Anatoliy … It was great to see you and your family again. I’m pleased you had a chance to visit the large animal rescue farm (Alasa Farm) as well as the Sodus Farmers Market during your stay. There are so many roadside veggie & fruit stands and Farmers Markets nearby during August and September, that one can almost skip going to the food stores. I’m thankful we had good weather during your stay, despite how wet the summer has been so far. It’s surprising how enjoyable, therapeutic actually, stone painting is! (It must have something to do with the natural texture and 3D aspect of the stone.) Thanks for texting me during your stay that the loft A/C unit wasn’t pumping out cool air. (I replaced the unit immediately after your stay.) Even with Lake Ontario being 1.5 ft above normal water levels, it’s important for guests to bring water shoes for getting into and out of the lake … so my future guests, who read the VRBO reviews, Thank You for mentioning that fact. Peppino’s restaurant has the best Italian Cuisine this side of NYC. You can now cross off “Kayak on Lake Ontario” from your bucket list. 😊 Many thanks for taking such great care of the cottage during your stay and for doing an outstanding job tidying up prior to your departure. Lisa, it was my pleasure to host you and your extended family at the Stumble Beach cottage. Your comments on the beach are spot on. Although the beach isn’t really steep, one needs to step very carefully over the stones to access Lake Ontario for swimming, tubing, or kayaking. Folks really need to be wearing water shoes as the stones at the very edge of the water are typically slippery. As an alternative to the cottage beach, there’s a free sandy beach at Sodus Point just 12 mins away, and as you mentioned, a public beach 30 minutes away at the east entrance to Chimney Bluffs State Park. Thanks for doing a fantastic job tidying up before your departure. Looking forward to seeing you folks again in the future!

I’m so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Stumble Beach, Amanda. For sure … September is a month when the boat traffic on Lake Ontario begins to thin out as the end of the boating season approaches. This drop in boating traffic makes the cottage all that much more a place of solitude where the only sounds you hear are waves and bird calls.
