Se siete alla ricerca di privacy, la solitudine e godere la vita all'aria aperta, questo è il posto per voi. Dal ponte si può guardare le aquile volano ... dalla riva si può prendere un striper ... in estate è possibile trascorrere le ore a guardare le barche passano ... in inverno è possibile ascoltare le crepe tonanti del ghiaccio scorre nel fiume. Immaginate la pittura, la scrittura e la creazione con l'ispirazione della natura!

Il 1 acri di proprietà Orrington, Maine vanta oltre 100 'di litorale, con una magnifica vista a sud lungo la Penobscot. Delimitato da un ruscello e stagno di stagione, e riempì del profumo di fiori di campo e piante perenni, il lotto boschivo è un rifugio per la fauna selvatica. La casa è raggiungibile da una strada sterrata privata ben tenuta.

La casa è stata costruita nel 1978 sul sito dell'Unione fiume Ice Company, che è stata fondata nel 1882. I resti delle vecchie fondamenta della casa di ghiaccio e manufatti del passato si trovano dentro e intorno alla proprietà.

Il design unico giro della casa è riflettente di design moderno organico metà del secolo ... con una torsione funky. In realtà è un gigantesco disegno yurta! Irradia da una scala a chiocciola centrale, il concetto aperto e pareti curve creano un flusso continuo liscio. La parete espansiva di vetro che circonda il piano principale si collega uno con l'esterno ... come se arroccato in cima agli alberi. Il progetto architettonico notevole è in armonia con la natura ... la sua foresta legno verde rivestimenti in fusione con l'ambiente circostante.

We totally enjoyed our stay in this peaceful, private, tranquil yurt, surrounded by trees, perched about 20 feet above the Penobscot River. The views from the second floor were amazing. We enjoyed the visits from eagles and foxes!! Our only contact with the owner was my text at the end thanking them for a wonderful stay and for all the delightful personal touches they’ve added to this beautiful property. (Exactly what this introvert in search of peace and quiet needed!!)This location was very convenient, yet so peaceful. We explored the coast from the Schoodic Peninsula and Mount Desert Island, down to Rockport, and also visited Bangor and Orono. Lots of nice day trips are possible from this spot.The property is very well cared for, with thoughtful touches throughout. We felt very welcome.

What a beautiful house with great river views and all the creature comforts one could want. Incredibly thoughtful host, from offering to turn on lights in case we arrived late, to putting out dog bowls filled with water for the pup, to a lovely welcome basket and vase of flowers. Summer Stay

Our stay at the River House was truly perfect. We had visits from owls every night, had scavenger hunts in the wooded paths, lounged for hours on the dock and jumped in the river. It was also close enough to explore Acadia National Park and the neighboring cities. The house was beautiful and clean and Sue, the host, was great!

A charming house in a very quiet, secluded area but still only 15 minutes from shopping and restaurants. The house was clean and very well appointed. The welcome basket with local treats and snacks was a nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River House and will definitely return.

Summer Vacation

Gorgeous, very unique property. Very quiet, felt as we were in the backwoods to northern Maine (with all the comforts of home) and still being 10 minutes from downtown Bangor!. Was an easy hour drive to Acadia NP and MDI. Was visited a few nights by several Barred Owls as we enjoyed the campfire. They landed on the tree right outside the house! We also observed a large Bald Eagle that landed during breakfast one morning on a tree overlooking the river 100 feet from the house. As a family we enjoyed the beach area and the kayaks at low tide. Amazed on the tide range. The house was very clean and inviting. The kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the separate pantry area to store our food and essentials. Sue was wonderful to deal with from early on in the booking process with a reservation issue to giving us suggestions of things to do. Even letting us know of the large community yard sale that could cause traffic issues. Would have loved to stay longer . If we visit the area again we would definitely stay at The River House! The Wohlers Family

Breathtaking River Views!

We had a wonderful time at the River House. Everything was perfect, especially the million dollar view of the river! Susan makes every effort to make her guest's feel comfortable. The home is tastefully decorated and the yard is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this home!

Life at the River House

The River House was a great place to stay and everything we could hope for. The view of the river was awesome and the hosts were terrific! They asked us over for a BBQ and boat ride which was great and there immediate response to our questions was fantastic! The central location in Maine gave us easy access to awesome hikes in Baxter, Acadia, state parks, and other places. Bangor is just a very short drive away. We would definitely stay here again.

Tranquil Place

This place is perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The house is right on the river on a dead-end street, so it is very quiet. We enjoyed sitting by the river and watch boaters go by. The house has enough space for 5 people to spread around. It's clean and the kitchen is stocked with all the necessities to make meals. Our hosts greeted us with a basket of delicious Maine treats. They were friendly and offered us a boat ride which was a special treat. We would definitely stay here again since it's perfectly located to see other places.

Tranquil Gem

The Riverhouse was the perfect location for our vacation. The house is beautifully furnished with all amenities a home needs to be comfortable. And from the moment of our arrival we felt welcome and at home here. The view of the Penabscot River and surrounding area is spectacular and the location was perfect for romantic walks and sitting with my family around a fire in the evening. The nearby dock and our wonderful host helped feed our son’s newly found fishing habit. It’s close enough to town to grab supplies or a coffee from Dunkin but secluded enough to feel like you’re away from it all. I have recommended this property to a close friend and my family is already planning another visit…hopefully in the fall. I bet it’s stunning.

Unique Private River House Beauty Relaxation

Beautiful & restful, yet close enough to take beautiful drives to various locations; small town feeling & safe; very close to Bangor. Joe & Sue were wonderful property hosts! We stayed a week, and we quickly realized that we wished we could've stayed longer! We really enjoyed celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary while staying at this beautiful River House and location❗️❤️

Unwind and take in the view:

Unique layout with all the windows and enjoyed looking out onto the river and surrounding trees. We were lucky to see 2 eagle sightings over the week in a tree right by river embankment. Kitchen was very well stocked for multiple types of cooking needs. Pet friendly property. Communication with owner was easy and found them very responsive to our questions/needs. On our arrival found the downstairs where beds are located to be very damp/musty and poor for sleeping. Informed owners the next day needed dehumidifiers and they had them up and running by mid day. Made huge difference within 24 hours. Every thing very clean but some furniture could probably stand to be replaced. The main couch seating has lost most of its support and the dining room chairs could be sturdier and maybe a little wider seat. We are an average weight couple and did not find them comfortable . We ate primarily at picnic table on the deck. Last is water access. You do have to go to the owners property right next door through a trail to make it down to water and area where kayaks are stored. Was a nice quiet secluded spot. Plenty to do in area and they also have a book full suggestions.

Fabulous River House

We spent 3 weeks at the River House. It is exactly as described. Being on the river was magical - the daily eagle show was mesmerizing. Joe and Sue were wonderful hosts, very attentive to all our needs and questions and equally respectful of our privacy.

Treehouse in paradise

Me my wife and two boys arrived aug 10 for the week and had the most incredible time. We could have stayed another week because there is so much to do. The river house was immaculate and was stocked with everything you could need. Just bring food lol. The views are beyond description and sue and joe are just wonderful. We fell in love with Maine and can’t wait to go back. The pictures don’t do the house justice. To much to do not enough time

The River House is on the site of the ice storage barn of the Union Ice Company that operated in the late 1800s. Our home is next door to the River House. It served as the office and bunk house for the ice company. By purchasing the River House, we were able to bring together the original pieces Union Ice Company once again. We are proud to show this little piece of Maine history to the discerning public. Tucked in at the the bottom of a winding dirt road, you will experience the Maine history, landscape, wildlife and state of mind that we have always treasured. The property is special... with its history and its future. Remnants of the old ice house remain to explore. Sit on shore and wonder what took place in the river during the Penobscot Expedition over 250 years ago? Or imagine what it was like to travel from Boston to Bangor on the steamship "Bangor" 100 years ago. The Penobscot is again a working river, with Cianbro using the port of Brewer to launch its steel frame modules to destinations in Texas... and cruise ships calling the port of Bangor home for the summer season.

The tranquil setting offers many opportunities to enjoy nature... from bird watching to fishing to kayaking and more... You'll always want to keep your camera handy, as you never know when the bald eagles will swoop by or the sturgeon may breach. Schools of alewives make their way upriver and a seal may visit. See the kingfishers dart along the water gathering their meals. The deer and fox follow the deer trail through the property. The frogs will serenade you in the evening... and the owl may herald the news of his latest catch. The serene surroundings lend themselves to reading, writing, painting and just thinking.
