Decent location and good for dogs

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We overall had a very nice vacation with our family and two small dogs. This was our first time vacationing in Kill Devil Hills so I don’t have any other location in outer banks to compare. The location was an easy drive to most things we wanted to experience. Easy drive and parking to beach access at Awful Arthur’s. The fenced in yard was great for our dogs. The house was spacious with 4 Br/3ba. Our teenage boys enjoyed the hot tub. However, The hot tub guy showed up on Monday to do maintenance without any notice and we were gone and our teenage sons were there alone. Also The chlorine dispenser that floats in the tub had the chlorine tablets falling out the bottom into the water the entire week we were there. The bottom screw cap would not stay on. Needs fixing so not sure what the hot tub guy did. The house was overall pretty dirty. Granola crumbs all over nightstand and in the bedding of downstairs Queen bedroom. Master king bedroom cold water faucet so tight you can barely turn it. The fan so wobbly and loud we couldn’t use it. Highway noise very loud and not what I prefer to hear. The red couch in living room is broke and appears to have no support. I probably would try a location in a quieter location for our next vacation to outer banks.

A disappointment

Well, the other reviews that mentioned insects are real. We encountered a few and it really made our family feel uneasy. When we reported them to the rental company, they ensured us that they were not the type of roaches associated with filth, rather they were either water or palmetto bugs. Regardless, we won’t be coming back. Maybe we’re over reacting? Otherwise the property could use a face lift. Some paint, flooring, living room furniture, landscaping upgrades, as well as a deep clean,would go a long way. The short walk to the beach was a positive.

Beach Week

Check-in process was efficient with good communication and reference information. House was second from Highway with noise from passing vehicles. Fenced in yard was great for dogs. Grill was not usable as it was left very dirty by Previous guests. Reported to property management. Overall a good stay. We enjoyed the decks and top floor open layout for family time.

Would stay here again!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A Shore Thing met all of our needs for a wonderful OBX vacation! Morning coffee on the screened porch, fenced yard for the dog, hot tub were favorites. When we weren't at the beach or having a meal out, the home was comfy and clean. The home is close to Croatan Highway so be careful with kids and pets. The walk to the beach was easy for us or you can drive to public parking and have a much shorter walk very easily. Definitely would recommend booking with Beach Realty. Everyone I spoke with was very helpful and friendly!

Disappointed

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I read the previous reviews and was a little concerned about the cleanliness of the home and with the latest review of July 4th just prior to me renting the property - the cockroaches. I contacted the rental company and told them of my concerns. They said everything would be taken care of. Upon arrival, it was not ok. The previous reviews are correct. The house is not clean. My family and I wiped down everything and the amount of dirt on the countertops and furniture was appalling. The floors were sticky, the showers were not clean and there was dog hair and a dental pick under the couch. I don't mind cleaning or running a vacuum, but they leave you nothing to work with. The vacuum "sucked" (meaning it did not pick up the dirt it just spread it around.) It is obvious that this house is not cleaned properly. And the roaches--they do exist. I never saw any in the house; however, they were all over the deck on the top level. The grass in the backyard was very tall. I called and they asked for pictures. They had someone out to cut it the next day. They offered to have housekeeping come back in to clean but we were already in the house and had cleaned. They also offered to spray for roaches but because of my grandchildren and my dogs I told them no. This should be done in between one family leaving and the next one coming in.The air conditioning duct work needs to be cleaned. You can see the dust coming out of the vents.This house is advertised as being 101-150 yards to beach access and that is not correct. Be prepared to drive. We found an excellent beach access on Asheville Street. Paved parking and wooden walk to the beach. Lastly, the linens from the previous tenants stayed on the tables under the carport all week. I let them know but no one ever picked them up.

2nd time stayed

Reviewer Comments: The house is very nice but my girlfriend cleanse for a living and the cleaning crew needs to clean until the furniture and bathroom vanity. Love that they allow furry family members too but wish they had a swiffer. Beach realty is always very nice to deal with, they meet the vacationers needs and looking forward to dealing with them in the future. Also almost forgot this time we saw roaches and we know they are a water bug but was wondering how often a exterminator comes????. Have a good summer season.

Great place To Stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved A Shore Thing in KDH! We have always stayed in Buxton and while we love it there, we spent alot of time driving. The house was very nice with a short walk to the beach and the fishing pier. The backyard for the dogs was smaller than expected but served it's purpose to let our puppies get out and run their zoomies out. There is noise from the traffic but sitting on the porch and enjoying the breeze made us forget all about the traffic. On a clear day you can see the ocean from the porch. We all loved the house and would definitely stay again!

Very Disappointing

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It is a nice house and fairly close to beach access. The house was located right on N. croatan highway, so it is a lot of highway noise and not quite and relaxing while sitting on porch. However, the house was very dirty upon arrival. Animal hair all over the place, mainly on the floor under furniture and on the couch. The kitchen is not very equipped. Limited storage bowls and large pots. And the only can opener was broken. The upstairs AC barely worked. I read this in a review prior to stay and contacted the rental office regarding this. Their response was that they stay up to date with issues and make sure to take care of them. When we arrived it was extremely hot upstairs and the unit could not keep up. It is an older unit that should be replaced, because there are no quick fixes for this problem other than to wait until night when it starts to cool down. This house has potential to be a nice vacation home if these issues were resolved. But we will not stay there again.

Nice house but location isn't great for beach access

Reviewer Comments: We unfortunately got stuck with the pool lady dumping the hot-tub so a full day or two was wasted before we could even enjoy the hot-tub. The house is nice but tiny bedrooms. Location from public beach access is pretty far, not ideal for guests with children (like myself). I would rent from Beach Realty again as their staff is amazing, but this house was sub-par. Would recommend looking elsewhere.

It is close to the beach (you do not have to cross the main road to reach) and the Avalon Fishing Pier. It is located close to the local attractions, such as the Wright Brothers Museum. A grocery store and general shopping store is just down the street within five minutes.

Great Vacation

The house is within walking distance to the beach access, but rather close to the main road which made for a noisy time on the porch and we had small children with us so farther from the road would have been better for us. The layout of the house was perfect for us - grandparents on the upper level and the kids and grandkids on the lower level.

Nice Stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Most everything about this house is wonderful. There were a couple things I was not happy with. Whatever chemical is used to clean the microwave, fridge/freezer was so awful smelling, we had to wipe out everything before we put food in everything. Even after we cleaned the ice-maker out, the ice still smelled like that awful chemical. My opinion is not to use it anymore. Also, in the advertisement it said it had a Jacuzzi tub, which it did not. There was still dog hair on the couch from whoever stayed there before. So I would say that the cleaning crew did not clean very well before we got there.

Backyard for dog, but our dog couldn't spend any time running around back there because of all the sandspurs so that wasn't worth it. Location was good - short walk to beach (10 min). Great amenities in house - hot tub, fully equipped kitchen with everything you could need, nice common space for all of us to hang out.

OK house

I cook so i was disappointed with the electric stove and some of the cookware (i had to buy a new frying pan) and cooking utensils. Didn't like the upstairs master SHARES the bath with the main floor. So it is NOT private. The hot tub was good. The grill was disgusting, but they quickly replaced it with a new one. All the door knobs were loose and coming off. There were big ants on the 2nd floor. the stairwell carpet need to be cleaned and they quickly responded to that as well. Too close to by pass. Lots of traffic noise.

House was Nice

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was nice and clean. Although we were told that the house clean, we had to wait quite a while for the "inspector" to do her job. When we arrived at the house and were unpacking the inspector showed up and asked if we wanted to do a walk through to make sure everything looked ok. By then there was sand in the house and bathrooms had been used, pointless to do a "walk through" at this point. My husband and I picked this house over a few others because of the hottub and indoor Jacuzzi that was listed on the amenities. To our disappointment there was no indoor Jacuzzi. When we called the rental office to find out what happened they asked if we had checked all the tubs because maybe we missed it. Then the lady advised they would check into it. This was our "honeymoon" as we didn't have one when we married a year ago. Very disappointed. Despite these things the house itself was very comfortable, not too big or small. We had 8 people staying at the house. Service repairman had to be called for the AC unit and he was prompt and fixed the problem quickly.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: So cute & cozy. It was clean, it was spacious, everything worked just as it should and all furniture/beds were comfortable. The hot tub was relaxing & clean and I loved being so close to everything. When we come back again, we would love to stay at this property again!

Spacious house with fenced in back yard.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was very spacious for our family of 5 and 2 dogs. The fenced in yard was nice for dogs to run around. Only change would be to have stairs off of back deck to the yard. Only bad thing would be cleanness of the house. Floors were not vacuum and bathrooms not cleaned. The house is close to alot of things including the avalon pier and awful athurs which we walk to several times. Also the house has keyless entry which is nice to not keep up with a key. Would definitely recommend staying again but need new cleaning service.

family vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall great stay! Some notes: Advertised as queen beds, but they were smaller (double?) beds. Backyard for dog, but our dog couldn't spend any time running around back there because of all the sandspurs so that wasn't worth it. Location was good - short walk to beach (10 min). Great amenities in house - hot tub, fully equipped kitchen with everything you could need, nice common space for all of us to hang out.
