This place was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to be as close to Lake Superior without paying too much. Not only were we right across the street from the lake but it was a way side with public access to an incredible beach. Everything worth doing in the area was within a fairly short drive. Would definitely stay here again.

The rustic foxhole didn’t disappoint! The amazing sunrises and sunsets over Lake Superior were absolutely amazing. The evening sky was peppered with stars as we sat by the fire pit in the evening after exploring the town of Marquette and Big Bay. I would highly recommend staying at the “Rustic” Foxhole!

We loved our stay!! It required us to disconnect from the hustle of every day life as there is no wifi. We watched movies, sat by a fire, walked across the street and looked for Northern lights, and went on excursions. It was nothing fancy, but exactly as described. Fridge is small, and main bed is smaller than what we are used to, but we made it work. This was an adult only trip, but our kids would have loved the upstairs.

The cabin was furnished with rejects from a Goodwill store but aside from that, the towels were beyond being useful as rags. The worst of it was the water turned my partner’s white hair orange (many washings haven’t removed the color) ; the stale coffee in the cupboard made him sick ( better to have removed it); and the mattress was so lumpy he didn’t sleep well. He is from an upper peninsula family so it’s not a city boy reacting to country life. I’m sorry to be so harsh.

Sorry you didn't read the description/reviews thoroughly and were unprepared for the water being high mineral content. The cabin is rustic, the rates are low because we know it's not perfect - the mattress was brand new last year, linens are cleaned between guests and there is a tote labeled extra towels that are also clean. (coffee is not provided)

The Foxhole was perfect for my kids and me. We spent most of our time at the beautiful beach just across the highway - most days we were the only ones there. It was never crowded. The kitchen had the appliances and dishware we needed. Morning coffee was enjoyed on the back patio and some mornings on the beach as I watched the sunrise. We had a couple of cozy evenings in the cabin and a couple in Marquette and around the Foxhole fire pit. I emailed the owner a question the week before our stay and she answered me right away and was so kind in her response. I would recommend this cabin in a heartbeat.

It was the perfect rustic cabin for our stay. Close to NMU and it was grwat to spend some quality time with the kids. We will definitely return.

The overall vibe is right in the name, its rustic, and if that is what you're looking for this place rocks. It's very cozy and comfortable. The location is nothing short of perfection, right across the road from a beautiful beach, and with great view lines of the sunset and moon right from the comfort of a well stocked firepit.
