Ai piedi della maestosa catena montuosa di San Juan si trova una capanna di tronchi fatta a mano immersa in un boschetto di vecchi alberi ponderosa e pioppi. Si trova lungo un tratto privato di Dallas Creek e offre un ambiente perfetto per la tranquillità e il relax.

La cabina da 2. 5 camere da letto e 1. 5 bagni è stata costruita da artisti, quindi molti degli arredi e dei dettagli sono creativi, realizzati a mano e includono cimeli di famiglia. L'atmosfera rustica delle cabine è completata da Wi-Fi ad alta velocità, TV a schermo piatto, lettore DVD e impianto stereo. Non c'è la TV via cavo ma ci sono molti libri e giochi. Oppure, esprimi il tuo artista interiore sul tavolo da disegno ben fornito. La porta d'ingresso si apre sull'ampio soggiorno con un soffitto alto che si estende al secondo piano ed è riscaldata dalla stufa a legna. La camera è arredata con comode poltrone in pelle e un divano. Le grandi finestre mettono in mostra torrente, boschi e montagne. La cucina completa ha un salottino bar ed è adiacente alla sala da pranzo. Le finestre circostanti offrono una vista sulla straordinaria fauna selvatica che si raduna vicino al torrente. Le "porte del salone" conducono a una lavanderia e un bagno completo. La scala dei "capitani" conduce alla camera da letto principale soppalcata e al bagno di servizio, che è arredato con un comodo letto matrimoniale e un sacco di armadio e cassettiera. La finestra ad arco funge da testiera per osservare le stelle. Sullo stesso livello, attraverso il "ponte" c'è un antico letto per fare un sonnellino o leggere con la catena di San Juan che ti guarda giù con il torrente che scorre. Al piano inferiore si trova un'accogliente seconda camera da letto arredata con un letto matrimoniale con vista su San Jauns e sul giardino roccioso boscoso.

La porta sul retro si apre su un grande ponte a terrazze verso il torrente. Goditi il caffè al mattino e il vino la sera con il suono del torrente che scorre. Passeggia attraverso l'ambiente simile a un parco o vai a pescare lungo il tuo torrente privato. Questo ambiente caldo e unico è perfetto per una fuga romantica, due coppie di adulti o una piccola famiglia (non adatto a bambini di età inferiore a 12 anni). Potresti non voler lasciare l'isolamento della proprietà, ma se lo fai, la città di Ridgway è a soli 3 miglia di distanza e tutte le attività offerte dalla zona sono vicine. I proprietari vivono dall'altra parte di questa proprietà di 8 acri. Proprio dietro la proprietà è una cintura verde selvaggio di 200 acri.

Nelle vicinanze si trova il Ridgway State Park con percorsi, canottaggio e pesca. Inoltre, gli appassionati di mountain bike saranno entusiasti del RAT (sistema Ridgway Area Trail) a un miglio di distanza. Le città storiche di Ouray (9 miglia) e Telluride (36 miglia) sono facilmente raggiungibili in auto. Le sorgenti termali si trovano appena fuori Ridgway e in Ouray. Centinaia di miglia di strade Jeep ti consentono di esplorare l'alta campagna e le miniere storiche. Nice spot just north of Ridgway

Lovely owners. Good communicators too. My major observation is that you must climb a steep ladder to get to the beds on the second floor. In addition, I think the kitchen could use some more utensils and glassware. It is a nice spot to have privacy for one couple or a single. Owners live up the road about 100 yards but no other traffic.

Quiet and peaceful

Cabin is nicer than the pictures. Very quiet and peaceful. Slept with the windows open most nights, no road noise or traffic could be heard, just the sounds of the river and nature. Would definitely stay again. Host were very nice and easy to communicate with.

Foliage and Fly Fishing

The cabin is really cute and in a wonderful location! We loved relaxing on the patio while listening to the creek! Vanessa and Bruce were very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend the cabin!

Fabulous Getaway to Colorful Colorado

My, oh my, this home, property, and location were amazing. While we like to venture out in the Ouray area, we often found ourselves on the expansive deck reading, chatting, and enjoying the relaxing sound of the creek rushing by. The home was very clean and we found everything we would need for our week long stay. Bruce and Vanessa are fabulous hosts, very responsive to any questions we had. They have created quite the oasis for guests to enjoy time away. The location is off the beaten path a bit but also near enough the highway to make easy trips down the valley, as I refer to it. We definitely recommend the Root Wings Retreat and plan to stay again the next time we are in that part of the state. Check them out, you won't be disappointed! Thank you, Bruce and Vanessa, for making your home and property available to us. Cheers!

A magical oasis, complete with the sounds of a bubbly stream!

The little cabin was EXACTLY what we were hoping for to get away from everything! Vanessa and Bruce were so accessible for anything we needed or for questions we had about the area. There were so many perfect areas to read, paint, play the guitar or play games. There were even a couple of bicycles Bruce fixed up for us to use. Simply a PERFECT place to unwind.

Fantastic cabin to explore San Juan Mountains

First I must admit that this review is somewhat biased because I prefer to rent true "vacation rentals by owners" and this cabin is the perfect example. It is part of Bruce and Vanessa's homestead that they live in the majority of the year. They are fantastic hosts both in having an amazing home to share and supporting all vacation related questions. The cabin itself is beautiful inside and most importantly has all the comforts you would expect. The incredibly well stocked house is not just convenient but also saves money in that you don't have to buy so much everyday stuff. It really feels like you are their guest, not a "rentor". Ridgeway is a nice little town, but the great part of this location is that you can access Black Canyon NP, Ouray, and Telluride in an hour. Plus you get you enjoy sitting by the creek every night. The only thing to keep in mind is that as you might expect there in no AC. On the surface this sounds like no big deal as it cools down amazingly well at night. We had 3 straight days in the 90s, so took several nights for us to figure out how many windows to leave open to cool down the house for the next day w/o freezing ourselves in the morning. Once we got the hang of it all was well. In summary, this is one of my best VRBO experiences and I hope to be able to return another summer.

Wonderful vacation!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rootwings Cabin. The owners are so nice and friendly and provided information on fun things to do nearby and great places to eat. We loved this cabin! It’s so unique, comfortable and clean. The deck is awesome and the flowing Dallas creek is nice to watch and listen to. Hope to get back soon!!

We loved our stay at this beautiful cabin. Quiet, relaxing and peaceful to sit by the river. Incredible hiking within a half hrs drive. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook several meals. Would definitely return if back in the area.

A Fabulous Stay!

We stayed in Bruce and Vanessa's cabin for 9 nights late June/ early July. Vanessa was there to greet us, go over the cabin, and made us feel at home. The cabin and the grounds/deck are just beautiful with the peeks of the San Juans from the windows and the Dallas River running right throught the property. The captian's stairs to the loft area and bedroom are steep but very doable as long as you come down backwards. Older visitors may not like this. The bed was very comfortable, firm but not hard and the shower downstairs had great water pressure. Of course, there is no air conditioning but on our warmer days, Vanessa was kind enough to find a fan for us which helped us sleep better. In all fairness, I must mention the internet connection, which Bruce and Vanessa have no control over, but if someone was planning on working, one should know that it can be spotty. It will cut out while watching streaming services and sometimes your phone will have a connection, sometimes not. It seemed to work a little better upstairs at night. Just useful info for those that might be working remotely. Regardless, we were there for the mountains and access to everything was right there: 5 minute drive to Ridgway, 10-15 min to Ouray, and about 25 min to Montrose. If in Ridgway, make sure to get reservations to Provisions Cafe, the best meal we had while in the area, and pay a visit to Bruce and Vanessa's art gallery, charming! My husband and I hope to have our own place in Ridgway and we can't thank Bruce and Vanessa enough for welcoming us and making us feel at home.

Peace and quiet

Darling cabin convenient to town, close to main highway. Relax to sound of creek flowing by with beautiful mountain views. Cabin is nicely furnished with everything you could possibly need. It was everything I expected and more. I hope to be able to return. Gorgeous area.

Stunning solitude and convenience

We loved our time here. Bruce and Vanessa were wonderful to work with and have created a beautiful, relaxing haven with everything you could possibly need. They were both so welcoming and a great help. This retreat is also the perfect jumping off place for day trips around the area. We'll be back!

Private and fabulous! The sound of a running creek, surrounded by trees, wildlife & mountain views!

Beautiful cabin, private and spacious decks, great location for day trips to Ouray, Telluride, or the nearby river for fly fishing. The cabin is decorated in a lovely, personal way which makes you feel like a special guest of the family. Kitchen was well stocked, from utensils to pots and pans, and there is a very nice outdoor grill on the deck. If you do not want to cook, the town of Ridgway is a short drive away where there are many great restaurants. We spent a great deal of time on the multi-level deck which provides many places to sit and watch the birds, read, or nap to the relaxing sound of Dallas Creek. The stars were outstanding! We spent several nights on the deck laying comfortably on the lounge chairs looking at the amazing night sky. Ouray is approximately 20 minutes away, Telluride about 45 and the nearby river, depending on which part of the river you fish is from 3 minutes to 15. We recommend RIGS Adventure CO Fly Shop in Ridgway to get the local fishing information. What a wonderful stay! The owners, Bruce and Vanessa are friendly and kind and we felt very relaxed right away!

Great location ,cabin and hosts!

We loved the location! The cabin had everything we needed! The mountain stream was so relaxing. We could have fished but chose not to. Perfect place to go if you need to get away from it all! Deer came around every day. Bruce and Vanessa were so welcoming and thought of everything we needed! We loved it all!

Great property, great setting, perfect hosts!

Bruce and Vanessa had our cabin in perfect condition and awaiting our arrival. Everything about the cabin was great, from the fully equipped kitchen to the decks above beautiful Dallas Creek to the wonderfully romantic window in the master bedroom. The setting seemed remote although it's only a few minutes from Ridgway and its great restaurants. We loved our week there and we definitely recommend the cabin to others.

This was Our Favorite Cabin we have ever stayed in. This Cabin is so unique and Beautiful.

We truly Loved everything about this Lovely Cabin. It is so unique, quaint, peaceful, and such a gorgeous location by the river . We had breakfast on the deck every morning overlooking the river with the Beautiful Mountains in the background . This was our favorite spot. The Owners are wonderful and so kind. They designed and built this beautiful cabin . They are amazing artists . It was so clean and such a Zen oasis trip for us ! We can't wait to go back ! We loved everything about this Cabin .

Spotless cabin with spectacular views

We have stayed in over a dozen cabins in Colorado, and this was by far the best accommodations we have ever had. The entire home was spotless and it was very well furnished. We were able to get away from it all and enjoy spectacular views in a very private location--would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the San Juan region. P.S. We brought fixings to prepare all our meals, but ended up enjoying fantastic restaurants in Ridgway, Telluride and Gunnison!

Relax in your Private Paradise

FIVE STARS! My husband and I have spent several summers coming to this cabin for a "get out of the city and get into nature" summer vacation! This "cabin" is set back away from the road providing lots of privacy. It is in great condition and is well stocked with amenities- towels, sheets, soap, washer and dryer... I just sleep better when I'm in this cabin. My cares and responsibilities fall away as I anticipate my arrival and we find that we are able to relax and enjoy ourselves breathing in the clean air and looking at the gorgeous mountain range. Although we have cell service, we are free from television and the constant news cycle we find ourselves tied to at home. Thank goodness! Although it can take a San Diegan a day or two to acclimate to the altitude, the first few days can be spent taking long drives through the mountains or short walks around the area. I like to sit in the hammock shaded by the trees and listen to the birds chirping and the river as it cuts its way through the property. Reading usually turns into napping for me! If you don't like sitting outside, sitting inside with the large windows allows the view to come to you. Then, we love to ride bikes down to the reservoir, raft down the river or take longer hikes up near Telluride. There's always somewhere new to explore! For dinner, we have the choice of dining in with the use of a full kitchen or going out to the town of Ridgway or nearby Ouray. If you can, try to plan your trip around the summer concerts in the park. It's fun to take your picnic and enjoy the music and the company of the locals. When I finally make my way to the bed upstairs and I look up and out the window, I see so many stars. There's too much light living in the city and I have only seen stars like this while on the ocean! In the morning, if I'm lucky, I can see deer feeding in the front. In this cabin, one doesn't really need to go anywhere, it's a park all around you!
