This retro-bungalow is nestled into the base of West Mountain with a quiet mountain side for a backyard. You will be crazy close to dozens of Upstate NYs best vacation attractions & destinations while privately ultra-cozy in this 1960s retreat home.
Built in the late 1950's, this home was constructed before there was an official road to it. When the county came to build a road it was decided that it would be in the back yard. So what seems like the front of the house is actually the back.
The space
Upon arrival you will be entering the kitchen. Immediately within view is the dining table and sliding glass doors leading to the screened-in 3-season porch. The house has a pleasing footprint which takes you either into the livingroom or to the hallway leading to the bathroom, 2- bedrooms and library which can serve as a 3rd bedroom using the converting futon.
Both the library and the 2nd bedroom are roughly 9' x 11' plus closets and reside on the north side of the house. The master bedroom, on the southeast side of the house, is about 11' x 13' plus a double closet and it has an on-suite entrance into the bathroom. The library also contains 100's of books, movies and cd's for your enjoyment. Please be kind and return all of these items to their original spaces.
Hardwood floors dominate the house except in the bath and kitchen. All walls have fresh bright paint as of 2022. Also new this past year is almost all of the kitchen appliances including a panini-press, an air-fryer/ toaster-oven, microwave, can-opener and coffee maker. The kitchen is all ready to go with new cooking pans and utensils. The kitchen also houses a new LG Washer & Dryer set.
The West side porch is extremely open yet very private. It's glass doors share a wall with the living room which is full of new retro-styled wood and leather furnishings. The TV is positioned over the fireplace and a small office space is just to the right of that.
There is Wi-Fi throughout, streaming TV channels and an on-sight ROKU device for use by those with their own ROKU account info. Both TVs also will accommodate a HDMI device if you have one with you.
Guest access
The entire house is accessible to our guests except the locked basement. Outside, the yard is all yours as well. there is only one neighbor to the East of the home. Across the street is a currently unoccupied house. The rest is mostly undeveloped woodlands on the side of West Mountain. Although we own the land we advise that you ONLY venture there if you are ready for no pathways, lots of wet marshland, thorns and the potential for wildlife encounters. The very backside of the yard leads to the back-lot of our plant nursery which is off limits from this point of entry.
Other things to note
Long stays may be interrupted by lawn and garden maintenance workers. Some improvements to guest amenities in the yard are planned for 2023 including a fire pit and seating area as well as an outside grilling station. The cherries on the front yard tree are edible as well as the apples in the backyard.
Both the circuit breakers and the furnace are located in the basement which is off limits. If these two items need attention then please contact immediately.
