Cozy Home

Such a spectacular, well maintained, beautiful home to spend time with friends and family . From the gated entry to the tree lined back porch - perfection. If you get the chance to book this property it will undoubtedly be your favorite. It totally exceeded all of our expectations.

Good Times in Mt. Vernon

My friends and I were blown away by the property! We spent our days at the pool, playing yard games & fishing and at night the house/bunkhouse was plenty big enough for all of us to have our own beds. The house / bunkhouse were very clean and the commercial kitchen really helped us produce meals for a group of 20. The owner was very responsive before and during our stay. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone looking to host a large group!

The best weekend!

We had our wedding here at The Veranda and I cannot recommend the property enough! Our wedding party stayed at the house with us - we used the basketball court, the pool (a lot), boats in the lake, and enjoyed all the quaint views. Our friends and guests alike could not have said better things about the property. The owners and their team went out of their way all weekend to make sure we had everything we needed. We will be back!

This is East Texas!

If you have heard about the beauty of East Texas, this is it! The property is gorgeous, totally wooded with a beautiful pond. We loved the historic home and sitting on the porches or at the fire pit right next to the pond. Also the pool stays cool even during the Texas heat. We had 7 families totaling 23 adults and kids. There was plenty of room for each family to have their own space. It was perfect for us.

Outstanding!

We spent three nights at the Veranda for a Family Reunion/Eclipse Viewing trip. Everyone loved it and thought it was ideal for our large group. We enjoyed boating and fishing on the private lake, walking the trails, nights by the fire circle, gathering in the gazebo, and opening the themed gift basket just for us. The owners were very generous with their time in giving us a tour of the property a few months before our visit. The caretaker was very responsive and went above and beyond in sending by mail a couple of items that we left. We came from New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Virginia and No. Carolina and it was well worth the trip. We highly recommend The Veranda!

Such a gem!

This property is such an amazing place to spend time with friends and family. It totally exceeded all of our expectations. All rooms are spacious and well furnished but the outdoor spaces are where you'll want to spend most of your time. The screened in porch and fire pit areas are perfect for just relaxing and chatting, the pool and stocked pond kept our kids busy the whole trip. The cherry on top is a large commercial kitchen which is fantastic for cooking and great for when people inevitably end up gathering in the kitchen. The host was great about checking in with us and responding to a message when we realized we forgot our daughter's puddle jumper and saved the day by offering their lifejacket for her to use. Cannot say enough good things about this home and these owners. We can't wait to go back.

Wonderful Private Location for a Family Gathering!

Veranda is a wonderful place to spend quiet time with family. We celebrated Mother's day at the Veranda with family coming in from Virginia and Dallas (May 11-15). My brother-in-law enjoyed fishing off the dock. He caught lots of fish. The fire pit was easy and fully stocked with wood. It rained 2 days during our stay but no one cared. There was enough room for all 6 of us. The commercial stove/oven took a little getting used to even though we have a gas stove at home. The screen in porch and out door porch areas are so peaceful to enjoy. The pool area was nice but a little too cold for us to enjoy in May. WiFi was great throughout the house as well TV. The host was attentive to all our needs. Our group was small enough that we did not use the bunkhouse but it was adorable. The bedroom on the first floor was absolutely perfect for my 89 year old mom with a walk in shower. If you are looking for a place, to relax and have amazing views and privacy - the Veranda is a place for you!

The Veranda

It’s hard to know where to begin because there are so many positives about this property and the hosts. We have stayed in many VRBO’s, but this was the best in so many ways. I can’t say enough about how great the hosts were. They responded to every question immediately and were so helpful and nice. We notified them after dark on the first night we were there about the battery needing charged in one of the fishing boats expecting them to address it in the morning. But they sent someone out that night who replaced the batteries in both boats and a motor in one. The property is immaculate, beautiful, super clean and so peaceful. Check in and out was a breeze. We loved that it was secluded since there were 24 of us ranging from 2 to 69 years old, so we didn’t have to worry about the kids being noisy. The walking trail through the woods is awesome and the fishing was great. The basketball court was great for playing basketball and pickle ball that we brought with us. We have never stayed anywhere that literally provided everything you could possibly need and plenty of it. They thought of everything. There was even a welcome basket when we arrived that had the most amazing things in it. I could go on and on about this place and the hosts and still feel like I haven’t done justice with this review. I’ll wrap this up by saying I have never written a review anywhere near the length of this one. Can’t wait to come back.

Rest and Relaxation

There were a few issues that the caretaker tried to help us with. You almost need a map for all the light fixtures. The master bedroom was a little warm might help to put shutters or curtains. The pool was not very clean. The gas range puts out a little odor. But after saying all that we all enjoyed our stay. Thanks for allowing us to share your house. We also enjoyed the restaurants in area and also antique shop ping.

Very peaceful escape!

This location is perfect for getting together with friends or family. We had quite a family reunion as we were all in town for a wedding in Sulphur Springs. The accomodations were incredible! 3 of the rooms in the house actually had kind size beds - which was a delightful surprise as we were expecting all queens and had some very tall men in our group. The porches and kitchen along with the bunk house were great spaces to hang out! We enjoyed the lake, pool, fire pit and just hanging around a enjoying the breeze! It was an amazing place. We may plan a family reunion here soon!!

Best Family Vacation Ever

The Veranda was the perfect spot for our large-family gathering. The lovely accommodations, private lake, swimming pool, and so much more afforded us the opportunity to enjoy leisure time as a family without ever having to leave the property. We appreciated all of the amenities like the spacious kitchen well stocked with necessities, laundry facilities on site, an abundance of beach towels, and clean, beautifully-decorated accommodations. We look forward to returning to The Veranda again next summer.
