Wonderful time...

The house was perfect for our group. Kitchen well equipped. Loved sitting on back deck...very quiet and relaxing. We rented a golf cart which help greatly with getting everyone and our gear to the beach. Owners were easy to work with before and during our trip.

First family reunion and first time in Surf City

Our family has been renting homes in North Carolina for over 30 years for our reunions. This year, the family rented 6 homes including this one.Pros: view of the sound and sunsets, 2 kayaks, community dock, parking for 5 vehicles if needed, secluded from main road and other housing. The beaches are a few blocks away with parking available. Close to shops and restaurants.Cons: Poor housekeeping service as we found numerous alcohol containers in the top floor bedroom, dust, hair, used covid test and a dead bug. An inner door knob fell off, a blade is missing from a deck ceiling fan, no water pressure in the outside shower, lack of space to unpack clothes to, no door hooks, some appliances could use an upgrade, the garbage disposal with sink drain issues occurred end of the week. The combination for the side door entrance stopped working and we had to use the carport entrance.recommend if any issues arise, to document with photos and report issues to the owner via the VRBO app only. Do not leave anything in the refrigerator on departure, Even though we loved the location and view and tolerated the "cons" listed above, our family will not be staying here again.

Beautiful location

We had a great time on our vacation. The house was located in a quiet neighborhood just a short, easy walk from the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful view of the sound from the back of the house and even saw dolphins a couple of times. We would definitely stay here again. The owner, Kristen, was readily available to answer questions and help when needed.

Beach trip

Overall the house was clean. The views from the porches were amazing. I wish they had offered beach chairs as many of the houses we have stayed in before do. Beautiful house. Kitchen had everything we needed. I would definitely rent again. Great place!

Beautiful house and location

We loved our stay here at this house. The back deck views are breath taking. The mornings were the perfect time to sit on the back decks, drink coffee and take in all the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The house it's self was spacious and very well decorated. We had 10 of us total (5 couples) and we had the perfect amount of space. My husband and I love to go kayaking and would love to come back now that we have seen this property is perfect for it.

Beautiful home with amazing views

To start off the sunset views from the house were amazing!!!! Every sunset was better than the last. Everything about this house amazing! The owners are quick to respond to any questions- better than any realty company I’ve used before. The house is well equipped and very roomy for 12 people. The house is tastefully decorated both inside and outside with very comfy sectionals. The location of the house is perfect. Close enough to shops and the bridge for easy access but in a quiet neighborhood off one of the main streets of Topsail Island. Kids loved riding bikes to ice cream shop and stores. I’ve rented many homes on Topsail and this is one house I would rent again!! Thank you a wonderful week!!!!

Family Beach Week

It was really nice to have 5 bedrooms with private balconies . The kitchen was small however stocked well with pots, pans, glassware etc… the house is located close to the beach however, the main roadway was super busy and we usually loaded all the beach stuff up in a truck and dropped it off at the public beach access parking area (14) where the family could carry it to the beach. Bonus ….. there is a free public parking lot across the street from a Catholic Church ( one block from the beach)… we parked there everyday while at the beach. We spent a lot of time at the beach, the water was very blue. During high tide the width of the beach shrunk, we learned to set up our beach tent right beside the sand dunes. The family loved the house, we had a minor issue with the fridge on day 1. The owner went and bought coolers /ice for our food and drink. The fridge simply needed to be unplugged and it re set and worked fine .. We would definitely stay here again.

Anchor Drive Stay

The property itself is very spacious: It definitely slept all of us comfortably with our own rooms. It’s 3 levels with a lot of stairs. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have any mobility issues. The views of the sound are amazing and each room has their own balcony for views. The AC worked well and kept the place cool at all times. The walk to the beach wasn’t bad at all if you didn’t have to carry much. A bit too far to carry a cooler or anything heavy: It took us about 8 minutes to get to the first beach access. (2 streets over) The first road you have to cross is a bit busy and hard to cross at times. Traffic can be heavy especially in the evenings. We noticed that there wasn’t a lot of room on the beach at the Wilmington access. Further down towards the pier you seem to have more room to spread out. We liked that the house was in close proximity shops and a few eateries. My teenage girls walked down to Island Delights quite a bit for ice cream. A few negatives: We were made aware with a note that The freezer was broken when we arrived. It was frozen over. The ice maker and filtered water weren’t usable. A bit of a bummer for my husband and I because we constantly have our Yetis full of ice water. The repair man didn’t come until Wednesday of our stay. And didn’t fix the problem. Also during our stay the 2nd floor shower started to leak into one of the 1st floor bedrooms. Also, unable to be repaired during the stay so we weren’t able to utilize one of the showers. Communication was easy with the owners and they were very responsive and apologetic. They returned 250.00 to my account as a compensation for the inconvenience. The bedrooms do not have any dressers. The closets do not have anywhere to hang clothes. So, if you are like me and like to unpack your suitcase, this may be an issue for you. The closets are full of maintenance items such as paint, nails, ladders, etc. The laundry room is attached to the main downstairs bathroom. It’s nearly impossible to get the clothes into and out of the dryer due to the placement of the doors. Overall, this property worked fairly well for our large family for the week.

Family getaway

The size of this home is perfect for a large group or family. Our party of 9 had plenty of room to spread out. The location is what sold us, peaceful and beautiful views of the sound and a short walk to the beach. This is a no frills rental, bring your own linens etc but it worked well for our family getaway.

Amazing view - clean accommodating house

This house worked perfect for our family. It's close to the beach, and has the most amazing view of the sound. We were thankful to be sound side when the wind picks up and throws sand everywhere. We spent a lot of time on the back deck and had a front row panoramic view of the 4th of July fireworks. We brought our golf cart, which was nice to get around. The beds were also very comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only issues were that the grill was full of grease and unusable, the outdoor shower did not work, and the rooms lacked dresser drawers so everyone had to live out of their suitcase for a week. Drawers would have been great so we could unpack. I also feel like if they removed the door to the laundry room, it would make that area more accessible. Doors hit each other in a small space which was very awkward when trying to do laundry or use the nearby restroom. Those little improvements would make it better, but it wouldn't stop me from renting the house again. Thanks for a great vacation!

Family beach trip

We really enjoyed the view from the back of the house! Short walk to the beach. We brought a cart to bring all our beach items for 10 people, it made all the difference. We would totally stay here again.

Overall Rating is 4 Stars

Overall the house in Surf City NC was nice and accomadated 10 of us. The view of the Sound is beautiful. Would have liked to have been closer to the beach since we had younger children. If you are older, there are a lot of stairs. It would have been nice to know, ahead of time, that you have to pay for beach parking - $3 an hour or $20 a day. There are very few free parking places and, if you find one, you have a good walk to the beach with all your beach gear.

Great location, needs some TLC

My family and I had a great spring break vacation and the owners were easy to communicate with. Views of the sound and bridge are beautiful and the sunsets are breathtaking from the back deck. However, we were disappointed in the cleanliness of the home. The listing advertises that pets are not allowed, which we specifically seek out due to allergies, but the home was covered in short white dog hair. I received many messages through VRBO from the owner leading up to our stay, after we had completed all of our payments, about check in and bringing our own linens but somehow missed the one stating that they bring their own dogs when they come to the home. The house has been well used and could use some updating and a deep clean. Beds were decent once we took the plastic sheets off. Nice quiet location close to town and about 3 blocks from the beach.

Outlaw Family Vacay 2020

Overall, it was very nice. The view from back deck is beautiful. Very easy access to the beach and stores. There are lots of stairs to climb so keep that in mind. I found out just how out of shape I was. The only issue I had was lots of trash under the couch and I talked with the homeowner about it.

First Trip to NC beaches

The place was awesome!! Great space to move around for all of us that stayed in the house. Loved the NC beaches. Waves were awesome!!!! The view from the balcony's on the house was amazing. Would recommend this place to anyone

This deserves 5 stars for location and views...absolutely beautiful. Communication was also good, owners were very responsive. My only complaint was the cleanliness and maintenance that needed to be addressed at the property.

Great Location in Surf City

Easy to book and after booking the owners provided additional information about the area such as where to eat and how to get to the beach with ease. The house itself was ample size for our family and is in a quite neighborhood overlooking the sound and even has ocean views. The location is easy to get to and is not to far from the Surf City bridge. The beds were comfortable as well as the inside and outside furniture. It would have been nice to have more choices of outside furniture seating for the multiple decks but the main living area deck was fine. There were no problems with fans, televisions or electronics throughout our stay. I would recommend some sort of dresser for the master bedroom for clothes. I would say for any family that you need to be prepared for plenty of steps. Steps going into house and then going between floors. In addition, if you do decide to walk to the beach be careful crossing the first of three streets. You can go to the beach early and just drive and park at the public beach access. Overall I would recommend this place to enjoy a nice peaceful vacation!
