Host was nice and accommodating. Cottage was decorated with a lot of fun. As with some VRBOs that are well used, this one is in need of several repairs and deep cleaning. Upholstery, rugs, dishes, shower , windows, . Broken blinds and toilet issues. Really creaky bed but comfort. A suprise lizard under the comforter - no kidding. I’m sure that doesn’t happen often. The owner needs to take a week to repair and reset the place. It is really close to town, good walking, quiet and friendly . Lots of towels and pillows.

Very cute cottage with many nice touches. Fenced back yard was great for our small dog. St Mary’s has a nice atmosphere that we appreciated. Predict we will be back.

Enjoyed our stay in St. Marys. The cottage was quite comfortable - no problems at all. St. Marys is a lovely little walkable town. Our dog enjoyed it perhaps even more than we did and is now complaining that we don't take her on as many walks.

We absolutely loved our stay! The cottage was so quaint and cozy! It had everything we needed! While dog-friendly, it was still very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and the fenced in yard was great. The location was perfect. We loved walking downtown to the river and for breakfast/dinner. We will be back!

Clean, spacious, quiet. Great back deck and yard. Well stocked kitchen and bath. Area information provided. Very convenient to downtown/waterfront—-walkable or bikeable. We would definitely recommend it and would stay there again.

The Merry Mermaid Cottage is the perfect place for a quick getaway. Its location is great for walking downtown to see the beautiful river view. It is a cozy and comfortable place to kick back and relax. Barbara was good to check in with us to make sure everything was good.

A song should be composed for this delightful cottage.All aspects of our stay were excellent. AC worked wonderfully in high heat and humidity periods. When we thought we needed something we opened a cupboard or closet and there it was. My daily walk was from the cottage to the St Marys waterfront and back.

Returning to childhood

The property is lovely. Perfect for a landing pad while exploring the area. The house is clean, well appointed and was quite relaxing. It is all you need for a weekend get away. We had no problems getting in, directions were spot on and everything was easy to find. St. Mary’s has not changed much in the last 40 years, and I love it even more.

Mermaid cottage

The cottage had a strong smell of cleaning solution. Even when we got home our bags smelled. When we got there the grass was tall leading the the door Fairly clean except the bathroom shower was not maintained. Did not appear clean around the floor and caulking. The shower was very small We don’t feel that it was price appropriate. There also added charges. Would not recommend this place to stay I did not take pictures. I am already home. We left early

Absolutely! Here's a longer version that keeps your tone and adds more detail without sounding too formal:---We had a wonderful stay at the Merry Mermaid Cottage in St. Marys, GA! The location couldn’t have been better—tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but still close to the waterfront, restaurants, and everything we wanted to explore in town. The house itself was comfortable and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that made it easy to settle in and relax. One of the things we loved most was that we could bring our pups along for the trip. Finding pet-friendly places that are truly *pet-friendly* can be tough, but this place nailed it. The fenced-in yard was perfect for them to run and play safely, and they were just as happy to be there as we were.The cottage had everything we needed—comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and cute beachy decor that added to the charm. That said, we do think the home could use a bit of a refresh. Some areas were showing signs of wear and could benefit from a deeper cleaning or light updates. Nothing major, but a few touch-ups here and there would really bring the place back to its full potential.All in all, it was a great stay. The location, pet-friendly yard, and relaxing atmosphere made it a memorable getaway for us and our furry family members. We'd absolutely consider staying again on our next trip to the area!

A great place for our short get-away

This nice home in a quiet neighborhood was just what we needed for our get-away less than an hour from home. From Mermaid Cottage we explored Cumberland Island and St. Mary's and had a comfortable place to return to each evening.

Perfect mini vacation

This cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed and more. The decor was lovely and it was located in a quiet neighborhood with downtown very closeby. We visited Apr 30 thru May 4th 2025 and the weather was delightful. The ferry to Cumberland was another wonderful day 9am- 3:30 pm departing downtown. Went to Local Dockside steak and seafood sitting outside with a waterview for dinner and we had the best shrimp ever so had to stop for lunch before diving home. Our host also was kind enough to allow us an early check in and noon check out. She also treated us to see a production at the Theater by the Trax. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if we can return to the area.

Mermaid paradise!

Super cute house! Loved the location, was able to take my dogs on a great walk and had room in the backyard for the them to relax. Contact with host was quick and prompt if needed. Had everything you may have needed for my fur babies which I appreciated so much.

Another great visit

This was our fourth stay at Merry Mermaid Cottage in the past five years. Every visit has been wonderful. The cottage is perfectly located for an easy walk to the St. Marys waterfront. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing, and the cottage is well-appointed and just right for a couple (and their dogs). We have stayed four nights each time, devoting one day for the waterfront and its shops and restaurants, one day spent at Cumberland Island National Seashore, and one day on a road trip to sights along the Georgia-Florida coast. This year we traveled to Jekyll Island for our road trip. In the past, we've traveled to Fernandina Beach and St. Augustine, FL. The host, Barbara Ryan, is super accommodating and in touch prior to our visit. We really couldn't ask for anything else. Thanks again for an exceptional stay, and we look forward to returning again next year!
