We had the most wonderful trip! This was our second time staying at Tavolara and it was just as magical as last year - the pristine beach, unmatched views, and comfortable surroundings were perfect. Plus, this time, we brought our children (2 boys ages 7 and 9) and they loved it too. Some JVD trip highlights included the Bubbly Pool, Sandy Ground beach time and lovely seashells, dinner at Taboo, snorkeling trip with Laid-Back Outfitters, lunches at White Bay (Soggy) and Great Harbor (Foxy’s), and more. But the best part of every day was the gorgeous view and surroundings at Tavolara. It was super hard to leave! But we look forward to staying here again as soon as we can! Thanks to Michael (and Brian!) for another lovely stay!

Paradise

We had such a wonderful stay at this special spot, the views are amazing and the house is beautiful. We enjoyed coffee in the morning watching sailboats cruise by, snorkeling on the reef just in front of the property and then drinks on the Adirondack chairs in the evening. And amazing star gazing at night. The owner was wonderful giving us great recommendations for dinner spots, JVD scuba and provisioning the house for the week. We can’t wait to return!

We inherited all of our previous guests (who had been coming for many years before we purchased and renovated after Hurricane Irma in 2017), so it is good to see some new guests- especially new guests wanting to return. This beautiful home could not have been better. There are breathtaking views from every direction and so many outside decks to sit on and enjoy them. The two bedrooms and bathrooms are perfect for two couples sharing a holiday together. Both bedrooms have their own decks with ocean views, king size beds, and private bathrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The whole property is in excellent condition and comfortable. We absolutely loved it!!! The host, Michael, was very helpful as we planned our visit. Gave great advice and connected us with everyone on the island we needed for water taxi, dinghy rentals, 4WD rental, and provisioning. He was always friendly, responsive, and a true pleasure to interact with.The property manager, Brian, was also very helpful and friendly. Gave us a great overview of the home when we arrived and checked in with us a couple times to see if we needed anything. We truly enjoyed all the wonderful island restaurants on the beaches. Our favorites were Foxy's (both of them), Ivan's, Tipsy Shark, Hendos, Peace & Love. It was a lot of fun going to Foxy's Taboo and B-line and other small islands by dinghy--we definitely recommend renting a dinghy from Dave!4WD vehicle is a must when staying at this end of the island - the roads are very steep and curvy and we actually needed 4WD on several of them.JVD Scuba was great for water taxi and boating - great team thereWE LOVED TAVOLARA - WE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE!

Better than the pictures!

We got to Tavalora via a private water taxi right to the sandy ground estates dock, In the end it was definitely the best way to arrive considering our overall travel. Michael connected us with everyone: a local boat hire who helped us mitigate our arrival, our car rental, our groceries and of course his manager who picked us up from the dock and got us to the house after a long day of travel. When we arrived it was breathtaking, the pictures do not do this place justice. You literally have 300 degree views off the east end of the island. The house itself is set up a little tricky, but worked perfect for our family. Our kids were old enough to bunk up in their own room/house while we stayed in the main area. They are separated by the deck outside. Each space has its own lovely bathroom and shower. The kitchen has everything you need and there is a grill outside, we ended up cooking several meals here because it was just so nice to be at this space. I think we accomplished enjoying every outdoor space, but WOW that was the absolute best. There were several dining tables and lovely chairs for coffee or happy hour, including a terrace steps above the ocean. The entire east end is a bunch of up and down STEEP hills, so able bodies are a must. The car is parked up a set up stairs, the beach is at the bottom of several flights, but in the end the terracing makes this a very special place. Make sure to rent a dinghy so you can make it to the islands offshore!
