Place was great, came stocked with a lot of equipment and amenities. Pictures were all accurate, very soulful little cottage on the lake. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet getaway in Maine.

We loved Dodge lodge! Everything was comfortable, the camp was full of everything we needed. All we had to do was bring food and clothes. We enjoyed the Sunfish sailing boat and kayaks. Mostly loved the calm peaceful spot on the pond. Access to Acadia was about 45-50 minutes from the camp which was doable and we did it quite often. Check in was easy, communication was great and overall we enjoyed our stay and would definetly stay again. The only thing I would improve on would be to update the listing because there was not use of a row boat, a pedal boat or an air hockey game. The outdoor porch was nice, but lacked the couch that the photo showed but was really no big deal. Shower is definetly tight but well worth the challenge. Water was hot, air conditioning worked, indoor wood stove was nice on the rainy cool days. There were many things to make your stay comfortable. We highly reccomend.

What a great place to stay and get away from it all. We thoroughly enjoyed our week on Molasses Pond. Day trips to Bar Harbor. Acadia and Schoodic Peninsula; lazy days sunning on the dock, swimming and kayaking in the clean clear water. The 45 min drive to “everything” wasn’t bad at all and we could get any supplies we needed in nearby Ellsworth. The house is cozy and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen. The shower stall is tight, but totally do-able for a relaxing shower, hot water and strong water pressure was awesome and something you usually get at a camp on a lake. We would definitely make a return trip to this spot.

Return to the Dodge Lodge

This was my second stay at the Dodge's camp. My son, daughter, and I stayed for two weeks. The camp is well-equipped and comfortable. The addition of A/C, since my last stay 7 years ago, was welcome as there were several days and nights that were hot and humid. The lake was great for swimming. Located 45 minutes from Acadia Park and 55 minutes from Bar Harbor and Schoodic Peninsula, it's in a great location. The bathroom is small and the shower is very tight but serviceable. Overall, the camp is a typical Maine " lake camp" and a great place to stay.

A Getaway Gem

My two sons, two dogs and I had a wonderful stay at the Dodge Lodge! The view is amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed kayaking the pond, though my son had zero luck catching any fish. This is truly a lodge in the woods about a half hour from civilization. As you might imagine, that has its pros and cons. If you're seeking to truly escape hustle-bustle, indulge nature, capture serenity and all its amazing views, this is your getaway gem! Our host Paul was beyond exceptional - extremely communicative!

1st trip to Maine

Nice quaint little cabin. Really looked forward to fishing in the rowboat or pontoon (both not available). Owner did not update that these were not available. Did have kayaks. Although we are seniors and getting the kayak down the steep hill would have been a challenge for us. The owner came through and his wonderful maintenance guy Lou got us a boat in the water so we could enjoy our week of fishing on the beautiful pond. Although we only caught small fish it was still great being on the water relaxing. Owner came through and we loved our stay. Look forward to coming back again.

Love view of Molasses Pond.

The area is beautiful. Everything was as stated. Found a few things, storage for food had no cupboard space. The Ramp was steep, anyone with difficulty ambulating would find it hard getting up and down. Space was limited in living area due to "Cabin Clutter" and oversize furniture. It had everything somewhere! Up in bunk area beds were uncomfortable. Recliner was great. Everything work. Many steps to dock and front door. All are visible in pictures. TV and Wi-Fi worked well. Rent again, probably, Camps are Camps!

For the most part, the comments are fair. Stuff accumulates, and we haven't been able to do much about it these last two years. Our family will take care of it next June. It's a family cottage, so not furnished starkly like a motel. But we'll look into down-sizing somewhat. As for the steepness of the ramp, my wife is not very mobile and she manages at her own pace. I wouldn't call it steep, as ramps go. We plan to get new mattresses next season. We appreciate the objective input. Paul & Winnie

Great spot. Beautiful lake. Nice outdoor space. We loved spending time in the adirondock chairs overlooking the lake with the firepit. The screened in porch is great too. Pics don't do it justice. Owner communication great. Only minor complaint is full size beds are small if you're sharing a bed. But the downstairs bedrooms are small, so there really is no other option. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. There wasnt airhockey or foosball in the boathouse yet. But the available kayaks were nice to have. (The SUPs and the inflatable tube in the pics were ours. But there were 4 kayaks and a sunfish sailboat there for use. There were also some life jackets available). There is a little ramp off the dock for access to the water- perfect if you have kids or dogs. We love being off the beaten path - this place is 30mins from Ellsworth, which is the closest grocery store and restaurant options (there are a couple roadside takeout places closer). We traveled to Acadia twice and it was a nice drive. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would recommend!

Cozy and Comfy

This vacation was perfect. After the first weekend there was no one else staying on the lake near us except the resident loons. Acadia was not at all crowded and the Island Explorer bus system was convenient and easy to use. The dormitory under the eaves is where we chose to sleep so we were able to see the lake, see the full moon, hear the loons, and enjoy the sunrise right from the comfort of our beds. The fire pit was right next to the lake and we used it almost every night. The cottage was rustic but comfortable and spacious. The main sitting area was cozy and inviting. The weather was perfect for swimming the first week and perfect for hiking and bonfires and sightseeing the entire trip. The leaves were changing throughout our stay, so we got to see some fall color. Whale watching from Bar Harbor was the highlight of the trip as we spotted harbor porpoises, white sided dolphins, common dolphins, humpback whales, and even two right whales who are severely endangered. I recommend this property to anyone, whether adults or families with kids and pets. It is perfectly situated to easily reach Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and plenty of other destinations in the blueberry growing region or along the coast. Nova Scotia is also just a ferry ride away. It was a real downeast Maine getaway!

Second two-week vacation here in July

My family of four (our kids are 13 and 9) just finished a two-week July vacation at the Dodge Lodge, our second summer coming to this camp. We enjoyed being on Molasses Pond for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and viewing wildlife (bald eagles, loons, black ducks, mergansers, beautiful & harmless garter snake, red squirrels, dragonflies, and phoebes). As I mentioned in my review last year, this rustic, old-fashioned, lovely camp is full of character and soul. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking at home, and the two downstairs bedrooms have comfortably firm new mattresses this year. Knowing there was an air hockey table in the boathouse/shed, this year we brought along a new puck and two new handheld pieces for playing games, which we left as a gift to future kids staying there. (Pucks can fly off and get lost in the shed, so I recommend buying a few extras to bring with you if your kids will be playing.) The red tandem kayak, yellow solo kayak, and blue paddle boat all remain available for guest use, which we appreciate. We also appreciate having linens provided. Paul is a highly responsive, kind-hearted owner and I’m grateful for his good communication and helpfulness during what now add up to four weeks spent at Dodge Lodge during 2022 and 2023. I hope future guests will appreciate what this camp has to offer, and will care for the place and enjoy their time there, as we have.

Peaceful Maine Camp

We enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing week at this quaint Maine "camp." Beautiful sunrises and morning coffee on the porch, kayaking on the calm pond, and moonlit campfires. We found everything to be exactly as described in the listing. If you are expecting 5-star accommodations, this probably isn't the property for you. This is, however a very nice "camp" cottage with a full kitchen, electric, plumbing, and a full size water heater. Two main floor bedrooms with double beds were quite small with limited storage. Upstairs loft had six single bed bunks. As another review mentioned, the matress wasn't the most comfortable, but I believe the host mentioned plans to replace matresses next summer. Also, as mentioned in the listing and in other reviews, there is a ramp and stairs from the driveway to the cottage. This provided a bit of a challenge, as I'm a few weeks from knee replacement surgery - not impossible, but definitely something to be aware of for guests with mobility issues. The host provided excellent communication prior to our arrival and made an effort to get in touch with us during our stay to ensure that we didn't have any questions or issues. Centrally located and within an hour or two of a lot of things to see and do. We took day trips to Bangor, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Camden, and Lupec. My husband is already talking about going back and taking another couple or our adult children with us next time. We definitely enjoyed our time at the "Dodge Lodge."

Soulful rustic lake camp!

We savored our time at the Dodge Lodge with its gorgeous views of the lake, whether from the upstairs bedroom, the sunporch, and the dock. If you're looking for a luxurious lakeside experience in a newer cabin, you'll see from the listing that this isn't in any way pretending to be that! But if you're looking for a camp full of character and time and soul, with beautiful light and lots of great details (the air hockey table in the boathouse, the built-in shelves in the sunroom, the wooden steps to the dock), then you've found your happy place. We deeply appreciated our two weeks here, treating this lovely camp as our own, and we are excited that we will be back next year!

Magical getaway

My wife and i had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Dodge Lodge. The Dodge's are very kind and fantasticto work with. The views from the lake house are beyond what i could describe here. Be sure to wake well before sunrise and sit by the lake to watch thesun come up. If you're lucky you'll get to hear the loons call. The cottage is just under one hour from Acadia. We made the trip daily and it is actually a nice time to reflect, especially if you spent the day hiking or biking. If you plan to go to caddilac mountain get your reservation early. For hiking Acadia see the visitor center to register, (bring your mask, they don't mess around). We also took a boat tour, $38 each and more great views, we saw deals, porpoise and even three bald eagles. I could go on and on. Such a great stay.

Best Camp Ever!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Dodge Cabin! It is like going to camp but with several comforts. We loved being on the pond and while it was quite the drive to Acadia(which we anticipated), it was a wonderful place to make our base for a week. Sunrises are amazing, the property is beautiful and we truly had a great time. I call this camp because it’s not pristine or luxurious to most, but it feels like home away from home and we truly enjoyed where we were which made it a hard place to depart from. Paul is a fantastic host and makes sure you get there safe and an open ears to any concerns the guest may have (which we had none). If you are looking for a true Maine cabin experience, this is it! We would love to come back!

Family trip with teens

We had a very nice time at the cottage. The lake views are outstanding, and we enjoyed relaxing around the outdoor fire pit. Having access to the kayaks is a great perk that many homes do not offer. The communication process with Mr. Dodge was excellent from the initial booking until we arrived. Minor issue with a locked boathouse was resolved very quickly. Just be sure that you can make calls through a web calling app. My cell phone had no service, but my son was able to dial out with his through the app. Wifi, Roku and AC on 1st floor worked great. Would stay again if we if we had the chance.

Cozy cottage - one of our best vacations

This house is the best. It is cozy and so cute inside. Comfortable, with a nice sun porch that is amazing on sunny and rainy days. The outside of the property was amazing. Simply gorgeous and so relaxing. There were a variety of boats for us to use and the pond is just perfect. There was also a fire pit and chairs available for us. Paul our host was a good communicator and very nice. We can’t wait to come back to this great retreat- which is close to Ellsworth as well as Acadia. A great vacation that our kids enjoyed as much as we did!

Maine Charm!!

This was our first trip to Maine, and we wanted to find a true Maine cottage, and boy did we ever. Paul is the absolute best host I have ever encountered. He was so pleasant to communicate with by phone and email, even checking in to make sure we got there safely. The house exudes vintage charm and we truly felt "home" the entire time we were there. The lake was so clear, the view was stunning (be sure to wake up for a sunrise). We saw loons, ducks, fish, frogs and even a bald eagle. The ability to use the paddle boat and kayaks was such an added bonus. There is a little green space with a picnic table and firepit, and the surrounding woods gave you a sense of seclusion. The location is incredible, we were able to visit Acadia, downtown Bar Harbor, Bangor and the quaint little town of Ellsworth, all within an hour or less drive, and then come back to our own private sanctuary for peace and relaxation. If you are looking for a true getaway, this is it!

Perfect Getaway from NYC

We loved staying at Paul's - it was so nice to have access to the pond, kayaks, fire pit, etc. all within the rental. The pond is so clean and the water was so nice! Paul was so kind to check in on us often, and his property is a gem. The only thing I wish was that the house were a bit cleaner - linens and everything were totally fine, but there were definitely areas that could have been dusted/swept etc. But it was super homey, so it wasn't really a bother. Lovely stay - so close to Acadia Ntl Park and Bar Harbor too! Easy to get everywhere with a car.

Wholesome quarantine getaway

The "dodge lodge" was perfect for a week away from quarantining in the city. We spent a lot of time kayaking on the pond, fishing, and enjoying the peace and quiet, and actually seeing the stars! Waking up to the fog over the lake made us reconsider our life choices-- how could we go back to living without this view? The additional access to boathouse and tools was very kind and trusting of Paul. The property had lots of sleeping spaces. Kitchen had many amenities and cookware. The property is about an hour from Acadia and 30 mins from Ellsworth where all the main shopping can be done (shout out to MOMO's CHEESECAKE!! :D) overall we had an amazing experience at a pretty competitive price. We gave the lowest rating for cleanliness because there was an issue with the cleaning accommodations from the previous guest. The home was definitely a bit "lived in" by the time we got there, but it wasn't too off putting. Nonetheless we had a great time!

A Hidden Gem on Molasses Pond!

We stayed here at the end of August and could not have been more pleased with our experience. Not only was it an amazingly affordable price to rent this beautiful little cabin, but the host is incredibly helpful and considerate as well! We had numerous boats at our disposal, a luxury not afforded by many of the other properties we considered, and the sunrises were unbeatable. Not to mention how close you are to the water, the clearness of the pond, the many loons, and the cozy little fire pit. It was beyond anything we could have hoped! If you’re looking for a quiet, secluded, and relaxing vacation on a beautiful pond this is the place to go. Bar Harbor is also a mere hour drive away and Ellsworth is close by for grocery runs. We are eternally grateful to the Dodge’s for helping ensure we had an enjoyable stay, we can’t think of a single thing they could have done better!
