The pictures do not do this home justice. It is beautifully situated on the bluffs of Door County, but you have access to Green Bay through steps leading to the water. There is a dock and two decks facing the water from which beautiful sunsets can be seen. It was quiet, secluded, yet well situated on the peninsula. We had a lovely time and we definitely recommend the place, but we urge the management to iron out the kinks quickly.
The kinks:
a. Communication: The rental agreement sent after reserving conflicted with the terms on the VRBO website. The agreement stated that only a check was allowable method of payment, yet I was getting messages to pay by credit card through the VRBO email. I wrote a check, signed the agreement and sent it back. The property managers said it should have been credit card through the VRBO email. I was extremely nervous because this looked "fishy" especially after paying a down payment and having no cancellation option and no reviews at the time I rented. In the end, it was fine and they sent my uncashed check back. Suggestion: Please correct this in the rental agreement.
b. AC: We had great difficulty with the AC. We called three times to the Door County Properties which manages the place. We were told the same thing twice. We followed the directions, which did not work. We called a third time and they sent someone out who thoroughly checked out the AC and declared it working. It was much better than before (nonexistent to cooling but never at the temperature we set). Suggestion: Have explicit instructions for the AC/heating and other things in the notebook.
c. No coffee pot. Who has a vacation rental without a coffee pot? A quick call to Door County Properties, and they promptly brought out a coffee pot.
d. The kitchen was very sparingly stocked. We had to buy (and we left) a cork skewer. The pots and pans were minimal. Plan on bringing everything you need to cook: good knives, gadgets, kitchen towels (they had only one), spices beyond salt and pepper, any staples. There are plenty of plates, cups, glasses.
Overall, a fabulous property that once the management irons out the kinks will be worth every penny you spend on it.
