We could not have asked for a better stay at this beautiful cottage. The accommodations, the cleanliness, the hospitality, the spectacular beach front views, the pumpkin carving (yes!), and everything listed above was also so incredibly family friendly. Ryan, his family, and everything about this property was absolutely wonderful. We would definitely book again!

This was one of our most memorable mini vacations. The house was perfect. The sunsets were beautiful, fire pit roasted both hot dogs and s’mores. A perfect base location to explore Door County. The hosts were wonderful.

We had an amazing stay at Sunset Bay Cottage. This home was perfect… cozy, clean, and had everything we needed. Watching the sunsets over the Bay each evening was absolutely breathtaking and the perfect way to end our days. We felt right at home and made great family memories! Thanks for a perfect vacation!

Excellent!

We absolutely loved the cottage and location. Couldn’t have asked for a better family vacation. It was perfect for our family of 4. The kids loved the water toys and fishing off the dock, and playing games in the screened in porch at night.

Beautiful Sunset Bay Cottage

We loved our stay at Sunset Bay Cottage! The property is exceptional and well taken care of with lots of games and other entertainment available for kids. Highly recommend to anyone looking to visit Door County...we hope to stay here again next time we are in town.

We loved everything about our stay! The home was very clean and had everything we needed. The yard and lake views were amazing! Everything was extremely well maintained. We could not have hoped for a better home to stay. We were there for an extended anniversary weekend. Everything was perfection. Would highly recommend the home!

Hassle-free Relaxation

Ryan was great! The property is beautiful, well-kept, and is well equipped so you don't have to sweat the small stuff. Helpful instructions, a fully furnished kitchen, and great views made the trip truly relaxing.

Great place!

Our group of 6 adults (3 couples) had a great time at Ryan's house. The weather was not good but the views and comfort of the house meant we still had a wonderful time. The house was spotless, the kitchen completely stocked with everything we needed, the beds and linens were comfortable and the location was perfect for exploring Door County. We highly recommend this home!

Great lake house get-away

Our family had a wonderful time relaxing and reconnecting during our stay. As a couple with a 3 adult children, this cottage was the perfect layout for us to spend time together, as well as provided ample the space to escape to enjoy quiet time to ourselves. The house was nicely updated/decorated, and very clean. The property is beautifully landscaped and maintained. We would definitely recommend and will keep this on our list for future get-aways. Thank you, Ryan and Beth!!

Family vacation

This is a great place to stay! Ryan and Beth are wonderful hosts. The cottage is recently updated and the yard is beautiful. The cottage is located about 10 miles north of Sturgeon Bay, on a nice quite road right on the water. The cottage has everything you need. The sunsets by the lakeside fire pit or on the deck are AMAZING!

Beautiful property and sunsets

Our stay in Door County exceeded our expectations. The home and grounds were exceptional. Our hosts thought of every detail and the views from the deck, grounds, fire pit and new dock were beautiful. The location was perfect for our family. Close to all the sites that Door County offers but a little off the path so we were able to enjoy the quiet beauty of the lake and property. We plan to stay again next year!

Great Door County Family Stay!

We had a wonderful stay! House was very nice - clean, updated, spacious. Well equipped with everything we needed for our family including crib/high chair for our baby. Outdoor space was beautiful - kids had a blast swimming in the lake and fishing off the dock. Fun lawn games to play. Great lakeside firepit. Hosts were very accommodating and friendly - setup swimming mats and water trampoline for the kids which made water play more fun!! Easy drive to everything we wanted to do at the various towns in door county. Great stay!

Amazing!

The house was absolutely amazing. Very clean and they literally thought of everything when it came to making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Ryan was great to work with and very easy to get a hold of. Can’t say enough about the house, location and Ryan, the owner. Thank you for letting us enjoy you’re beautiful home!

Hidden Gem

The cottage was perfect for our family. The spaces are well laid out and quiet, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could ask for using. There are great views of the lake with a picturesque sunsets. We will definitely be staying again sometime soon! Thanks Ryan. p.s. The caramel apples and Door County Coffee were fantastic!

Perfect house right on the Bay!

We were taking a girls trip to the Door, and wanted a house on the bay for the beautiful sunsets. This house was perfect! 3 bedrooms and 2-1/2 baths with comfy places to relax in the living room, and a fantastic sun porch. Even though it was brisk in the mornings, we enjoyed turning on the overhead heater on the porch and drinking our morning coffee while we watched the waves. Ryan and Beth were the most gracious hosts, and even joined us for sunset by the bay one evening. The welcome basket was such a special touch, too. We would love to come back again some day!!

We had a nice time and the hosts were very accommodating and friendly. The cleanliness was amazing - cleanest VRBO we have ever stayed at! Appreciated the many extra touches - having travel sized shampoo and conditioner available, plenty of helpful things in the kitchen, the welcome basket. They have put a lot of effort into making guests feel comfortable. The only drawback was the weather - it was too windy and choppy on the lake for us to kayak, swim, have a fire or fish for all but part of one day of our visit. Nothing the hosts can do about the weather but be prepared that staying on Lake Michigan is very different than interior lakes (I know - duh). The shoreline is completely rocky so we weren’t able to walk along it at all. This is no reflection on the hosts - Ryan even got a kayak all set for us to take into town if we decided to find a calmer beach, and gave us tips on locations! It’s a beautiful property and great hosts.

Best weekend retreat

We chose the property for the location along the shoreline and the appointments and bed/bath size of the cottage. It was perfect. Three separate rooms so we had enough privacy for sleeping in very comfortable beds in lovely bedrooms. Separate baths making it easy as adults to share the cottage without feeling crowded but also feeling cozy. The kitchen was completely situated with anything we needed. We cooked meals together and ate together and it was flawless. The views of the lake from both floors was so lovely. Friday we arrived to a stunning sunset followed by stars so bright filling the skies with hints of the Milky Way. Saturday morning a bald eagle watched us from a tree by the shore, staying long enough to pose for photos and video before soaring off over the lake. Location was perfect as we explored the peninsula and still had time for a lovely meal of delicious local smoked fish. I would recommend this location for anyone. The service of the property owners was attentive and helpful and friendly. I felt welcomed and it was nice to share the bald eagle photos. If we’d needed to reach them, we knew they would answer but we also felt like it was our place for the weekend. We visited in late winter, so no water sports for us but the cottage was ready for anything we could have wanted to do. We were happy just to talk and eat and explore and it was perfect for that, too. We hope to return someday.
