We thank this guest for her honest review as she deems fit for her experience. You can’t please everyone, and even though we’ve had incredible reviews through our other platforms, there’s always a guest or two who won’t find their experience to be enjoyable, no matter what. I feel the need to address some of the points she made for accuracy- The listing states “2 pets”, not “2 cats”. We’ve never hosted cats before and were transparent as can be about our concerns- allergies can be a major issue for some people, and we wanted to ensure this guest would abide by our pet policy. There was nothing more to it than that. We send EVERY guest who bring pets into our home a reminder to abide by the pet policy. In this case it was no different, we were just addressing cats for the first time ever, instead of dogs. We didn’t realize the guests would be offended by the concerns we had for our home. While true that we are extremely worried about pet dander and accidents (due to previous guest damages) we are also equally concerned about mold/mildew, and this should have been brought to our attention during the guests’ stay- we would have addressed it immediately and had the filters changed or adjusted the thermostat. It’s usually a simple fix and would have happily handled it, had we been made aware. This home has been COMPLETELY (not partially) remodeled and turned from a 2 bedroom, 1 bath to a 4 bedroom, 3 bath, with custom tile showers, fresh paint, a new roof, and HVAC system. However, living in the south comes with bugs (bees, in this guests experience), and humidity... we cannot control nature. Some windows have screens and others do not. But all the windows lock (for safety concerns), and I would recommend not leaving windows open, since that is a contributing factor to the mold/mildew this guest likely smelled. While I appreciate the public feedback we received from this guest, I would suggest guests bring any issues to our attention DURING their stay (so we can address it immediately) and spend more time enjoying their beach vacation than picking apart the minor imperfections of the house. While not perfect (as nothing perfect exists), we put in “extra touches” such as a welcome basket, mood music for arrival, nice lighting and upgraded linens & towels for our guests, which tend to get overlooked by guests having an unpleasant moment. To our future guests, please don’t let this one negative review sway your mind- we have many exceptionally positive reviews.
