My son and I had a great time! Unfortunately we arrived during a heat wave which lasted 4 out of our 7 days. The cottage was extremely hot especially during the night. The host have numerous fans which definitely helped but when the temperature’s hover in the mid 20’s overnight there’s very little escape from the heat and humidity. Overall the cottage was well stocked with everything we needed and the river was a blessing. The hot tub is definitely an added bonus!The grass was cut the day after we arrived which was good for us and our dog. The host was more than accommodating for everything we needed and they responded immediately to any questions we had. I would definitely visit again but hopefully not during another heat wave.

The perfect place for the perfect getaway. Thoughtfully supplied, clean and welcoming. Spent days on the dock, and kayaking the river, and spent evenings by the fire. Played board games and cooked. Can’t wait to return! Highly recommend.

Very quiet spot just outside of town. Ducks fiying in and staying the day. Peaceful. Great spot to stay and headout on adventures to see the fall colours

Property was well appointed and very comfortable. Waterfront is a river/creek, not a proper lake that would have been preferable. Otherwise we enjoyed it.

Amazing Experience

The cottage was very clean and it had everything we needed. The river is just steps away from your door with a beautiful view. There is a little bit of current since its a river but as a beginner I had no problems kayaking so I would totally recommend! Its also a very private and quite area which we appreciated as well. I would definitely recommend staying here, had a very good time!

R&R Cottage Is Well Named!

A beautiful retreat in a lovely setting on the Gull River, the R&R Cottage is welcoming and well-equipped. The hosts have thought of everything you might need to have a wonderful time including a bottle of wine, a large deck with gorgeous flowers and strings of lights at night, kayaks for exploring the river, two TVs for families and groups who want to watch different programs, and lots of games. Private and peaceful. Highly recommended for your memorable holiday in the Minden Hills.

Great getaway

Close to everything but far enough to feel alone. Great space! Hosts provide everything you need and more. Important to note that there is no garbage disposal on site. Easy to navigate but a head’s up for those who are used to the amenity!

Sweet spot

This is a beautiful little cottage set in tranquility but close to town. Nicely finished and outfitted. Great kayaks with which you can paddle into town. Not easy going up river as current is strong. Would have to stay close to young kids and pets when swimming but water is lovely and clear. Highly recommend.

R&R is very easy here

Very nicely appointed cottage on the water. The place is very peaceful yet close to amenities.(15 min walk to Foodland). Only saw a few boats slowly pass by and saw no one as we looked out onto the water. Went for a kayak paddle down to Minden as some one who has not kayak in years it was not bad distance / challenge going up current and the river was peaceful. Very nice appointed cottage clean comfortable and great location. Would go back if going to the Minden area

A Quiet Getaway

We had a lovely four night stay at the cottage with our dog, Oakley! The cottage was very clean and tidy upon our arrival and they had thought of small little things even for our dog to ensure a great stay. The river is lovely and great for a kayak or just reading on the dock. I forgot my book but they had a lovely selection at the cottage (it’s like they knew)! We also made use of the badminton net available. They really thought of everything! The only thing they didn’t have was Scrabble 😂 we will definitely be booking here again in the future!

Great cottage to relax and have fun

My group all had a wonderful time at "The R&R Cottage". The location on the gull river is amazing. It's very close to town, but also fairly secluded so there is good privacy. Groceries, ice cream, etc. are a very short trip away. We were there for a long weekend in the summer, and there was many boats/inflatable rafts floating down the river.There were only minor issues with checkin. The host asked a few days prior to push back the checkin time a couple hours for the cleaners. They were respectful, and extended the checkout time (plus a little extra time) to make up for it.The cottage is very clean, and the space was comfortable inside and out. There were only minor issues - no propane for the BBQ, and the hammock may have seen one too many winters. But the included kayaks, boardgames, etc. kept us busy and more than made up for it.Overall, we were very pleased with the cottage, would absolutely recommend it to others and would love to go back in the future.

Nice interior but felt a little neglegted.

The cottage itself has some nice interior upgrades and the area is quiet and relaxing with the river right out front. Kayaking down the river was a fun activity and it was nice to bring our dog. Some drawbacks It could have been cleaned better, found some old candy wrappers under the bed and the fridge hadn’t been wiped down. The internet was also not working for over a full day. No AC with little air circulation. One of the screen doors in the main room had a hole in it so we couldn’t have that door open. The outside area hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time a lot of bugs and cobwebs built up and the badminton net was also broken. All in all it was a nice cottage but just felt a little neglected.

Hey Allison, We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. During the time you were there, Minden was hit by a storm and so lost internet for a couple of hours. We checked with the internet provider as mentioned to you and they told us that the internet was working at home. Our cleaner who went to clean after you left also told us it was working and that the tv was running. We also have a camera outside for the safety of our kayaks and were able to view the video as well, which would have not been possible had there been no internet for a full day. With regards to the AC, we have mentioned in our listing that we do not have have air conditioning. We do have large doors and while a previous guest did rip the mesh a bit, there was another door right next to it with a perfect mesh to keep out the bugs that you could have opened as well. Same for the patio in our bedroom. We also provide extra portable fans in the bedrooms that can be moved around as required. The badminton net is just disassembled and is in perfect condition. We do not leave it on the ground only as they will break if there are any strong winds. We will be sure to check with our cleaner about the bugs and cobwebs and have that situation fixed asap.

R&R Cottage is truly a riverside gem! It lives up to its name, offering a quiet, serene escape where we enjoyed plenty of wildlife sightings right on the property. The cottage was clean, well-stocked with all the amenities we needed, and the provided games were a fun touch. We loved the hot tub—it was the perfect spot to relax and watch the river, day or night. The fire pit was also a highlight for gathering in the evenings. The two kayaks provided were sturdy and safe, making for a fantastic time on the Gull River. A pro tip for future guests: the river current moves to the left, so you can kayak against it, and enjoy a relaxing float back down! The host was also excellent, providing prompt communication and quick responses to all our inquiries.We would recommend this property for your vacation for family, friends, or couples!

We had the best time! Host thought of everything! Great location just outside of town, tons of activities close by, river was beautiful, and the hot tub was such a nice touch, we used it every single day. The quality of the cottage is also amazing, whoever decorated the interior totally nailed it; it's super high end finishes. Really couldn't have asked for a better stress free vacation. It was our first time renting a cottage and I'm normally a very tough judge of things. Really cant think of a negative. Minden is such a great vacation town. The host knocked it out of the park. We will be back again!
