Welcome to the lower level of this cozy log cabin nestled in the heart of the Aska Adventure Area! While the cabin itself is not directly on the river, it offers the best of both worlds: peaceful forest surroundings and quick access to the Toccoa River. A short, scenic 3-minute walk down the stairs, through the woods and across Aska Road brings you to a riverside deck where you can relax, fish, or simply enjoy the view.

The Toccoa River is a renowned trout fishing destination. Bring your gear and cast a line—especially at Sandy Bottoms Recreation Area, just a mile upstream and frequently stocked with trout.

Privacy & Hosts

From October to late April, we (Jane and I) live in the upper portion of the cabin with our two small dogs. The rental unit is completely separate and private. We're happy to assist with local tips or questions during your stay. The rest of the year, we’re in Montana—but plans may shift depending on fire season. Either way, your comfort and privacy are always our top priority.

Kitchen Note

The unit does not have a conventional oven, but it includes a convection microwave, griddle, and BBQ grill with side burner. With great restaurants just minutes away, you might not want to cook at all—after all, you’re on vacation!

Please bag all garbage and place it in the orange container, in the drive way. The trash man will not take un bagged garbage.

If you would put the laundry in the washer and start it, the lady that does the house keeping, would sure appreciate it. Thanks!

If you use the corn hole boards, please put the bags back in the containers. Squirrels will chew though them to get the corn.

We had a wonderful time! The cabin is comfy and cozy. It was clean and well maintained. The property owner was very knowledgeable and friendly.There is a big red truck that is parked on the property that we realized was there to keep a boat from being taken but it threw us off a little when we first arrived.

Clean and tidy. The property and furnishings are slightly dated. If you just look at the pictures and don't read the details, you'd think the property is on the river, but it's not. It fooled us until after we booked. Overall, a very nice stay and I'd book it again!

Wonderful and cozy weekend escape

This was a perfect place for a cozy weekend retreat — close to easy scenic hikes, not far from downtown Blue Ridge, and there is great breakfast at the cafe just down the hill. It’s obvious how much care was put into making this a great place to stay!

Anniversary Getaway

Wife and I spent a few days nestled in the mountains of Blue Ridge for a much-needed getaway. The place was nice and had almost all amenities we needed (a stovetop would've been nice but heck what we had was good). Would stay again!

Great Place to Stay w/ Fishing Nearby

Very cozy place to relax in for a weekend trip. The taccoa river is a 3 minute walk down the hill and we caught some rainbow trout in there. Thanks for the stay!

Nice, clean place. Good location.

This is a nice clean place. Hot tub was a good addition. At the bottom of the stairs that lead to the road there is a great breakfast place inside a general store. They serve a great country breakfast for a good price.

Mid Winter Getaway

We went down south to beat the Michigan winter blues but had bad luck with the weather being colder than expected. However the property and surrounding area made up for that. The rental was clean and inviting and had all the things we needed. Hosts were readily available and friendly It was a perfect location to get to area attractions Would definitely recommend!

Just What We Needed

My wife and I came to Blue Ridge to see the fall colors. We wanted a small, cozy place in the Aska area. This was perfect. Our host, Scott, was very friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Hidden Gem

This cabin was perfect for the two of us on the second stop of our anniversary trip. Very quiet and peaceful and was just steps away from the river and Iron Bridge Cafe. We will be back if Scott will have us!!!

Cozy cabin by the river

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cozy mountain cabin by the Taccoa R. We were able to contact our host immediately with any questions. Alan was also very informative and genuinely cares for his guests and their stay. The cabin was clean and had all the conveniences and very well decorated. We could hear the Taccoa R. from the front porch and was only a short walk away. We highly recommend visiting this cozy cabin.

Cute Cabin

Overall a good experience! The cabin is cute and close to downtown Blue Ridge. Alan was very responsive to any questions. I just wish they had disclosed it was connected to a primary residence with access directly into the VRBO.

Quick trip to Blue Ridge

This property is a great location for ease of access to everything in Aska and the surrounding areas. Plenty of hikes within 15-20 minute drive, the general store is literally a walk down the steps. Scott was phenomenal and very accommodating. If you are looking for a convenient place to rest while in Aska, this is a great option. It is off a main road so you hear a little of that occassionally, but it is minimal. The river is literally down the steps accross the street, so you get the enjoyment of that as well. Great option at the price!

The one picture that I saw when I booked this reservation. Show the cabin on the river. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't. It was across the street And the grill that didn't work. He said we can use the other grill but it was in bad shape other than that, it was a nice vacation.

Convenient Amenities: We love that we can easily walk to the Iron Bridge Cafe and general store for breakfast, lunch, or supplies.
Natural Beauty: Just upstream, the Sandy Bottoms recreation area provides excellent fishing access along the river.
Proximity to Blue Ridge: The cabin is only 9 miles away from downtown Blue Ridge.
Outdoor Adventures: Additionally, our cabin is conveniently close to two fantastic trails:
Falls Trail: This scenic trail leads you through lush forests, past cascading waterfalls, and offers breathtaking views.
Swinging Bridge Trail: Experience the thrill of crossing the Toccoa River on the longest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River. The serene surroundings en route to the bridge make it a delightful hike..
And when we’re not exploring, the Toccoa River Restaurant, just a few minutes away, remains our go-to spot for enjoying craft beers during Happy Hour."

Rocky River Retreat has a generator that turns on automatically in case of power outages. Power outages can be frequent here in North Ga. Very close to two places to eat. Iron Bridge Cafe and Toccoa River Restaurant. Also a short walk to Blue Ridge Tubing, Gem Mining and the Toccoa River.
