Unfortunately, Dianna had stayed at this house before-so she knew it was an older home as compared to the other homes within Suncadia. Her complaints were a bridal veil tag was left in closet and electrical panel was mislabeled.

This is absolutely untrue! I am horrified that people feel so free as to write untruth just to get their way - in his case, to blackmail me out of more than half of his expenses. Here's the verbatim truth: "[Guest], the fitness center charge is almost $500. Normally it is not nearly that high, but in combination with you asking for access at the last possible minute as well as a fire at the lodge meant that it is much higher than I would normally subsidize. However, that is a direct cost to me, of which I only charged you $220. Again, I normally just let you know that it is too late for me to get this to you, but I was being very accommodating - just because I wanted to show you excellent service. I would hope as a tenant that you would do the same. Your offer [$500 discount] does not demonstrate this. Also, the cleaning fees are also more than I charge you. By your recommendation, I would thus only earn about $150 for the entire stay. In rentals, unavoidable things happen. There are leaks, or an appliance breaks. Or cable goes down. Or a hottub goes down. These incidences are rare, but they do happen at no fault of the host. And I was going above and beyond by offering you a partial refund in the first place.In this case, a hottub company bought out another hottub company on the same week the hottub went down. Due to miscommunication, they didn't fix the hottub on-time. Again, rare event.You can see by the reviews that I am a very accommodating person. Hence my offer to make up some of your amends in the first place.You [said that you] enjoyed the weekend and I gave you a good place to stay and good access to Suncadia amenities.Your misfortune with the hottub is in no way with skipping out on an entire night of payment on the house. Currently my offer still stands. I will give you a $100 refund in response to taking the funds, enjoying the weekend of memories, knowing that you got the best service possible giving the circumstances, and we move on living and loving life. If that is amenable to you, let me know.If not, and you choose to write a bad review, you have every right too. I will just respond on the review with this email and the options I presented to you and what you chose to do. And I will also write a review for you, noting your request for half of the stay for free when something didn't go as expected for no fault of the host so that all other hosts on VRBO can be aware, given that I had no such knowledge to go by. Your choice."

Let me clear this up right now: The guests never stayed here in the first place, so the title is very misleading, unfortunately. The old guests that left just before the new guests arrived partied - hard. They broke a chair, left one of the bathrooms in an unsightly condition with the doors on both sides of the bathrooms locked, and left the place in a general state of disarray. When the new clients arrived at 4:00pm, the highly lauded cleaning company that we use explicitly told the new clients that the place would be ready by 4:30 - just 30 minutes after the expected start time. And, at 4:30 sharp, I received a text from the owner of the cleaning company letting me know the place was ready. Now, rather than waiting until 4:30 to stay at the house, the tenants made other arrangements and decided to stay elsewhere. So, they left, never to return, which of course is their prerogative. When I found around 6pm that they did not come back to the house, I told them that the cleaners kept their word and that the place was ready for them and was ready at 4:30pm. However, they said that the place was in a mess when they arrived at 4pm and they didn't want to stay there. I told them that many tenants actually leave the place in a bad state. That's why I have such excellent cleaners and why they are so lauded. And 30 minutes is not a reason to cancel their stay and refund their money, nor would it be at a hotel or other place of residency. This is also explicitly stated in the contract so that we wouldn't run into this issue. I told them that no worries, they can just come back another time to use their night, or they could extend their night to stay multiple nights. However, we do have a strict no refund policy - after the deposit is paid, there are no refunds, but we also don't require that the tenants make any remaining payments. Because life does happen, we allow tenants to choose a different date to stay so that they do not lose their deposit, and we've had 2 or 3 clients do just that. This is 1st time we've had a client decide not to stay based on the presumed state of the house, who threatened us to involve attorneys and write a bad review without being willing to start the conversation of other alternatives. We love our house and loves what it brings to our tenants and to the Suncadia community. And our processes are here to continue to allow you all to enjoy what we are blessed to be able to offer.
