lähettää sinut nukkumaan, ja kukkat vievät sinut uuteen jännittävään päivään. Nauti havaijilaisten ruokien valmistuksesta Hilon kuuluisilta ulkomarkkinoilta tilavassa keittiössä, kun taas keiki (lapsesi) leikkivät lanaiilla, pingispongilla alakerrassa tai tutustua viidakon pihalle.

Sisällä pääasiallinen asuintila on toisessa kerroksessa, kutsuen lempeät kaupalliset tuulet virtaamaan kaikkialle. Neljä makuuhuonetta ja kaksi täyttä kylpyammetta, keittiö ja tilava olohuone tarjoavat majoitusta jopa 10 hengelle. Talo on varustettu liinavaatteilla ja rantapyyhkeillä sekä peleillä ja Havaijin aiheita koskevilla kirjoilla (mukaan lukien matka-, lasten-, romaani- ja paikalliset keittokirjat) nautinnoksesi. Alakerrassa on valtava rumpushuone, jossa on pingispöytä ja havaijilainen kivi-mosaiikkilattia, joka on alkuperäinen taloon. Alakerrassa on lisäksi puoli kylpyamme, pesulapalvelut ja ulkosuihku rannan jälkeen huuhteluun. Odota käyntejä Havaijilla kaikkialla ystävällisiltä vihreiltä gekoilta.

Tämä ominaisuus sijaitsee kätevästi vain 3 mailin päässä Hilon keskustan museoista ja ravintoloista ja 4–5 mailin päässä Hilon lentokentältä ja parhaalta snorklauksesta Richardsonin rannalla. Huomaamatta jäävä matka on Mauna Kean vierailukeskuksessa yöllä tähtitaivaan torjunnassa (ilmainen, avoinna klo 22.00 iltaisin), vain 30 mailin päässä. Se on myös helppo 25 mailin ajomatka kätevälle päiväretkelle Volcanon kansallispuistoon. Ota toisena päivänä ajomatka rauhassa pohjoiseen Hamakuan rannikolla käydäksesi hämmästyttävässä Hawaiin trooppisessa kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa (9 mailia) tai historiallisissa sokeriteollisuuskaupungeissa Honomussa (13 mailia) ja Honokaassa (43 mailia). Mene Saddle Roadiin saaren keskustan yli 75 mailin päästäksesi Konan lentokentälle ja rannoille sen ulkopuolelle.

Fun and funky Hilo house

Family vacation

We were exploring big island with our family (4 adults and 3 kids) and enjoyed the stay. The lawn, table tennis and patio were very much enjoyed by our kids.

Beautiful house and yard

We had a fantastic time staying here. Both the house and the yard are beautiful. My young boys loved playing ping pong and hanging out in the treehouse. They also loved finding fruit, frogs, and geckos in the yard. Wonderful property.

Great House 5 Minutes from Central Hilo

House was exactly as advertised. Easy to get into, plenty of space in the house, well located. Property manager was helpful and responsive. If you're going to stay in the Hilo area, this is a great house for a family.

spacious house for our family of 7

The house was very bright with lots of space, the deck was great to relax, read and it had a big table for us to have dinner after a day at Volcano NP. It was easy to get to downtown for restaurants, to Rainbow Falls and Kaumana Caves. Ashley was very helpful with any questions we had about the area as well.

Absolutely wonderful!

This house was an amazing place to stay. It was just outside of town but still close enough for a quick drive in. It was close to a lot of sightseeing places. The house was huge and had everything we needed. There was always a nice breeze going through the house and kept it cool during the day. It was really nice to fall asleep to the sounds of the coqui frogs at night. We hope to stay here again when we come back to Hilo. Thanks Steve!

Large wonderful home

A fantastic home. Large and spacious, clean, great kitchen for cooking and gathering. There was an abundance of cooking equipment, utensils and dishes. The beds were comfortable, great linen and towels. It was a very peaceful stay. There are lots of outdoor spaces, and a treehouse and ping pong table. Super fast and stable WIFI. Great washer and dryer. Fast and responsive communication.

This was a typical traditional Hilo home. It reminded me of my grandparent's house. It was very clean and had an ample supply of towels and blankets (it can get cold). The property was close to the center of town (5 minutes) but tucked away in the cool, foresty hillside. The grounds were lovely and the tangerines from the tree were juicy and sweet. We used this as a hub for our fishing and golfing activities and ate out most of the time. We bought poke and spent a nice lunch time on the deck. It was a perfect getaway from Honolulu.

Wow this place is big!

A house that's about twice as large as advertised, but in reality you'll mostly be using the main level, which has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It;s quite nice, cooled by fans, and tons of space. On a very quiet street about 10 minutes drive from downtown. You will absolutely need a car, as Hilo's restaurants are a couple of miles away and it's very hilly.

Great location for 7, not for 10 adults

Nice and quite location; nice house. We were 2 families of ten of adults and teenagers. The announcement is not clear on the true number of places as there are a only 7 places. Two of us slept on a not confortable air matress and 1 on a thin futon in the living room.

Old but cozy

Another adult coach/chaperone and I stayed here with our youth basketball team. It was very spacious and accommodating to our entire group. The kitchen is large but needs some updated cookware. Downstairs has a ping pong table and is a good place for the kids to hangout. It is a large, older home so there are some minor repairs needed throughout the home but overall it was functional. The property manager was very prompt in responding to our questions and needs. We would definitely consider renting this home in the future.

Beautiful property with rainforest feel

I thought the house was adorable. Bigger than i expected. Super cute treehouse. Tons of games, Towels, linens. Washer was huge which was a plus. I was very apprehensive because there was no ac but the breeze was plenty at night. The frogs annoyed my boyfriend at night but i thought they were peaceful. Would definitely recommend.

Hilo House

This large house is old but very well kept. Our 2 girls (8 & 11) had a fun time wandering around and playing ping pong in the basement. It did get a bit chilly during our stay as it was windy during our stay and the windows don't seal up all that great. I don't think it would be a problem during normal weather conditions.

Home away from home

We stayed at this large and well equipped home for four days in Hilo.We enjoyed how much space indoors and outdoors this property provided us. The tree house was cool except it looked like it was under the process of renovation. It rained all day and night while we were there so it kept the house with cool air flowing. The outdoor shower was a nice touch! The only thing that was missing was a dvd player so we could have rented a red box and watch a movie. This home is so close to all the shops, downtown Hilo, attractions, and airport. We will stay here again if we come back to Hilo. You will love this home as much as we did!

A perfect time in paradise!

Our family of 7 had a marvelous time at this clean and spacious home! The kitchen is a gem. Well appointed and large. Great for those who like to cook at home. We used the big dining table on the deck. Since that area is covered, there was no concern about rain. The deck has a view of forested hills and a peek at the ocean. The tall red and green palms make the deck all the more like a private paradise. Charming green Madagascar Gold Dust Day geckos that live in the palms were delightful neighbors. The neighborhood is quiet. Driveway accommodated our rental minivan and sedan. There are two pleasant bathrooms upstairs. The three bedrooms with queen beds all share a bath on the hallway. The other bath is attached to the smaller bedroom with the single bed. That worked out fine for us; everyone was able to negotiate their showers and nighttime routines.

Spacious house with good beds

3 week trip with 4 different accommodations. So, I had the chance to compare. The house is spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable and we enjoyed the experience of living in a typical Hawaiian neighborhood and home. We loved the balcony and the spacious kitchen. Although the house is not air conditioned, there is always a breeze and we did not suffer from the heat. To have visited 3 other houses, I would like to make you the suggestion to be a little more generous with the articles of toilets, of households and the objects of beaches. For a stay of 6 nights 4 people, we would appreciate having more than bottoms of bottles (soap, dish soap, ...). In the other accommodations, we also enjoy having body boards and a large cooler. That said, thanks to Steve and Ashley for their welcome and their quick responses to my emails. I recommend this house for a beautiful Hawaiian vacation.

Nostalgic Hilo House

It was a hot day in Hilo, the code we were given was not correct to the key box. They added a combination box to the door which was convenient. We were able to get a hold of the manager immediately, and she responded quickly with our other needs. The window's were open and we put every ceiling fan and floor fan on when we checked in. It finally cooled down once the sun went down. The house could use a couple more fans for the very hot summer days. I recommend having ear plug's if your use to sleeping in silence because the coqui frogs in Hawaii are loud at night. The clothes dryer takes forever to dry but other than that we loved the house. It was very well kept and clean! It reminded us of our grandparents house on Punahele St. We came home for our Ohana reunion. We felt right at home! The house is located near beautiful rainbow falls and 10 min. above down town Hilo, good location. Mahalo for sharing your home!

House was beautiful, spacious and well stocked with everything you need to your stay, including beach chairs and boogie boards (we did not need them this trip but was nice to have available). It is an older home but is well cared for with some updates. We had a very lovely, comfortable stay.

Awesome place to stay in hilo!

Everything about this home is five star. It is comfortable, beautifully decorated and equipped with anything we could possibly need. The lanai is the perfect place to have your morning coffee while enjoying the views. The downstairs game room/workout area was wonderful. The yard was perfect for the kids to play in. It is enclosed (except for the entrance of the driveway) and the kids are safe to play and run. We are truly thankful for a place we could bring our family, be in Hawaii and really enjoy the things the island has to offer that you miss staying at a hotel. Book this home, I promise you will be thankful you did!!

This 1940s house is perfect if you want to avoid the tourist crowds, soak up the laid back "Old Hawai'i" lifestyle, meet island creatures up close and personal, and explore the windward side of Hawaii Island and Volcanoes National Park. This property is NOT for visitors who (1) prefer a hotel "wakeup" call to roosters crowing or (2) prefer mainland-style amenities like frigid A/C instead of ceiling fans and soft trade wind breezes; or (3) mind seeing other island residents like a gecko clinging to a window screen or scooting across the floor.
