Extremely Disappointing
One of the reasons we booked this property was because from the photographs it appeared updated and clean. Upon arrival, however, we found the house had only been partially updated and that it had an obvious water problem. The property reeked of mold, mildew, and must. There was mold on the upstairs bathroom ceiling and in the seam of the shower insert; rust and mold spores growing in various vents; and mold and/or mildew on the first floor shower liner, wall, and corner. There was a dehumidifier that we had to empty each day, which required climbing over a couch and behind a table to reach. One of our family members has allergies, which were triggered, and she suffered symptoms the entire stay. After leaving, we had to launder our clothes several times to remove the odors. The house also had a steady stream of ants in the kitchen and living room. We did attempt to work with the property owner and property manager about our concerns to no avail. We also attempted to find a comparable rental (updated; 3 BRs; 2 BA with one BR and BA on first floor) to move to, but there were none available. We have been coming to Chincoteague for many years and have never had any issues. As stated above, this stay was extremely disappointing.
