We are disappointed to read this review, as several important details have been omitted or misrepresented. The exterior Ring doorbell camera is clearly disclosed in the property listing. It is located at the entrance of the unit and is used for security purposes. Shortly after arrival, the guest intentionally covered the camera with tape. We contacted the guest and requested that the tape be removed because guests may not disable or obstruct disclosed security equipment. It was subsequently discovered that two dogs had been brought into the property without prior disclosure or approval. This property does not allow pets; however, legitimate service animals are accommodated in accordance with applicable requirements. At no time prior to arrival, during booking, or when the dogs were brought into the unit were we informed that they were service animals. The claim that they were service animals was made only after we contacted the guest regarding the unauthorized dogs. We did not refuse a disclosed service-animal accommodation. When the guest later raised concerns regarding the condition of the property, including allegations of mildew, we took those concerns seriously and promptly sent maintenance to inspect the unit. Unfortunately, access and inspection were complicated because the two dogs had been left loose inside the property while the guests were away. We take cleanliness, maintenance concerns, and guest safety seriously and address reported issues as quickly as possible. We also expect guests to follow the terms of their reservation, disclose required information, and not interfere with disclosed security equipment. We regret that this guest did not enjoy her stay, but we strongly disagree with the characterization that guests are being “watched” or that a service-animal accommodation was refused. The exterior camera was disclosed before booking, and the animals were not identified to us as service animals until after we contacted the guest regarding their presence. We encourage prospective guests to review the listing, property policies, and our many other guest reviews when deciding whether this property is the right fit for their stay.
