We had a lovely vacation here! The house is ideally located across from Kollen Park (with a view of Lake Macatawa), and a short walk into downtown Holland. The house has a nice feeling inside and is spacious enough for a whole family. AC was also very responsive when we got in touch about replenishing a few household items.

Great 4 night stay. Everything was as advertised. Would definitely recommend and will stay there again.

The property was wonderful! It's ideally situated for easy access to the highlights of Holland. We could walk to the park, the river, and dinner at the BoatWerks restaurant. I highly recommend this home for a vacation rental.

House is great cottage feel, with plenty of room. Location is awesome with walking to handful of restaurants and 10mg Ute walk to downtown holland. Will stay here again

Perfect little get away

The house was great! Loved that it was right across the street from the park with a playground for our littles and we were able to walk to a restaurant on the lake. Very short drive into town.The house is cute! There is some street noise, but we didn’t find it to be a problem whatsoever. The new additions on the house are beautiful. Owner was great to communicate with, but we had no issues.

Charm and Comfort at Every Turn

We had a delightful stay at this beautiful home just off Lake Macatawa and directly across from a very picturesque public park. The house has been beautifully updated and meticulously maintained; it is even more lovely than photos showed. There were towels and bedding in abundance, fans in all the bedrooms, and basic kitchen supplies on hand. The sitting room has windows on three sides and is a bright, beautiful, and comfortable place to gather, visit, play games, etc. There are charming decorative and architectural details at every turn. We hope to return for a longer stay sometime.

Met our needs....

The location was in walking distance of downtown which we were looking for. Booking was easy and communication in regards to check in and out were timely, detailed and helpful. The house was generally clean, & beds comfortable, amenities and extras were nice to have (toiletries, etc..) We understand it's a 100+ yr old home but it was more run down than the pictures online showed. Peeling paint, crumbling wall in bathroom on main, not real clean under funiture or in the corners, crusty carpets. It worked for what we were looking for.

Frustrating

Based on our review from last year's stay and following multiple communications with the home owner to ensure the television was working and had operational documentation for the three remotes, upon arrival - no documentation had been prepared nor was the television even in working order. Over a few days, several hours were spent by both the owner and Xfinity to get the television operational. As a result, we were inconvenienced and experienced disruptions during our stay. We even had to cancel a tee time due to an unannounced 2+ hours visit by the technician and we were not comfortable leaving him alone in the house. We will not be returning.

The guest review is significantly factually inaccurate and really unbelievably disappointing. To clarify, the Xfinity Cable service outage had absolutely nothing to do with documentation, remotes, or anything w/ the owners control. This is the first guest in over 5 years that had an ongoing issue with the Cable TV & it was directly because Xfinity cable service was completely down both to property as well as to our "service area". Yet the guests blame the owners. I'm really truly speechless. The owners had zero control of the Xfinity cable not working, it was 100% an Xfinity service issue. Furthermore both owners spent over two (2) hours on the phone with Xfinity on four (4) separate calls to Xfinity within a 24-hour span in order to get a Xfinity technician expedited out to the house urgently, because the guests were insistent that they wanted/needed the Cable TV to be working. Xfinity had a last-minute cancellation opening, so I personally called the guests (I am one of the 2 owners) the evening after guest check-in to ask if they wanted a technician to come the next morning, and they were VERY clear that YES they wanted the technician to come. So it's incredibly disappointing that we spent many and did everything in our power to address the Xfinity service failure issue which we had no control of, and the guest blames the situation on the owners and writes the review that they did. Truly I'm speechless. In closing, the Xfinity Cable service outage during the first 36 hours of the guest stay had absolutely nothing to do with documentation, remotes, or anything that was within the property owners control.

The property was exactly a described! Location of the home is everything - beautiful park, lake views, and proximity to downtown. We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the hosts responsiveness.

It fell short of charming-the location was good

The pictures look great online. It was my mother and sister and I staying at the house. The stairs going up to the two bedrooms are very narrow and steep-old house. The doors upstairs didn't shut except for the bathroom. The rugs were well worn throughout the house. The couch was disgusting. It reminded me of something that was in an old frat house. It smelled like corn chips and the cushions were flat. We bought febreze to get through our days there. We were supposed to stay through Monday but left a day early due to shops being closed and the house really isn't conducive with lounging. I did email the owner and they never responded. Light bulbs were out throughout the house as well. The upstairs bathroom isn't great if you're putting makeup on due to that. Overall Holland was wonderful wish we picked a better home to stay in.

Weekend getaway

We went to Holland for a weekend and this house was perfect for what we needed! We rented bikes and were able to bike to downtown Holland. It was a great place and exactly what we were looking for.

I wanted to love it, but disappointed

My family and I found the traffic noise to be a significant issue. And yes, I read the description several times so I was aware of it. We are used to city noise where we live and we are not light sleepers. Regardless, this is more than just residential or "downtown" traffic noise. There is steady tractor trailer and dump truck traffic on the main street (Van Raalte) where this home is located. There is a fire station close to the house. It is also close to an industrial area - there is a Heinz plant about 3 blocks away, for example. The downstairs seemed clean, but I didn't find the same level of cleanliness in the upstairs part of the house. The area rugs in the bedrooms needed vacuumed (we found an open safety pin and toothpick on one, lint, etc.) and the bath mat in the upstairs bathroom did not look clean. Also a couple of the light fixtures upstairs were only partially working. I would have appreciated more privacy-creating window coverings in the bathrooms. Finally, I had to message the property manager to get the check-in instructions on the day of check-in versus them being proactively sent to me via the VRBO messenger. These are small issues taken alone, but taken together and with the noise level, we were disappointed. On the positive side - This home is decorated with care and the sunroom is a lovely addition. The kitchen is cute and nicely equipped. There is a nice garage for parking, the yard and home exterior is well maintained. The washer/dryer are nice and large capacity should you need it. The park across the street is nice, and you can see the lake from the house.

Wonderful mini-moon

My new husband and I had a wonderful getaway after our wedding! The house was very clean and exactly as shown in the pictures and the hosts were extremely responsive. The caretaker came by the house to mow the lawn one day, and she gave us fresh cut flowers! We absolutely loved sitting out on the porch! We felt very welcomed and loved being able to spend some time in Holland. Thank you so so much!
