With its 4 bathrooms and 5-6 bedrooms, Villa Carlitos is ideal for a couple of families with kids or an extended family wanting a relaxing holiday together. It also works for anyone looking to find the real Andalucia, peaceful but not dead (a couple of bars and neighbours around), great walks, plenty of space on the various terraces to relax in and ideal for cooking great, leisurely meals, or going next door to Encarnita in 'El Molino' for lovely Andalucian, home-cooked, comfort-food or to the 'Table Mountain' if you want food a bit more sofisticated.
In the winter, the evenings centre around the log fire with candelight and music or videos and games. Breakfast and lunch can be eaten on the terrace most of the year. In the summer the various terraces ensure that you can always find shade or sun as you like and provide wonderful relaxing environments for late dinners and bottles of wine, star-gazing, listening to the crickets and watching the galactic fights to the death of the geckos against all-comers played out on the wall of the house.
Just an hour from Malaga's international airport and situated on a good-quality tarmac road, Villa Carlitos is relatively easy to get to but offers dramatic mountain and country views with walks from the front door. At around 700 metres above sea-level and in a small hamlet 10 minutes from the white-washed village of Comares, we are in the heart of the Axarquia and a short drive from the Montes of Malaga National Park. The hamlet of Los Ventorros is a combination of the most authentic Andalucian country life (the old men playing dominoes and cards in the bar next door, the sound of goat bells from the local herd, the friendlieness of the local people, the great country recipes) with a touch of the cosmopolitan provided by a few international neighbours from the surrounding villages (Brits, Dutch, German) who have also decided that they enjoy the good life of rural Andalucia.
