About Our Home:
Welcome to our unique townhouse, one of several built in the 1920s. We’ve dedicated a year to carefully remodel our home to embody a blend of “classy but original,” “cozy but practical,” and “modern but simple.” Furnished with my father’s design pieces alongside upcycled furniture and local materials, our space offers a special charm.
As you enter, you’ll find a welcoming foyer with space for shoes and jackets, a staircase to the second floor, and access to the kitchen and living room. The original wood plank floors and preserved wall aquarelle paint add a touch of history—be sure to check out the section we saved for you to admire.

Kitchen & Dining:
The kitchen features modern cabinets, a dishwasher, a stove, and a kitchen island perfect for working or enjoying your morning coffee. A door leads from the kitchen to the garden, providing a convenient shortcut to a grocery store just 200 meters away, known for its delicious baked goods. The dining room, partly furnished with my late father’s design pieces, offers lovely views of the backyard and has a sliding door that connects to the living room.
Living Room:
Our spacious living room is both comfortable and stylish, featuring design pieces like the Jetson chairs. A wall-mounted smart TV provides access to Netflix, SVT Play, and other online services. From here, you can return to the foyer through the original stained glass doors, or head upstairs to the master bedroom or downstairs to the basement guest room and laundry facilities.
Master Bedroom:
On the second floor, the master bedroom boasts a vaulted ceiling, creating an open and airy atmosphere. We’ve also added a new bathroom with a shower and floor heating. You’ll enjoy restful nights in this tranquil space, waking up to the sun and the sounds of birds in the garden.
Additional Accommodations:
For larger groups, we offer two additional fold-up beds for an extra charge of 200 SEK per night per person.
The basement guest bedroom features two windows that let in the morning sun while blocking out outside noise, providing a peaceful retreat for restful sleep or private conference calls. Next to the guest room, you'll find a full bathroom with a shower and towel heater, as well as access to the laundry room with a separate entrance from the garden.
The laundry room includes a washer, dryer, and drying rack for air-drying clothes.
Garden & Surroundings:
Step outside to enjoy our beautifully designed garden, filled with fruit trees and berry bushes. There’s access to a small gravel road leading to a birch grove, which opens up to a city forest with jogging trails, playgrounds, soccer fields, barbecue areas, and more.

Guests have access to all areas of the house, except for the private storage in the basement and the storage shed in the garden.
We kindly ask our guests to be respectful of the space and to appreciate the effort we've put into creating this charming oasis. Please help us promote sustainable living by being mindful of your use of power and water during your stay. Thank you!
Interaction with guests: Best way to get hold of me is via text messages. I will share my mobile number once you have made a reservation.
Other details to note:
Our home is within walking distance to Råå, where you'll find grocery stores, a spa, shops, Systembolaget, restaurants, and much more.
From Råå harbor, you can catch a boat to Ven, a stunning island rich in history, known as the birthplace of Tycho Brahe's groundbreaking work.
Tycho Brahe was an extraordinary astronomer whose observations laid the groundwork for a new understanding of the solar system and gravity. Raised by an uncle who had kidnapped him, Tycho chose a scientific path over noble life at the Royal Court. Known for his larger-than-life personality, he famously lost part of his nose in a duel but continued to engage in passionate debates throughout his life.
Beyond his colorful character, Tycho was a brilliant astronomer. His meticulous observations produced the most accurate lunar theory of his time and the best star catalog ever compiled. His work ultimately enabled his assistant, Johannes Kepler, to discover that planets orbit the sun in elliptical paths.
Whether you want to relax on the beach, enjoy the comforts of home, or explore the rich history around you, you will absolutely love this area!

Informazioni sull’host
Host: Marten

Originally from Sweden, I’ve spent the last 27 years in the USA. After the passing of my parents a couple of years ago, I decided to reconnect with my roots by purchasing a charming house on Järngatan. It needed some TLC, but together with my amazing fiancé and help from my best friend—who lives nearby—we transformed it into a cozy oasis over seven trips to Sweden in just one year.
We are passionate about upcycling and recycling, so nearly all the furniture is either designed by my late father or sourced from a local thrift organization. We love sharing this special space with guests who appreciate a unique experience beyond IKEA and who will treat our home with the same care and love that we do. We hope you enjoy your stay!

Perché ha scelto questa struttura
Having grown up in southern Sweden near the beach, I’ve always had a fondness for the ocean and access to Denmark. This location offers quick and easy access to Copenhagen Airport, perfect for my travels. My best friends live just a few blocks away in Råå, making it easy to spend quality time with them when we are back in Sweden.
As I stroll down to the beach, I’m greeted with stunning views of Denmark, the island of Ven, and the iconic Kronborg Castle, the inspiration for Shakespeare's Hamlet and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The neighborhood is also renowned for its beautiful protected buildings, adding to its charm. You’ll love exploring this picturesque area!

Cosa rende unica questa struttura
Historical Context:
This area has a fascinating history; in the early 1900s, a copper extraction plant was built nearby, and the factory's consul wanted his employees to live comfortably close to work. The design of the row houses draws inspiration from English and Dutch styles, with touches of Swedish national romanticism evident in the architecture. Before construction began, the architects and engineers Claes and Ewald traveled to Amsterdam to study row house living.
Personal Touch:
These were the last homes built in the neighborhood, leaving a beautiful birch tree area behind my backyard that will remain untouched. This means not only do we have a stunning garden, but we also enjoy a small "forest" with paths leading down to the beach right behind the house. It’s a perfect blend of nature and comfort!
