We love Leadville. It's such a great town - it's so honest about itself, but as a result, accommodations can be hit or miss. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Governor's Mansion. It has a great location for walking to main street, it's quite spacious, and it's atmosphere fits Leadville perfectly. The mattresses are all memory foam / "Purple" style, and quite firm, which aren't our favorites but should hold up well for a rental property and were fine once settled in. The living room and pool table were great for evenings of struggling to stay awake after high-altitude adventures in the surrounding mountains. The fenced in front yard is also great for a morning or evening cup of something warm or cheery while idly tossing a ball for the pupper.
Downsides - and these are all minor nits, nothing major - it's a bit rough around the edges - just like Leadville. The kitchen lighting was poor and the kitchen could do with a few more cooking utensils; the window coverings were a bit...rustic; and it could do with some better sound isolation between the two main units, primarily at the door between them at the front entry way; and it needed maybe some details like a bathroom shelf/table for toiletries in the master bedroom on the 2nd floor and a few updated bath fixtures that were showing some wear, but work fine. None of these distracted from our enjoyment of a unique home in the last high altitude wild west town on earth. It will be on our list when we return!
