So glad you enjoyed your stay, though we are sorry to hear that you were "dismayed" after your stay. Regarding our location, yes,we are on the "Beach Road." For future bookers unfamiliar with the Outer Banks, this is the road that all oceanfront and semi-oceanfront homes from Kitty Hawk to Nags Head are on. While it is heavily traveled, it's a two-lane, 35 mph road that all vehicles must stop at crosswalks for pedestrians. We are also next to a popular restaurant right across from a beach access, so there is a lot of activity around, but we've never found it to be "extremely loud". I know this is subjective to what you are used to, though.Soundside neighborhoods are much quieter but also much farther away from the oceanfront and convenient access to other attractions, restaurants, shopping, etc. To maximize potential views, the main living area and kitchen are on the top floor, as they are in almost all houses on the oceanfront or semi-oceanfront. Unless you have an elevator, climbing stairs is a necessity. And, yes, the in-door icemaker for the refrigerator only dispenses crushed ice. We apologize for that and for the stain you found under the furniture cover. As a pet and child-friendly rental, we constantly address and clean rugs and furniture. Thanks to you, too, for bringing the fan to our attention so we could replace it. Your suggestions for the backyard are a great idea, and we may be adding some chairs and a firepit during the off-season months when we do upgrades.
