Schönes Haus in toller Lage

Das Haus und die Lage waren sehr schön und der Gastgeber sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Leider hatten wir abends (im Hochsommer) viele Mücken.

Stylish accommodation and great outdoor activities

We have been staying @ Can Cruanyes for a few years now to escape for a picturesque and peaceful weekend break. Apartments are fully equipped. ..great grounds and surrounding scenery...Donny and family really make an effort in making the whole experience memorable and we always want to stay longer! ...Full marks in location, quality of furnishings and accommodation and effort. Pets allowed is a huge bonus for us!

Wonderful retreat, clean and family friendly

A++ Donny makes for a friendly welcoming host. Our apartment was clean and well equipped. Great facilities and large grounds. Would highly recommend for a Spanish getaway. Wonderful hiking area with the beautiful wild mountains as your backdrop. Peaceful retreat away from all hussle but with easy access to local villages and towns. Our little boy loved it! Thank you.

Idyllic setting in mountains, lovely hosts

We loved and our stay here, and will definitely return, The property itself sits comfortably on the mountain, retaining much of its rustic charm, we found it idyllic, with much to do locally or further afield, we ran out of time, a week just wasn't long enough, I can't speak highly enough of Donny, he made us feel so welcome from the outset ,despite arriving at gone 2.30 in the morning! Throughout the week , nothing was too much trouble and we left feeling we had new friends in Spain, It's the perfect place to sit and chill out, enjoying the pool , or to explore , there are some hidden gems and stunning scenery all around the immediate area, local shops are only a few minutes by car. Thankyou so so much, looking forward to coming again in the not too distant future, Tim and Sarah

A relaxing holiday

A wonderful, relaxing, peaceful place to spend a holiday. Plenty to do locally, walking etc, Besalu is a nice place to stroll around. The coast or the French border are within an hour, but we spent quite a bit of time staying around the apartment. We were there in the height of summer and the apartment stayed pretty cool. A couple of mountain bikes were available which kept our lads entertained. We'd certainly consider coming again.

Magnificent location, good facilities, great hosts

We found Can Cruyanes to be ideal for our needs. We all loved the pool and open grounds. The accommodation - Holly - was clean and well equipped. The setting is stunning and contributed greatly to a relaxed stay. We also found Can Cruyanes very handily located for visits to Gerona, the volcano area around Olot and the beaches of the Costa Brava. We would recommend Can Cruyanes and hope to stay again. Delightfully tranquil and comfortable home from home mountain retreat...

We arrived to be welcomed warmly by Donny, who is a charming and friendly guy. He and his wife Sibhan have created a great mountain retreat in the ideal location to explore the Pyrennees and surrounding countryside. The area is fantastic for walking and cycling (if you are pretty fit!), but is equally beautiful to explore by car. We also made a trip to the coast and found a delightful (uncommercial) beach, as advised in the house's file of useful information. It took us well under an hour to get there on very easy speedy roads. Also, the local medieval towns and villages offer great places to eat, drink and explore. We stayed in 'Holly' - my husband and I with our 12 year old son. It was very comfortable for the three of us. The beds were comfortable and the house was well kitted out with everything we needed for our 5 night stay. I would suggest if you can, stop en route at the Spar Supermarket in Besalu to get provisions. We enjoyed time on the terrace each evening with a bottle of wine, which does get some sun through the day, and could just see the beautiful mountains from the very slightly over enclosed small terrace (I do understand why the fence has been put up, to give more privacy). We spent a good deal of time by the pool, which is a beautiful place to sit and take a dip in what was apparently unusually hot weather at over 37 degrees c. A great trip, and we would definitely recommend and will definitely return! Thank you Donny and Sibhan x PS We envy your lifestyle :)

Great time in Can Cruanyes

The location is perfect to visit many point of interest (Garotxa Volcanic Zone, Olot, Besalu, Figueres/Cadaqués, etc.) The Catalan farmhouse is really charming and the appartment is well-maintained and very functionnal with lots of equipment for cooking. The large swimming pool is clean and there is a lot of space for kids to play outside. Our host Donny spent time with us to provide precious advices for visiting the area. We would not hesitate recommending this place to anyone!

A great week

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Can Cruanyes, in a beautiful setting with the Pyrenees to look out on when we sat out for meals. Everything we needed was there. The weather was extremely hot during our week and there is no air conditioning, but Donny provided fans, so it was fine. The good size pool was very welcome! Donny was extremely helpful whenever we asked anything and there was a lot of useful information about the area in the property. It was quite hot to do much sight-seeing, but there were some beautiful surrounding villages and towns which we enjoyed visiting. The kids also enjoyed doing some cycling with the mountain bikes provided. Many thanks, Donny, we hope to return one day!

Un moment magique dans un endroit magique

Toute la famille a profité jusqu'au dernier moment de la beauté du lieu et de la gentillesse de ses hôtes, Donny et Shivon. Nous avions loué l'appartement Roure, le plus grand, pour 4 nuits. La maison est très bien équipée et les lits sont très confortables...nous y avons dormis comme des rois! De magnifiques balades d'une heure, découverte de piscines naturelles, petits torrents de montagne...les GR sont très faciles et tout est très bien indiqué. La région est magnique en fin de saison...Ilha, la chienne du voisin (spannish water dog, j'adore!) nous a accompagné dans chacune de nos expéditions, au grand plaisir des enfants! Je recommande 100%

UN FANTÁSTICO Y RELAJANTE FIN DE SEMANA

Estuvimos dos parejas este fin de semana en Can Cruaynes y la experiencia fue genial. Un apartamento rural, totalmente equipado y con chimenea para relajarnos junto al fuego. A destacar la amabilidad de Donny, que se portó muy bien con nosotros. El entorno es estupendo para desconectar de la ciudad, practicar algo de deporte o incluso, hacer una buena barbacoa. Sitio muy recomendable. Esperamos volver en otra ocasión. Thanks, Donny!

An excellent place to stay.

The property appears quite suddenly at the end of a rough track and is really attractive, as the pictures suggest. We were made to feel really welcome by both Donny and Siobhan, the owners, although their presence during the week could not have been less obtrusive - they were marvellous and responded to questions regarding the area really positively and with a keen desire to help. Lovely little personal touches, such as the fresh ivy leaves decorating our towels and wild flowers left in little pots, added to the charm of the apartment. Very clean and simply furnished, the 2-bed apartment met our family's needs perfectly. The good-sized pool is set to the side of a beautiful lawned meadow area, where we played football and table tennis, as well as just having space to run around. Peaceful and quiet - the Pyrenees form an awesome backdrop to the immediate surroundings. The local village (Tortella) is quaint and great for meat, bread and cheap vino! Only a short hop to Figueres and Orlot, which are both lovely towns to spend some time. Definitely recommended and we shall return!

A holiday which thirsts for more

We spent a lovely fortnight in this cosy farmhouse, where we quite immediately felt at ease. The spaciousness of the property, combined with the tranquility of the location, made us feel 'coming home' after the various day trips we did. Can Cruanyes, situated a little bit off road, on the slopes of a mountain, in the woods, was the perfect starting point for our excursions (hiking into the mountains, visiting medieval villages and larger city's the North East of Catalonia). We also enjoyed nearby Tortella, with it's down to earth daily life (market place, bakery, butcher, cafe's, ...) or just staying 'at home' and having a chat with the other guests, make use of the swimming pool, the BBQ or the large lawns to play soccer, (table-)tennis or petanque. The owners, Donny and Siobhan, are very kind and ready to give you some touristic advise or fix some small problems in your appartement. We certainly go back. We still have a lot to see and to 'experience'.

Entorno y trato perfectos

Hemos estados dos días en Can Cruanyes. El trato de Donny ha sido perfecto, mimando cada detalle de nuestra estancia. Estuvimos alojados en el apartamento Roure con un bebé de 3 meses (nos facilitaron una cuna). El alojamiento cuenta con todas las comodidades: cocina (menaje completo, aceite y vinagre,...), baños (amenities), sala de estar (TV, DVD's,...), internet, terraza privada ... La masía cuenta con una piscina muy limpia y cuidada donde relajarse, un jardín muy cuidado y amplio donde jugar, pasear y disfrutar de un entorno muy tranquilo. Lástima que no pasáramos más días para disfrutar de todos los espacios comunes. Un lugar perfecto para descansar y visitar Besalú, Olot, Santa Pau, Castellfollit de la Roca...

Un fin de semana genial!

El pasado fin de semana estuve con mi pareja en Can Cruanyes. Es una casa rural de ensueño! En el apartamento no faltava de nada, y el lugar es ideal para desconectar de todo. Los propietarios son encantadores! Pudimos disfrutar hasta el Domingo por la tarde del lugar! No será nuestra última visita en Can Cruanyes! Gracias por todo!

PERFECT!

great location and surroundings. very close to Besalu, Figueres, just 40 min from beautiful beaches. Stunning view from the terrace. The apartment was very clean and practical! We definitely fell in love with the garrotxa region!! Hope to come again some day

Un apartamento bien equipado y un trato perfecto.

He pasado un fin de semana en pareja y con mi perro en el apartamento Cirerer. El apartamento está perfectamente equipado, y el dormitorio es muy cómodo. Lo mejor del apartamento en invierno es la estufa de leña, aunque fuera haga mal tiempo estás super a gusto en el interior si quieres descansar. El exterior es amplio y está muy bien cuidado. Tiene una piscina fantástica que espero poder disfrutar cuando haga mejor tiempo, pues desde luego es un sitio para volver. El trato es excelente, muy atentos y respetuosos. El entorno es muy tranquilo y silencioso. Una casa perfecta para descansar en pareja o en familia.

UN PARAISO

Esta casita tiene 3 alojamientos para todo tipo de grupos. Esta situada en un lugar idílico. Nosotros fuimos 2 noches a la pequeña "Cirerer" y nos sorprendió por lo limpia y bien equipada que estaba. Todas tienen chimenea y leña a disponer junto a la casa. El silencio es total y si vas con niños, tiene mucho terreno alrededor para jugar. Lo recomiendo porque soy incapaz de poner una sola objeción. Es un remanso de paz para escaparse y desconectar. Repetiremos sin duda. Además el dueño es muy amable y si necesitas ayuda para lo que sea, está alli siempre.

Un fantastico fin de semana.

Can Cruanyes es un lugar magnifico situado en el bosque a pocos kilometros de Besalú y en la maravillosa zona de la Garrotxa. La casa es muy bonita y acogedora, hay caleffación muy eficiente y además una bonita chimenea con leña disponible en abundancia. La cocina es muy bien equipada. Las mascotas son bienvenidas. Donny, el dueño, es muy simpatico y amable. En fín, seguramente volveremos pronto!

2 bedroomed apartment Can Cruanyes

What an idyllic place to stay! The apartment was well maintained and equipped. The pool was a welcome relief in the August heat . Our 2 teenage children loved the hammocks and the setting was stunning surrounded by the mountains. Shopping in Tortella was a lovely experience as the locals were so friendly and advised us on how to cook the local white beans and what to put in an authentic paella. They even coped with our attempts at Spanish and lots of sign language and the butcher called out his daughter to practice her English on us. We drove up the mountain (2 hour walk!) and then walked for half an hour to a very remote church on top of mountain which was the most alone we have felt in a long time. Loved swimming in local rock pools and river and visiting medieval villages. Donny and Siobhan and were very friendly and helpful hosts,providing a warm welcome and help and advice when needed. We fell in love with the neighbours dog who bought us a constant supply of stones! We spent our second week on the coast but in future would rather stay at Can Cruanyes and travel to coast for beach days which would be quieter and cooler at night. Thanks for a lovely week.

Regarding the walk up to the church, if you actually reach it ok another 45 minutes from there should bring you to the peaks of the mountains that Can Cruanyes look up to. Some breathtaking views are had.

Perfect place with kids

We stayed for a week at the end of May 2012 with a 3 year old and a 7 month old. We stayed in the 2 bed which was perfect. The house is lovely and it has every facility you could require. The swings and sandpit were fantastic for keeping our 3 yr old busy and the swimming pool is totally safe in that a child can't open the gate. There is loads of space for kids to run around and the neighbors dog was the gentlest dog we've ever come across - our son thought he was going to come home with us! The location in the mountains is just beautiful and peaceful and its location is perfect for afternoon trips to old stone villages and beaches. Donny and Siobhan were always so helpful and even though there were other guests too - it felt like we had the place to ourselves. In the evening, when the kids were asleep, the outdoor sitting area was perfect for relaxing and listening to the most amazing sounds of nature! Would hope to return again!

Gorgeous Spot!

If you arrive in the rain and drive through drab towns en route (as we did), don't be put off... once you reach Can Cruanyes, the landscape becomes absolutely wonderful.... a true getaway. Here, up in the mountains, you'll find a different micro-climate even from nearby historic Besalu (which, by the way, definitely warrants a visit). The peaks have an almost bluish cast -- and when were were there in May, it was lush and full of wildflowers. Donny, the on-site manager (and owner's son), couldn't have been nicer. He's actually Irish -- and is easy going and very accommodating. Yes, we arrived mid-week and before peak season, but, all the same, he didn't have to offer us (just a couple) a three-bedroom apartment for the price of the one-bedroom (which happened to be unavailable). Extremely nice and entirely unexpected! It was a bit too early to plunge into the pool, which appeared sparkling clean, quite big... and again, in this glorious setting. Enjoy!

Finde semana especial

La intención era pasar un finde semana en familia, sin prisas, sin horarios y en un lugar tranquilo, éramos 7 adultos y un bebe, y nos sorprendió el lugar, la casa, el entorno., la casa preciosa muy equipada, limpia, la piscina, el entorno bien cuidado, sinceramente nos encanto, es un lugar perfecto en medio de la naturaleza, os lo recomiendo de verdad. el dueño muy amable y atento, es un bonito lugar para ir, gracias!
