House was comfortable, clean and perfect for our family weekend. The view is exceptional and we enjoyed the use of the paddle board and kayaks.

We loved staying at the cottage on beautiful Owasco Lake and will be back! The owners were incredibly responsive to any questions we had and the cottage was so well stocked with anything you could possibly need. Perfect for a couple or larger group. Highly recommend!

Loved it!

We enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks, and we took them to the marina to get ice cream. Pretty views, easy lake access and comfy cottage.

Went up for a fishing trip in fall. Fishing was a little tough given low water conditions. But Erica was great gave recommendations of where to eat. Was available by phone for this non tech savvy old guy. Place was great very short walk to lake. Views were awesome. Very accommodating. Everything we were looking for.

The house was cute and clean, and kayaking in the nature preserve was lovely. We did not experience the issues with a unusual sulfur smell other guests mentioned--just typical well water. However, I won't use VRBO again as their policies made it seem as though we would have no recourse if we did have problems.

The lake cottage has a welcoming feel. The living room has a gas fireplace and comfortable couches and a beautiful view out the sliding glass door to the lake. The eating area is comfortable and the kitchen very user-friendly. We had a small dog who was quite at home. The house was so clean and there were welcoming touches throughout-- snacks, coffee, essentials toiletries, filtered water in fridge. We had a lovely two-night stay but could have easily stayed longer. The stairs to the bedrooms are steep and narrow so people with mobility issues may have trouble navigating. My husband and I are 68/69 and felt comfortable since the bathroom is also upstairs. Lovely place!

Erica was the best communicator. Whenever I had a question, we used texting and a few calls to answer. The description of the cottage was precise. The house was clean and amply supplied with everything for kitchen, bedroom and bathroom needs. I brought so much I never used in that all was there for us.We were concerned that one bathroom for 3 couples would be a stretch, but honestly it is so big and located on the second floor so no problems. I grew up on the lake with tiny bathrooms. This was so spacious.Loved the big kitchen and living spaces. And the deck was suburb with wonderful table and chairs. We used regular umbrellas hooked on the chair back for the lovely sun exposure in the morning. The grill was used often and greatly appreciated.Our weather was perfect so the AC was a delight. Ample to cool down the entire house. We needed a fan in the bunk room, but the nights cooled down and that was plenty. A note on the bunk, it is a tight fit for the top. Not sure if 2 twins could work.As noted, this house has many steps to maneuver. However, unless you have mobility issues, it was not a problem for anyone. It was good exercise considering the relaxed life we lead. The second floor access from outside was great for suitcases. The lower level was great for walking the pathway to the lake, though it is a bit steep to go down the outside steps. For us is was well worth it for the beautiful setting up above the lake. - Great sunrises.Bring bottled water and enjoy!!

Not the best stay I have had

The good:Communication with the host was excellent and informative.The house was clean and it had a very quaint atmosphere.Everything we used worked.The not so good: these are things the host has no control over to fix, but it would have been nice to know before booking.Water smelled like rotten eggs. From my childhood I would say this was a well with sulfur.Water pressure in the bathroom was a trickle. Do not try to take a shower if someone just flushed.The staircase was narrow and steep. It would present a significant obstacle for someone with mobility issues.

Just ok

There are pros and cons to every place however this cottage for our stay had more cons then pros. I will start by saying I appreciate the responsiveness of the home owner and trying to resolve issues that we had. Erica was very easy to talk to which I appreciated. Some issues were just coincidence that stopped working during our stay however our biggest complaint was the water smell. I understand that it was well water which can have a sulfur smell as we visit the lake every year and have stayed in other houses with well water however the smell was so strong that anytime someone took a shower or washed dishes it made the entire house smell! Also thought the description was not totally accurate with what the cottage was. In the picture the deck is snow covered with a nice view of the lake however in the summer the lake is mainly blocked by trees unless you are on the top side deck which allows you to see an unobstructed view of the lake. Not a deal breaker but a disappointment. The beach that the dock is on is very close to another house and you are sharing that area without privacy so just be aware when booking. I think for the right family wanting a quick getaway that can deal with the smell it’s fine but wasn’t a good fit for us!
