My wife and I got married in the area and needed a place to stay. She and her bridesmaids got ready there and had plenty of room to sprawl out! The deck is beautiful especially with the string lights on at night! Highly recommended!

Perfect lakeside getaway!

Perfect for a family getaway

Everything that we wanted was provided and the dock was a special bonus. We rented a pontoon boat from a nearby marina and did some fishing, ass well as pulling the grandkids around on a tube. The decor in the house was better than expected.

We enjoyed this VRBO very much - exactly as described. Clean, well furnished and communication with owner was great! We rented a boat for several days and enjoyed the lake. We utilized the grill, the fire pit, the dock, and the back porches throughout our stay. Looking forward to coming again.

Lake place retreat

We very much enjoyed our stay at lake place retreat. They had everything we needed indoor and outdoor for our vacation. The location and access to the lake was perfect for us! We loved being able to spend time inside and relax in the sunroom and great room, as well as, on the deck area. We needed more time to enjoy everything but it was great for our family! Wonderful place

This place is wonderful. Clean and accurate online description. The place had everything you could need for the dock & swimming, plenty of patio/chairs space, and the kitchen was well stocked with cookware, etc. Dock was nice and cove is in a low key area. Property manager was kind, easy to communicate with, and fast at responding.

Lake retreat fun

Our grandsons had a fabulous time fishing and swimming in the lake. The house was well maintained, clean and comfortable. We all agreed that this was a spot we would certainly consider returning to if the opportunity presented itself. The owners were terrific to work with. They responded quickly to any questions we had and were very nice. I would certainly recommend Lake Place Retreat!

Perfect

This was as great as it looked. Quiet deep water cove provided excellent swimming, fishing, and plenty of shade..never too hot to be outside. House is perfect and well stocked with all of the basic necessities. You really only need to bring food. This place is much better in person than what can be shown. Beth was always accessible and helped with every question. We have found our yearly go to vacation getaway!!!

It was a super relaxing weekend that allowed my family to enjoy each other.

Let me begin by saying my wife and I have stayed at many lake houses and this one by far was the best. It was super clean and decorated in such a way you felt like you were home. The space was great and of course the lake front and view of the lake were incredible. The owners were very easy to get a hold of and very quick to respond. Although we did not need anything due to everything being well explained prior to our arrival. The dock was great for the kids and I to swim from and have fun. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to relax and have some great family time. We loved the house and property!!

Lake Place Retreat is The Place to Enjoy Lake Hartwell

Our family has been renting homes on both Lake Hartwell and Lake Keowee for the last 10 years. Lake Place Retreat is our favorite of all! From the very first contact with Elizabeth to our last moment there - our stay at Lake Place Retreat was top notch! This home has all the special touches, including fresh flowers when we arrived. Lake Place Retreat has just about all the kitchen items you will need, including spices, and all the comforts of a lake home you can think of to enjoy - no need to bring beach towels, throw blankets, water toys, games, books - it's all there. Our family particularly enjoyed the abundant water "toys" available including paddleboards, floats, noodles, fishing rod, tow rope, etc. If you need it, they have it! The home itself is so welcoming - think cabin retreat but with great natural light and warm shiplap and great gathering spaces, including large dining table/room with its own deck - no dark, damp cabin here! The wrap-around deck is huge and comfortable - and virtually no bugs due to the bug-zapper kept on at all times. The descent to the dock is a gentle slope - easy to walk up and back from dock to the house. The dock is amply sized and allows for your boat to be in a covered slip. As a bonus there is some good bass fishing off the dock, too - the Bass prefer worms not lures, BTW. There is other wildlife to enjoy as well - we saw baby hawks taking some of their first flights, several osprey, a fawn, and an eagle in the cove when we were paddleboarding. I, almost, thought twice about giving this good of review...now everyone will want to rent Lake Place Retreat! Thanks for a great stay, Elizabeth.

Lovely Setting

This is our 4th year vacationing at Lake Hartwell. We regretted not bringing our kayaks because this would have been the best setup to bring them. The trip down to the water was not as long and steep as the previous places we stayed. They did have two paddle boards available at the dock that were fun to try. The pull down steps made it easy to get on the paddle boards and to swim. The house was well stocked and all the thoughtful extras really made a difference! I think our favorite thing was to have morning coffee on the deck with a beautiful view of the lake. It was a lovely setting for a great vacation with family and friends.

This was one of our favorite properties. Everything was clean and in working order. Comfortable inside and lots of outdoor spaces. Having a dock for swimming and the stand up paddle boards kept the kids busy. The kitchen had everything we needed. The property wasn't too far from restaurants that we enjoyed for dinner.

Beautifully Relaxing

Our family stayed 8 nights. The house is comfortable, well cared for and had everything we needed. The kitchen is stocked with most of the gadgets/tools you’d need for typical cooking. The grill was easy and had all the utensils. The neighborhood/ surroundings are so quiet and peaceful. It was an amazing get away.

Lake Place Retreat is owned by Helen Chambless and managed by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Keith Ward. Helen lives in NC and enjoys gardening and visiting her grandchildren. Keith and Elizabeth live and work in Atlanta. Their oldest son, an Auburn grad, and the youngest son, a recent UGA grad, love the water and all things outdoors. (We clearly need a new picture!) Having a place on the lake was a dream of ours for years, and we are pleased to share it with you. Helen is a native of SC, and Keith and Elizabeth both graduated from Furman University in beautiful Greenville, SC, just up the road. We all fell in love with Lake Hartwell and knew this was the perfect spot for our families to gather. We hope you will share our Lake Place Retreat with your family and friends and create some special memories of your own.

Our home is a unique A-frame style lake house with rustic, shiplap walls that have been whitewashed for a bright, airy feel. With three private bedrooms and one sleeping loft, the setup is ideal for 2 families or a girlfriends' getaway, and the three full baths help accommodate everyone. The sunroom allows for a second relaxation area with its own TV and large dining table, big enough for a large puzzle. We spend most of our time on the spacious decks, where there is always some amount of shade. Our cove always has plenty of water. Even in drought years, the lake is at least 12 feet deep in the slip and has been as deep as 25. Our neighborhood is wooded, quiet, and peaceful.

We have a STRICT no smoking, no pet policy. We know your pet is adorable and sweet, but you'll need to find another house if you must bring Fluffy with you. Also, our house is set up for a MAXIMUM of 8 people, even counting children. If you have more than 8, please keep looking at the other great houses on Hartwell that can accommodate your group.

Most of our guests rave about our multi-level decks and our fire pit patio. Our house is nestled in the woods with plenty of trees for your Enos, but you can always see the water, which is why you come to the lake in the first place. Our cove is quiet and the water is deep. Even when the lake is down, we usually have well over 12 feet in the boat slip. Our dock is at the end of the gently-sloping, pea gravel path. Come and relax and see why this is our happy place!
