All homes tell a story and El Chaparral's is rich in history and jazz culture. True to it's roots, the house still retains a relaxed & soulful feel but has been equipped with modern comforts and amenities to make it the perfect home-away-from-home.
Sitting on an oversized, corner lot, guests will have exclusive access to the main house, the casita and also the lush, private back yard with a large pool.
El Chaparral is currently available for monthly stays. 30+ night stays only.
El Chaparral is a two-structure property consisting of a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home plus a one-bedroom casita with a full bathroom, kitchen, living room and dining room.
The property is located in the picturesque La Quinta Cove neighborhood, close to hiking and mountain biking trails, golf, tennis, plus dining and shopping options in Old Town La Quinta.
Guests can relax in the casually-curated living spaces, cook and enjoy meals in the bright kitchen and relax in the spacious and comfortable bedrooms.
You can also enjoy La Quinta's nearly year-round sunshine in the privacy of the beautifully landscaped back yard with a large and deep swimming pool, picnic-style dining set, bbq and mature fruit trees (help yourself!).
El Chaparral is approximately 21 miles from PSP and about 1.5 miles from Old Town La Quinta. We love this part of the Coachella Valley and area and are always willing to share recommendations with our guests through our website/blog or Airbnb messaging. Don't be shy!
The Great Room:
- Spacious great room with comfortable, leather sofas and chair
- Smart tv with live tv streaming and a dedicated Netflix account
The Kitchen:
- Refrigerator, electric stove, oven and dishwasher
- Cookware, glassware, dinnerware and utensils
- Kitchen island and barstool seating
- Coffee maker with a bag of our favorite local coffee
- Welcome snacks and beverages
The Dining Room:
- Dining table with seating for six (plus additional barstool seating at the kitchen island)
The Primary Suite:
- King sized bed with comfortable mattress and pillows
- En-suite bathroom with vanity and a step-down shower (please see photos)
- Separate toilet room
- Huge walk-in closet with hangers and drawer space
- All bathrooms are equipped with towels, hand soap, toilet paper, hair dryer plus quality, eco-friendly shower products (shampoo, conditioner and body wash)
The Guest Bedrooms
- Two guest bedrooms are located on the main floor of the home
- Bedroom 2 has a king sized bed, a large desk, a closet with hangers and a step-down sitting area with French doors leading out to a side patio.
- Bedroom 3 has a queen sized bed, a small desk, and a clothing rack with hangers.
- Please note that bedroom 3 does not have a door, just a curtain, but it is on the opposite side of the house from the other two bedrooms.
Guest Bathrooms:
- En-suite bathroom in the primary suite
- Full bathroom (shower/tub) in the hallway outside of bedroom 2
- Full bathroom in the hallway (shower) outside of bedroom 3
- All bathrooms are equipped with towels, hand soap, toilet paper and hair dryer plus quality, eco-friendly bath products (shampoo, conditioner and body wash)
Casita Details: The casita is detached from the main house, with access from the back yard near the pool. Please note that the casita does not have central AC, but the two mini-splits do a good job of keeping the casita cool and comfortable in the warmer months of the year.
The Casita Kitchen:
- Refrigerator, electric stove/oven and microwave
- Sink with dish drying rack (no dishwasher in the casita)
- Tea kettle
The Casita Living Room:
- Plush sofa
- Smart tv with access to live tv streaming and a dedicated Netflix account
- Dining table with seating for four guests
The Casita Bedroom:
- Queen sized bed with comfortable mattress and pillows
- Clothing rack with hangers
The Casita Bathroom:
- Fully equipped with toilet paper, hand soap, towels and quality bath products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash)
- Shower
- Toilet
- Single sink vanity and mirror
Please note that a portion of the casita (not pictured) and also the garage will be locked off from guest use. No one will use these space during your stay, they are primarily used for storage.
The Outdoor Space:
- Guests will have exclusive use of the back yard, which has a gas bbq, a dining table and benches, plus lounge chairs and umbrellas in the pool area. We will supply one full propane tank for the bbq.
- Extra large and deep swimming pool
- The back yard is well kept with lush landscaping and mature fruit trees. It feels like your own private resort!
Other Amenities:
- Iron and ironing board
- Full sized washer and dryer with complimentary-use laundry detergent and fabric softener. We use only free & clear (allergy-friendly) laundry soaps. Machines are located in the main house.
- Driveway parking (garage parking not available)
Comes with both charm and quirks: This is an older home (built in the early 50s) and while it is super comfortable and full of charm it also has the quirks of an older home. We love it and hope you will, too!
Guests will have exclusive access to the property during their stay. Some portions of the home (a part of the casita not shown in photos and also the garage) will be locked off from guest use. These areas will not be accessed or occupied during your stay and are primarily used for storage.
El Chaparral is located in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood of La Quinta, and is approximately 20 miles from Palm Springs. "The Cove", as locals call it, is surrounded by scenic mountains (making for incredible views and sunsets!) and is known for its hiking and biking trails. Old Town La Quinta, just 1.5 miles from the home, has some of our favorite restaurants along with shopping and sometimes live music on the weekends. We love sharing recommendations with our guests and will happily point you towards some of our favorite restaurants and things to do.
The Coachella Valley (or the greater Palm Springs area) is best explored with your own car, but ride sharing services (like Uber) are available for short trips around town.
If you are interested in booking El Chaparral but feel like this is more space than you require, we do have a separate listing for only the main house, excluding the casita. On this listing the casita can also be a per-night add-on if you have additional, owner-approved guests coming to visit you for a shorter period of time. Inquire for details.
Note: payment processing fees may be withheld from any refund upon cancellation.

We currently call the Coachella Valley our home but find ourselves frequenting San Diego and Scottsdale where our other rental properties are located.
In our personal travels, we saw first-hand that so many vacation rental properties were over-promising and under-delivering. From properties that didn’t match the listing photos, to unacceptable cleaning standards, to unfriendly hosts, it was always a gamble showing up to a property that we had booked. Who wants to start off their vacation with the stress of not knowing what the home you booked online will really look like in person? Or feeling like your questions are a burden on the host? Not us.
