Perfect Harbor Island Stay

Absolutely perfect location. The property was well designed and very spacious. Beautiful porches with a fantastic view of the ocean. Would definitely stay again!

Harbor Island

Wonderful vacation. House was perfect for our family. Loved the beach and house was almost right across the street. The house was loaded with beach necessities including chairs and ten.

Great place close to the beach

Our family of six loved this house! The community was very quiet, the house was beautifully decorated and extremely clean, and the kitchen was well appointed for cooking local seafood. The beach was less than a five minute walk, and was typically empty. The water here is darker than Florida Atlantic beaches, but that is because of the proximity to the Harbor River, which runs into the bay there. Hunting Island State Park is just a few minutes down the road and provides great access to short hikes through marsh habitat. The Gay Fish Company is a must for fresh seafood to cook yourself; only about 5-10 minutes from the house. Be prepared to bring your groceries with you. Closest store (besides a small produce market and the Marsh Tacky Market) is a good 20 minutes away. This was a great place for quiet and solitude, and we really loved it.

We enjoyed our stay here. Location to the beach was wonderful. Only a short walk. We felt like we had our own private beach. Would stay at Sunshine House again.

House GREAT. Parking and security personnel TERRIBLE

The island is beautiful and the house was much above average. You will not be disappointed with the house. It was a royal pain to get on the island through security and park the cars. The home owners association has made it extremely difficult to accommodate visitors and park cars. We were badgered and cited by a Barney fife gate guard. I will never go back to Harbor Island because of the homeowners association and the gate guard.

We are glad you enjoyed our house and island. We feel this rating is supposed to be a reflection of our home and not the HOA so we are disappointed you would negatively impact our home rating with a one star over issues you had with security and the HOA while on the island. For future guests Harbor Island is a gated community and requires a gate pass to enter (noted is property description). If you ever plan to have a wedding on a private beach we would strongly suggest reaching out to the HOA for approval prior to having all your guests show up at the guard gate as there are limited number of passes a home can be issues. This particular property can not have more than 3 passes which equals one per bedroom.

Peaceful Getaway

Great house on Harbor Island for a quiet getaway! Nicely decorated and super close to the beach across the street. The golf cart was fun to explore the neighborhood. Approx 20-30min drive to Beaufort for restaurants and shopping. Had a nice few days of relaxation with the family!

Better Than Advertised!

The property was perfect for our family. It was beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean, and literally steps away from the beach. We had water views from every room! We highly recommend this property. It is quiet and peaceful.

Great stay!

It was just what we were looking for. Nice quiet community right across the street from the beach. We enjoyed relaxing by the ocean, cooking fresh seafood, and taking golf cart rides every night. I would highly recommend and would love to come back one day!

Best Stay Ever!!!

I have stayed on Harbor Island many times, but this was by far the best house we have ever stayed. The inside and outside flowed so well together. We got permission to have family over for Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone loved it. The neighbor to the left of our house, was great. I told them we were having some family over for Thanksgiving dinner. And that we would not disturb them, he said go for it. Thank you so much for opening your home up to us for this special holiday. Maybe one day we can have a special house, just likes yours. Happy Holidays.

Perfect Beach Cottage!

This is our 4th visit to Harbor Island, and this cute little beach house is our favorite! Perfect size for couples or small families. Beautifully decorated interior. Wraparound porch with ceilings fans and ocean view are perfect for early mornings with a cup of coffee, and late afternoons as the sun sets.
