The home is right next to an open space area which makes it feel very private. It is a short walk to a launch point for river access and kayaking. The host provides kayaks which is really a great bonus. There is no direct river access from the property, which at first was a bit disappointing, but the nearby access turned out to be fine, though it's not a sand entry, it's reeds and mud. The beds & bedding were all very comfortable. One of the bathroom shower faucets broke and the owner had to send in a plumber to get it fixed. This turned out to be fine, but it was a bit frustrating when it happened as we were a family with six adults including inlaws who didn't exactly want to share a bathroom. The main reason for being less than 5 stars is the kitchen was not as well equipped as we hoped. Upon arrival after a very long drive, and wanting to make dinner, we discovered the can opener was broken and we had to open the can of tomatoes with a bottle opener. The host did send a replacement which we appreciated, but it was a bit frustrating when being exhausted and just wanting to eat and rest. The sink faucet was also so clogged that it took several minutes to fill a pot to boil for pasta. Also the microwave handle was loose and difficult to open. The pots and pans and cooking utensils were of poor quality, plastic & flimsy, melted, and with chipping nonstick surfaces.Overall the home felt a little less cozy that we'd hoped.
