Catelynn, thank you for the review. I am very sorry that the dishwasher in the kitchen was acting up and we didn't have time to get a service tech out there before your stay. Hopefully it was ok considering the house has 2 other dishwashers. Regardless, it is fixed now. I tried reaching out to you regarding the reference to a shower not working. I know the shower in the main hallway bath sometimes confuses our guests regarding how it works. If that was the issue, I am always available via phone and text to help explain things. I'm glad you had a nice time and enjoyed the house.

We take the cleanliness of our home very seriously and, until this review, have only had very positive feedback regarding how clean and well kept up our home is. We did try reaching out to this renter privately for constructive feedback regarding this review and he did not respond. We hope to hear back from him as we would like to remedy any cleaning issues or inconsistencies for future guests.

Thank you for your stay with us! We are happy you enjoyed the home. We are sorry to see your one-star review. As you explained post-visit, this was your first time using VRBO and we understand your expectations were more aligned with your experiences in a hotel or resort than a VRBO experience offering a more home-like, private, spacious, and personal visit. This comes at a somewhat lower price per person than a hotel stay for the same sized group and as such does not come with the full services of a hotel. We send information out before our guests visit so they can know more about the home and area, but also so they can become familiar with the pre-visit and post-visit procedures. We in no way expect the house to be left as clean as when you arrive. However, we do ask for small things like to start the dishwasher before you leave, take the trash out to the bins in the garage, and pile dirty towels and sheets by the washer. We stay personally in lots of VRBO's as a family and we have built our policies based on our experiences as guests. After your stay, you informed us you had not reviewed the information we sent a week before your stay. That helps us better understand your perspective. We put a lot of pride into making sure the home is deep cleaned and sanitized for our guests. We often have only a six-hour window to accomplish this (which was the case on your checkout day), which is tricky enough to accomplish when all the procedures are followed. However, your party did not request a late checkout, you refused to leave the home at checkout time, demanded that our cleaner to go away when they arrived shortly after checkout time, left what appeared to be feces on the floor in several places, urine on the carpet, wrappers, and debris in nearly all rooms, and all of the four sinks in the two kitchen areas were full or over filled with dirty dishes onto the surrounding counters. There was broken glass, a few towels unaccounted for, and yes, there was a mysterious white powder our cleaning crew found on the sinks, tables, dressers, and other areas. With your one-hour unplanned late departure and the extraordinary mess, our cleaners had to bring in a second team which significantly increased our cleaning costs. Further, we had to have the carpet cleaned and may need to replace it. Additionally, due to your unexpected late departure, we had to reschedule our snow removal team which also cost extra. Ultimately, we are glad that you enjoyed the home and sorry that you were disappointed with the communications after your departure. However, we made our best effort to inform you well in advance of your stay regarding our rules and policies as well as include all the information in a binder on the kitchen counter upon your arrival. We are not sure what we could have done differently to ensure that you read the materials available. We wish you all the best, but perhaps a VRBO vacation is not the right fit for your family in the future.

To provide our guests a premium stay, it is important for us to send out things like pre-visit surveys, and other links which are not allowed to be sent through the Vrbo interface. We wish that were possible to streamline things, but it simply isn’t available to us. Thank you for staying with us. I am sorry about the spots on the floor. I will inform our cleaning team that there were some concerns with the floor not being adequately cleaned. Regarding the pre-visit survey, our county tax authority requires that we keep a log of all guests for at least 3 years to remain certified as a lodging facility. This is our way of accomplishing that goal and to learn more about your goals for the stay. The survey is brief and should take less than 2-3 minutes to complete via your phone or a computer.
