Half Round- A Quiet Mid-Century Modern Cabin

Unique mid-century modern "Half Round" cabin in the woods. Located in the iconic Coolfont Mountainside which consists of contemporary cabins on nearly 400 acres, and was founded as an amazing retreating community in 1969. Half Round has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The open dining-living room area has soaring ceilings, 360-view fireplace and walls of glass looking out to the deck and woods beyond. There is no TV, but WiFi works well to stream shows to a device. The house is one level with ramp access to the front door and wrap-around deck, with seating and gas BBQ grill. The community in-ground heated pool and hot tub is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. (Year round indoor pool and hot tub available at nearby Coolfont Resort for $8pp/day.) Other community features include on-site hiking trails, tennis and basketball courts, rec field and tot-lot. The Berkeley Springs area of West Virginia is less than a two-hour drive from major metropolitan areas such as Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. It is best known for its warm mineral springs and is famous for being the country’s first ‘spa’, frequented by Native Americans long before the first European settlers appeared. This part of West Virginia is rich in history and natural beauty, and draws thousands of visitors each year. Get ready to relax and make memories for a lifetime in this beautiful and cozy mid-century cabin.

Everything was clean and relaxing. The stay was amazing. We lost power from a storm at one point and the host replied quickly, and the power came back on 2 or 3 hours before we expected. It helped my family and I make a beautiful memory

Great mid-century modern style house in a nice woodsy development above Berkeley Springs. There is a community pool and tennis courts, several parks nearby and lots of good restaurants in the area. The host was super nice! We enjoyed it immensely!

Half Round is a beautiful property in the woods. We loved the cabin’s design and how much “outside” you get from inside the great room. We loved listening to the birds from the porch and our kids enjoyed the nature - toads and furry animals from the porch as well. The summertime pool access is fantastic. We hope to come back in the winter and put the walkaround fireplace to use.

The house was clean and provided all we needed. It felt very private even though there were other houses nearby. I enjoyed morning walks along the wooded roads. The only area that could use improvement is the indoor lighting. More and/or brighter lamps would help a lot.

We booked the Half Round for a quiet girls weekend away. It did not disappoint.Exactly as it is listed. The cabin was amazingly clean for an older cabin with so much tree coverage. I wasnt afraid to take my shoes off. And the beds! The king size bed in bedroom A was beyond comfortable. The others in the group said theirs were as well. There was a nice selection of games to play and the kitchen was well equipped. No dishtowels, but plenty of paper towels were available. So no big deal. The hosts were great from beginning to end. Checking in with me often. They even verified that we saw there was no TV well before arrival. (kind of why we picked this cabin- for quiet). They offered local places to check out as well. This was by far the best host experience I have had and we will definitely be booking again.

The home was prepared for us for a smooth arrival. Plenty of firewood to keep us warm and beds we're sufficiently stocked with blankets. The atmosphere in the cabin is nice, with a cohesive style and plenty of seating. The cabin is located conveniently close to downtown Berkeley Springs, but far enough away to feel remote. Neighbors were hardly visible during our stay, making for a perfect getaway weekend.
