Our family came down to St. George Island to celebrate being together and spending quality time with our children and granddaughter. The house was just as described. Plenty of room to visit, cook, meals together, and enjoy being right on the beach. Our host Gordon was so very helpful answering any questions we had. We would definitely come back and stay again at this beautiful property.

Away from the hustle and bustle of 30A, especially during a holiday week! The close proximity of the beach house, pool, and private boardwalk to beach was so convenient! Beautiful sunrise walks and evening walks to Sikes Cut for sunset made this location special! We enjoyed biking along the many pathways! The surf was great for boogie boarding, fun building sand castles, and shell collecting were among our favorite memories. Overall a great family beach trip!

We have used VRBO every year for our vacation and this one was unfortunately the worst experience we have had as far as cleanliness, lack of general maintenance, safety and upkeep. We paid for a luxury vacation this year for 3 generations as our three young grandchildren would be with us as well as five adults, we wanted to make wonderful lasting memories. The issues range from broken/sharp tile around pool edges, uneven and unsafe concrete decking around pool, filthy stove, oven, appliances, floors, bedding, clogged dryer vent, ac return vents with dust and hair clogged in vent. The host offered us the use of his kayak which was not something any of us are experienced at, he wanted to send a cleaning crew however the amount of cleaning required to make this property worth the premium we paid for 7 nights would require a full day to day and a half at a minimum. Furthermore, the last thing we wanted with a house full of people, including three small children is a group of cleaning people disrupting our stay when this should’ve been taken care of in the months prior to our stay. We contacted VRBO who attempted to reach the host several times as well as requested a partial refund from the host which were all ignored. Unfortunately we now have to proceed with other avenues for “services not as described” and “poor quality of goods and services”. I will attempt to attach pictures in hopes this will help future guests navigate their choice with staying at this property.

We take a great deal of pride in this property and genuinely want every guest to have a great experience. That's why this review is disappointing. The concerns raised during the stay were taken seriously and addressed immediately. We offered to send our cleaning team to the home and remained available throughout the reservation. Those offers were declined. We also arranged for our pool service professional to inspect the pool area after concerns were raised. He advised the guests that the beveled pool tile edges did not present a safety issue. No injuries were reported and the guests and their children enjoyed the pool every day throughout their vacation. We feel it's important for future guests to know that this review leaves out several key facts, including documented house rule violations by the guests, three unauthorized pets that were not included in the reservation, property damage, and substantial additional cleaning and replacement costs. All of these matters became subjects of dispute after checkout. Fortunately, our history of reviews tells a much more complete story. We invite prospective guests to read the feedback from the many families who have enjoyed our home over the years, including the guests who stayed immediately prior to this reservation, and decide for themselves. Every guest is entitled to their opinion, but this review doesn't present a complete or accurate picture of either the property or our efforts to address concerns during the stay.

Beach Front House

The house and Gulf front location with a large pool was perfect for our family. The large FR, breakfast bar, dining table (hard to find) & 3 BR + loft bunk beds accommodated all of us comfortably. For our next beach vacation, I’m sure we will be back.

I invite you to share the natural wonder that is St. George Island. Whether you are planning your first visit or returning for your annual family reunion, there is much to explore and enjoy on the 28-mile long and one mile wide barrier island. Uncrowded, natural beaches, free from high rises, traffic and crowds, offer many simple pleasures – excellent fishing, kayaking, outstanding bird watching and awesome star gazing – just to name a few. And the beaches are pet friendly, so no one gets left behind at vacation time!

The Gulf of America, The Apalachicola Bay and the Apalachicola River converge to form one of the most productive estuaries in the world. These island waters are nationally recognized as a fisherman’s paradise. Fresh oysters and sweet, plump shrimp are harvested locally and sold at the numerous fresh seafood dealers. You may also enjoy these seafood delicacies at the excellent restaurants on St. George Island and nearby Apalachicola and Eastpoint.

There are a number of full service marinas and public launch ramps available in Apalachicola, Eastpoint, Carrabelle, and now on St. George Island. Enjoy guided excursions to nearby uninhabited islands, national wildlife preserves and the Apalachicola River. The Dr. Julian G. Bruce State Park at the eastern end of the Island also provides excellent kayaking launches.

Loggerhead sea turtles are an important part of life on St. George Island. Loggerheads return to their own hatching grounds to nest and lay eggs between May and November.

Nearby Apalachicola has much to offer with its boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, Dixie Theatre presentations, historic museums, live marine exhibit and many excellent restaurants. Bring your own bicycles, or rent them from one of the shops, and enjoy the Island’s 6.3 mile bike path - from 12th Street West to the State Park. Pack your binoculars for native and migratory bird watching. And gaze at the stars in the magnificent sky, unobstructed by the glare of city lights.

The newest addition to the Island is the majestic Cape St. George Light, rebuilt from the fallen remains of the final Cape St. George Lighthouse. Visit the St. George Island Visitor Center and Lighthouse Museum and learn about its fascinating history.
