Very tough review from a very tough guest. I wish I had a longer history on VRBO as I do on the other main platform to offset this criticism with valid reviews from appreciative customers. Julie was displeased with the cleaning job done ahead of her stay. Which, rarely and unfortunately, is a thing which happens when operating in the Short Term Rental industry. I always aim to meet my guests expectations, and it is certainly possible that my team and I fell short in this regard. For that Julie cancelled and received a refund. I had my team come back out to clean again, and they admitted it wasn't the deepest clean the place had ever received, but that it was the same standard which has garnered highly positive cleaning reviews in the past. Julie was not polite, you can read this tone in the review. She was an ardent complainer and insulting throughout the course of her aborted single night stay and follow up. I am a firm believer that the customer is always right. So I happily refunded her the money. I have also redoubled my emphasis in various stages of the routine and deep clean. There is always room for improvement, and that's where I'm always headed. As a host of over 2000+ reservations at short term rentals, I believe this is a prime example of Julie being one of "those people."

Yikes! This is a pretty brutal review, as you just read. And I'm certainly sorry that the experience came up so short for Shawna this time. There were plumbing issues between the unit and the laundry room on the property. I can only fix something when I know about it. I put in a solution before Shawna's stay, which obviously didn't solve the problem adequately. For future reference, it has since been fixed. As for the offer of 10% off for extra nights, that's part of my regular auto-messaging which all guests get. For further reference, Shawna didn't actually make her report and despite a couple of rough reviews on this platform, this Sunflower Cottage is really nice and had a brand new update on June of 2025.
