Tervetuloa "tarkoitus olla, meidän Hiekkalinna by the Sea
                      Missä se kaikki auringosta posket ja hiekkaa jalat!
Olemme sijaitsee 8 kilometrin ylös rannalle lopusta valtatie 12 ja hakea 4WD vain. Tämän alueen ainutlaatuisuuden vuoksi suosittelemme, että otat yhteyttä kodin omistajiin ennen varauksen tekemistä. Relaxing

Had a wonderful stay, house was roomy and plenty of privacy . Great views, saw wild horses everyday. Very pet friendly. Owners were great to work with hope to stay again !!!!!!

Very Far North

We had a blast at the house, which was well furnished to handle the family of 6 adults and 2 kids. Being 30 minutes north of Corolla was a factor we did not take seriously enough, coupled with a little hurricane that threw some weather our way to make travel more treacherous. All in a a great stay!

We had an amazing trip to Carova Beach. Meant To Be was the perfect place for our families to come together for a relaxing week at the beach. Melissa went over and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and also gave us great ideas to explore during the week. We will absolutely be back!!

Great stay

Short walk to beach. Very comfortable house. All the amenities needed. Plenty of room and entertainment in the house. Drove here in an AWD Subaru Forrester without difficulty. Stayed here in October, pool was closed. Great time overall, would stay here again.

Great property, great trip

We really enjoyed staying at meant to be- it’s a great house in good spot. The pool and pool deck were a lot of fun and there are tons of little nooks around the house to read or socialize. We were two families with 5 little kids (plus an Au pair) and the sleeping arrangements were perfect. All of the equipment in the House was generally clean and in good working order. The owners were highly responsive and straight forward in all of their communications. The wildlife was terrific with horses coming to graze regularly, lots of frogs, and other sights and sounds.

Glad it was Meant to Be

Everything was found as described and even better. The horses were around the house every day that we were there. Pool and hot tub were refreshing on the days we couldn't get into the ocean due to wind. Kitchen is well stocked and house is well equipped for all your needs. I suggest leaving the heavy items on bottom floor til you need them in main kitchen,,, the stairs are a killer at middle age. (lol).

Fantastic!

We have stayed at MTB so many times over the years that we've lost count. The last was during Thanksgiving 2011. It has everything you need including two dishwashers, two refrigerators, and two microwaves (comes in handy during Thanksgiving!). Our family and friends drive up to 6 hours to meet us at this wonderful vacation destination. It's thrilling to drive up the beach and get away from it all. The views, pool, hot tub, and daily visits from the horses make this a dream home. We consider this our own private beach house even though Melissa and Bill are the owners. They are terrific people to work with and even though we've never met in person, we consider them friends. You can't go wrong with renting this home. We can't wait until we return again!

Our Family Vacation

We have been vacationing in the 4X4 section for 10 years. This year we chose,"Meant to Be" for our Family vacation home. This home is in our favorite area of Carova Beach. A choice that our entire Family agrees was our best so far. Everything was beyond our expectations inside and out. Our entire Family had an extremely great time in the oversized pool, day and night. The home is set up for full speed ahead, or kick back in the hammock to relax and read a book. From the furnishings in the home to the outdoor furniture Melissa and Bill have did an excellent job. Melissa is the most personable and nicest person I have had the pleasure of renting a vacation home from. Her kindness and the concern she has for her renters does not go unnoticed. We have scheduled again for next year.

Beautiful Adventure

This was our first trip to the outer banks...certainly not our last! Once the paved road ended a new world opened up. The drive on the beach was amazing in itself, but once we arrived at Meant to Be we knew the week would only get better. It is beautifully decorated and well kept. There was plenty of room for our group of 10 plus our puggle! The many decks all offered breathtaking views and the wild horses were just beautiful. We collected lots of seashells, walked countless walks along the shore, and enjoyed the canoe in the canals. There was every amenity (and appliance) one could possibly need in the beautiful home as well. The pool was amazing as well! The kids (7 of them 11-21) all had a blast as well! Melissa and Bill were incredibly helpful and responsive to our questions before our trip and even checked in with us once we arrived. It was an amazing adventure that we look forward to again!!!

A very special place

Our group stayed at this lovely home in early June, and included 6 adults and 2 children (ages 3 and 6). While we did bring our own beach chairs, toys, etc, we soon found we hadn't needed to, since the owners have pretty much everythng one would need for a great beach day - they really do think of everything! The house is decorated beautifully and has lots of great amenities. The kitchen, especially, is very well stocked - one of our crew is a chef, and he had everything he could have needed to make wonderful meals every evening. Finally, the views...the views! From the multi-level decks to the living room and the Ships Watch one can get a great view of the dunes and ocean. Beach is definitely within walking distance (we did every day). Horses everywhere, too - we saw them many times every day. Driving on the beach is an adventure and really fun! We barely left the house, since there was so much to do right here! Stay here - you'll love it!

Awesome Family Vacation!

This house is very nice and in a beautiful location. This was our first time on the 4x4 beach and we loved it! The layout of the house is great; bedrooms are a nice size and there was good seating in the living areas. There were some cleanliness issues with dog hair from the previous renters who didn't follow the rules, but communication with the owner about that was outstanding. Owners were very helpful when we realized we forgot something - UPS doesn't deliver on the sand!! We used the pool every day; can't comment about the hot tub, because we never got in it. We had 12 people and never ran out of hot water for showers which can be an issue sometimes. Plenty of games there and the outdoor decks were great in the morning and the evening. Horses came to visit a couple of times - the kids were delighted! My only suggestion would be to include an ice maker in the kitchen instead of the second dishwasher when you are ready to upgrade. Keeping enough ice on hand for coolers to take to the beach was difficult since freezer spacer was limited. All in all a great family vacation!

Total Luxury, Peace & Relaxation

"Meant To Be" really sums up our vacation. The home is beautiful, clean & came with all the amenities we could have ever asked for & more. The owners were extremely accommodating & very nice to work with. The view from the Ship's Watch was absolutely gorgeous as we could see the ocean through the dunes. We were greeted by the horses in the morning outside of the house which was a nice surprise. We also captured many pictures of the horses roaming on the beach while picking up hundreds of sea shells. We also loved that there was plenty to do at the house during the rainy times; plenty of dvd's, board games, books and best of all, a pool table & card table. The outside pool & hot tub are really nice, but unfortunately due to our early season vacation, we could not swim. The other thing we loved was that we were able to bring our 2 dogs. Not many rental homes allow that. In addition, there were dog bowls, shampoo and towels already there for us. We also appreciated their suggestions of places to visit while we were in OBX. We would have never known about them otherwise. We could not have had a nicer vacation thanks to Melissa & Bill. We can't wait to return to "MeantToBe." Oh, one other note: they were extremely fast in returning our deposit.!

Wonderful property.

Driving 9 miles on the beach to the house was the only downfall. The house was extremely clean and very comfortable. We seen horses every single day. We did encounter some not so friendly locals who told us “locals know locals, we do not want or need tourists here” this is no way drops my rating of this house and the hosts. Excellent communication and extremely helpful. Some locals were friendly. Some were not. We walked to the fire department and bought our souvenirs was great to be able to support them and not a big chain store. I walked a short ways and picked blackberries for the kids. We sat on the upper deck for the most part of our stay and just enjoyed the view and the breeze. The teens enjoyed the downstairs and pool. The little ones loved having a room but would liked to have had a TV for them to wind down in the evenings. Also there was no TV in the room with a shared bath but we made due. We love to watch TV before bed. My entire family does. WiFi wouldn’t pick up for the teens in the bottom floor/game room so they had to use my hot spot on my phone. It was definitely a slow relaxing vacation. If you want to go and just enjoy your family this is the place for you. If you want to explore, shop, and be on the go then I would suggest looking elsewhere.

There is nothing about this house or our stay that I would change, not one complaint! We felt right at home! It was very hard to leave! Im considering inquiring about a 2 week stay in the future instead of 1 week!

Relaxing getaway!

This was our first time on the 4x4 beaches and we had a great time. We saw wild horses every day (even had one take cover from the rain in the carport) and loved the pool and jacuzzi! The dogs appreciated the provided blankets and towels! We enjoyed fishing on the beach and kayaking in the canals. Thanks for a great stay!!

I cannot say enough about how incredible this home is. Melissa has thought of everything. Seriously. Plus, beautiful deck views, awesome pool area, horses daily. Best beach experience ever. We. Will. Be. Back!

Great experience

NIce location walking distance to the beach. Also really enjoyed the pool area. Saw horses everyday. Owner was very responsive to any concerns.

We made so many memories at Meant To Be! Not only was the home clean and ready for us to arrive, but as well we loved the surrounding area and having the beach so close to us! Driving in the sand was a bit tricky, but staying in Carova for the week definitely made up for it! Thank you so much

Bill, myself and our children began vacationing on Carova Beach in 1998. It only took 1 vacation to fall in love. Two years later we purchased a lot and 2 years after that we designed and had our home built. Spending time with family and friends while here at our home on Carova is one of our greatest blessings. This is our one and only rental home. It has been a labor of love. Labor and Love being equal. We had never imagined doing anything like this which is why we say it was "Meant To Be".

Nothing had ever felt so right, so we closed our eyes and purchased a lot after a couple years of vacationing on Carova and the rest was .....Meant To Be! We are blessed to have the opportunity to share our home with others the way someone once opened their door and allowed us to be a guest at their beautiful beach house.
